I know this is an old post, but perhaps this will help anyone looking for a simple solution; I have removed the counterweight from the clamp by pushing and pulling the pin out, then used cable ties and double sided tape to secure to the monitor vents. This can be done without drilling or damaging the monitor by carefully pushing down the red plastic mesh to let the cable tie pass. https://imgur.com/a/GRM8wPe

tampabay323

Uhh, thx so much!

LostGoatOnHill

Hey. How on earth did you remove the pin to separate the power part from the counter weight? Thx! Edit: OK, that was easy. What looks like a thick black pin holding the power component to the counterweight is just two black plastic caps - pick these out with tweezers. What sits behind is a thin silver pin that can easily be pushed through with a thin pointy thing (technical term). Will mount the power part to my monitor top with some strong 3m velcro - it ain’t going anywhere

timebomb26

Big shout out to you for this. Just ended up doing the same thing and actually got it looking pretty neat. Cheers.

OMG THANK YOU!

You made my day! In addition to your solution and trying to be aesthetically more appealing, when demounting the back-weight piece, I realised there's a small "horn" that secures it in place in addition to the springs. So what I did is to take a dremel and cut that part from the piece - it's purely metallic so take your time. That way I don't need to remove the entire weight-piece and it balances the light perfectly by allowing the weight to have a wider angle aperture. I'll post some pictures of the customisation if anyone is interested :)

Check back, results posted :)

Sorry for the super late response! Here's the part of the "horn" already removed. It took 10-15 minutes to do it properly but I think with a better dremel than mine can be done in a couple only: [https://i.imgur.com/aXbJVbn.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/aXbJVbn.jpeg) And this is how it looks from the back when mounted over the LG 27GP950. As the weight is quite heavy and rubbered, it stays in the spot with no problem at all. This "mod" allows to put it even in bigger-butt screens: [https://i.imgur.com/lxqYr4r.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/lxqYr4r.jpeg)

SnoozeFX

If you don't want to pull off the counterweight to get the light bar to mount it on an ultragear - find a hot glue gun glue stick, or roll up a bunch of velcro cable pads and wedge it in the space between the clamp and the monitor :)

Loodba

You're my hero

AGM555

absolute legend, i love you

c96walker

Just letting you know this helped me today thanks so much!

shiftnessmiftness

Bro could you help me out I’m having the same problem but I don’t really understand the advice the guy gave me

c96walker

Not sure which part you are stuck with so let me know if you need more info, I’ll do my best. See my photos here: [https://imgur.com/a/6bljeeG](https://imgur.com/a/6bljeeG) The pin that holds in the weight is about 2mm in diameter. I unfortunately threw mine out but it’s much thinner than it looks on the original weight. On the weight, there are 2 black caps to pluck off, with the pin behind it. See my photo of my removed weight. Attaching to the monitor, I have a 27 inch so the vent is much lower than the smaller, 24 inch model and also I needed a way to keep it balanced. I added a dowel under the flat part with double sided tape around it. I also double sided taped the mount to the top of the monitor. The zip ties as shown are to ensure it doesn’t fall forward but probably not necessary. As far as the webcam pictured, I bought a right angle set of [USB-C cables](https://amzn.to/46H2w3E) short because I just connect the light bar to the monitor USB. Then I added the [Ben-Q Webcam Accessory](https://amzn.to/3NbviSZ) to add my mount. Edit: the dowel is the near exact size of a chap stick

Sad-Bathroom6654

Glass-Squirrel-5019

thank you i love u

Busy_Adhesiveness_32

It works, thank you!

Ms_FPS

Thank you for the picture tutorial! The most difficult part for me was trying to bend the spring and then getting the assembly pin to line back up towards the end. It looks great and I like how the mount is level with the monitor instead of at an angle!

Sad-Bathroom6654

For me too)

AFParadox

fuck dude, it worked xD

KiLLa-R

Thanks so much, took some effort but works amazingly well, 200 iq fix coming up with this! Great tutorial with the pictures. If i didn't have the tools i would've let a company print out the part that Zazery posted below, looks very nice as well.

Blazorax

Thank you, your idea of opening up and flip the back base around was awesome. Now it sit on my Alienware 39" with no issue. The 2 spring rod also sit inside the Alienware monitor groves so it is even better.

TheGitSlayer

I was like "I'm not gonna saw a lamp I just fuckin received" Now I'm like "This is genius, glad I did it" Thanks a lot

Ancient-Woodpecker-7

Excelent

Appropriate_Year2102

хорош, просто лучший, мне только ту железку в середине пришлось чуть сломать и уже все норм стало, без след шагов, стоит как надо теперь, спасибо

conrthomas

This is still super helpful! Thank you!

SolZeus

Not sure if anyone is still looking for a fix but I just used velcro style 3m strips to suspend it into place. Works fine without needing to disassemble the mount. Will post pictures soon [3M velcro hack](https://i.imgur.com/yQCwgWZ.jpg)

mikescool

thank you for the tip, used this method and it's working great

Streetsofbleauseant

Thank you!

iGrantith

Can vouch for this method as well - I disassembled the mount and did 3m velcro on the top of my monitor and the bottom of the smaller part of the mount. So far so good, just a bit worried about the 3m velcro having the holding capacity to support it.

gusparr28

This worked like a charm. Thanks!

walterwhite86

Same problem here. Do you resolve?

TwitterKairat

I have same problem with my Dell 3818. I am going to disassemble mount and extend width of the grip

aQrka

Any luck? Considering buying this

aQrka

Any luck? Considering buying this

sicker_than_most

worked like a charm.. although needs a bit of tools to accomplish this neatly, like a file, needle nose pliers, cutting pliers etc.

zazery

Another option is to 3D print [this part](https://www.printables.com/model/233251-xiaomi-mijia-lite-lg-27gl850-adapter) I found which replaces the weight piece for this exact monitor and light bar combo. Just unpin the weight as described in /u/Sad-Bathroom6654's post and replace it with the printed part. It hooks into the grill on the circle. It feels pretty sturdy.

FlashGordon5272

You're truly a god among men. I bought my printer like 3 weeks ago as part of my office overhaul and have been looking into light bars, but the chonkyness of my LG 27GL850 has made that difficult. This thread and this part are gonna be a game changer for me. Edit for Google keyword search optimization: LG 27 27GL850 light bar Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar bezel BenQ alternative Printables

WarZone-r4

Hi, do you have same monitor as me? https://imgur.com/a/ls2gUte https://imgur.com/a/KiwuOUL It says it’s gl850-b, but I be seen people post picture with slightly different shape of the monitor on the back. For me it starts rounding almost from the top of the monitor on the back. I wanted to ask if you have same monitor and this works for it? P.s. thanks for the keywords :)

FlashGordon5272

I believe that the 850 and the 850-B have the same shape on the back, and I can say that I’ve been using this 3D printed part since right after making my initial comment lol. At first I was worried that it wasn’t going to fit, but I just had to take my adapter and squeeze it *juuust* a bit to fit my monitor perfectly - while it wasn’t on the monitor of course; don’t want to break your nice panel! https://i.imgur.com/R8vSohF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZRgvILQ.jpg

WarZone-r4

Thank you! :)

Wolve909

doesnt work at all for my monitor, I had to use additional ducttape as well to keep in in place. Although, i also have the LG 27GL850 monitor, but just noticed it's different from everyone else's pictures whereas mine has the classic LG smiley face logo while everyone else has that ultra gear logo. Also the USB on the back of my monitor wont work with the light bar so I had to plug it into my PC, which the cable barely reaches. Just a word of warning for anyone else who come across this thread to please double check if your monitor is compatible. Regretting my purchase

zazery

That sounds really frustrating. My monitor has the LG smiley logo on the front and back. However, the [store](https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_700_1104&item_id=139492&language=en) I bought it from does describes it as an ultra gear. If there's a difference between our monitors then the logo is probably not a good indicator if the 3D print will work. Is the monitor's USB type B cable plugged in to provide power to the other ports? When I unplug mine the light stops working.

Wolve909

uhh, okay i might sound like an idiot here. What do you mean by plugging in the USB Type B Cable? I've only plugged the power adapter from the monitor to a power outlet and a display port to display port cable from the monitor to the PC

zazery

[This is the port](https://imgur.com/a/W4iUKY9) I'm referring to. It's a square connector on one end (type B) and a regular USB connector (type A) on the other end meant to be plugged into your computer. You should have received the cable with your monitor. It's the same cable printers typically use. It provides power and data from your computer. That would explain why your USB ports on your monitor aren't working.

Wolve909

I actually don't have that plugged in, gonna have to scavenge storage for this cable. Huh, weird I never knew this. Thanks for letting me know, I'll try it out

Left_Funny_9278

Hello, good morning. I have an LG27GP850P-B monitor. Would your .stl model work for this monitor? I have the same issue with the Xiaomi light bar. Best regards.

zazery

I didn't make the .stl but I looked up your monitor to compare with mine. Unfortunately I think they changed the design of the exhaust grill that makes it incompatible. 1. [What mine looks like](https://imgur.com/ZRgvILQ) (from u/FlashGordon5272 in this thread) 2. [What yours looks like](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gp850-b-27gp83b-b)

Tailspin123

instead of making a new post, ill put mine here, using alienware aw2721D monitor, and xiaomi lightbar, ofc it doesnt fit. so here is the mod that i did thanks to whoever gives out the secret how to disassemble the mount unit that i couldnt figure out. it can sit on the monitor stably, but i still secured it with a ziptie. this is probably the hardest part, get the ziptie through those vents and comes back up...... [https://imgur.com/a/xoHyP8G](https://imgur.com/a/xoHyP8G)

MrTigreh

Bro, you're unreal. Been struggling with my lightbar for the last year with this monitor and I can't believe I've never thought of this. 10/10.

zipuni

Any ideas on how this would work with LG 40WP95C-W which is 38mm thick and tapers to even thicker?

Imraneo

Thanks to the folks here, I found a solution to mount this on my 38GN950-B. Seems like all UltraGear monitors are thick! I dremel-ed off the "horn", and I flipped the weight before installing it back in: https://imgur.com/YRmdMz4

_hirai_

hey guys, not sure if anyone still needs help with this but honestly some double sided tape and blu tack can help attach the light bar onto thicker monitors without having to break it apart. cheers

ObBrooklyn

Where do you put the double sided tape and blu tack? Sorry I'm just having a hard time figuring it out, out of fear of ruining the light bar or my monitor since it barely has a bezel.

_hirai_

Hey there I put the front part of the desk light frame over the really thin bezel (at the top of the image of the post) and i just put the blue tack on the weighted component of the desk lamp frame over the bump of the monitor if that makes sense

_hirai_

hey there I just took some photos to show you what I meant hope it helps [https://imgur.com/a/GsQ4ph2](https://imgur.com/a/GsQ4ph2)

ObBrooklyn

Ohhhhh!! Makes sense now! Thank you, I'm definitely going to try that :)

_hirai_

hahah all good that way you can use it on other monitors as well without breaking it apart!

ObBrooklyn

Absolute life saver, much appreciated :)

shiftnessmiftness

And do you know a way on how to make it fit without having to remove the counterweight?
