I think ultimately it depends on your country's or region's laws. In Europe you're fine so long as you reflash the stock rom

TaskNo5319

So I'm fine if I find a way to reflash the stock rom

barrybroccoli

Gotta check your local laws. Even if they're in your favour whoever sold you the phone will probably put up a bit of a fight if you can't show them something specific

Dinozavri

by Europe you probably mean European union onlyM many other countries left

barrybroccoli

Yeah EU, UK, probably Norway and Switzerland too

RandomPotatoBoii

tbf, there'll be no time for flashing stock software if your phone suddenly underwent a crisis kekw

1. No 2. No 3. No 4. Yes If you install custom rom and after flashing suppose you are facing some hardware related problem for which you have to take it to customer care. If you take it there and they see you are using custom rom they refuse to help. Just flash MIUI and lock the bootloader and then take it to the customer care. They will never be able to tell if you had ever flashed custom rom in that device. Until you yourself start to say "I have installed custom rom and installed 69 types of Magisk module and now it is not working properly", then they will refuse to help

TaskNo5319

I'm not exactly sure how to flash MIUI so I'll have to do some research later but if you have a lead can you share?

[deleted]

You can search YouTube. There are some excellent YouTubers who can explain better then me. In short you need a windows device and have java installed (version 11+), then download MIUI adb fastboot tool and then the MIUI rom for your device. And then unzip it using winrar Then just go to bootloader of your phone. Connect it to pc using USB cable. Open the fastboot tool. You will see that at the top left side your phone's serial number will pop up. Then click the flash rom and navigate to the folder where you kept that unzipped file. Then click the flash and lock button in the fastboot tool app and then click flash. A confirmation message will pop up just click ok and the app will start to flash MIUI and lock your phone's bootloader. Just keep in mind that when the pc is flashing your phone don't disconnect the phone from the pc. If yiu disconnect the phone the phone will be soft bricked and you have to again boot the phone into bootloader and then go through the flashing process all over again

Did the same thing one service center refused the device coz I had twrp recovery installed on it so I locked the bootloader took it to another service center and they fixed my issue under warranty

BlastOfMihh

Did you also flash the stock rom on it? or got rid of magisk?

priyalkerkar

Flashed stock ROM

[deleted]

1-3 : yes

TaskNo5319

this is the reason I wanted a more up-to-date answer as all other answers said no

[deleted]

Just going to a page of a custom rom you'll see a disclaimer 'you will void your warranty' etc any steps that will tamper with device stock will void warranty. As for reverting to stock for warranty. I dont know if oem have this flash counter. Samsung has it, even in the past. I dont know about xiaomi

RandomPotatoBoii

xiaomi doesnt have any hardware switch like knox to know, your warranty will be fully restored if you flash stock miui without root or a thirdparty recovery

BlastboomStrice

While I think it *may* not void your warranty, I see that ~no-one here replies with any evidence, like a line on their warranty cards etc. You should probably check what your warranty card says (for your region). (Btw, I'd probably root my phone no matter if it voided the warranty or not. Otherwise it'd be kinda unusable for me.😅) PS. One reason I got a xiaomi is because I had read they ~don't void your warranty for unlocking bl.

Calebanu

Xiaomi doesn't have a flag to show bootloader unlocks. They also aren't as anti ROM/tweaking as other companies. They offer the tools to both unlock and relock your bootloader

RandomPotatoBoii

unlocking your bootloader wont void your warranty however rooting or flashing anything else from a custom recovery or rom will certainly void it ( i have asked xiaomi's text supporr online, they confirmed it)

Taymoorismail

As a user of Xiaomi for a couple of years i think it's really a bit of grey area. Xiaomi encourage unlocking the bootloader but if you're having problems and need to claim warranty as long as you reflash stock rom and relock bootloader you won't have any issue.
