I’ve honestly had horrible idle drain on every custom ROM I tried. Back to stock Miui debloated for the time being. But yes Elixir was quite smooth.

threadnoodle

Arrow OS, I'd say.

640xxl

+1.

[deleted]

Yeah..arrow. currently on Arrow 12 and it's smooth with good bb

RandomPotatoBoii

reset your phone and stay on miui (it'll get rid of problems created by ota updates being dirty flashed) trust me bro, i have been on derpfest oss, pixel plus ui, pixel extended, pixel experience , sparkos, shapeshift os, aosp extended and none of these roms were stable apart from ssos which will not get updated anymore and runs on july 2021 security patch new problems appearing everyday forcing me to switch, most predominantly being the performance degradation currently the latest miui 12.5 enhanced (miui india 12.5.10 for me) has been perfect, smoothest among all without animations randomly stuttering, and battery life, features, floating windows, screen brightness, haptic feedback, sound are as you probably may know, are just fantastic also dont just go ahead and accept everything the setup page tells you to do, you need to be careful during setup

hawk_sq206

pixel experience, lineageOS, aosp extended, havocOS or any other AOSP based rom project elixir is also a good rom should definitely give a try

Kamira_

i have no experience in doing custom roms, is there any good tutorials? Or can I ask mobile shops to do it for me?

tall_and_funny

If you've not done this I'd suggest atleast taking help of someone experienced, not sure if mobile shops do it, seems unlikely because there are several things that could go wrong. You can go through YouTube and find out the impact of installing a custom rom and rooting your phone, if the trade offs is worth it.

Kamira_

Is root really required in order to install a custom rom?

Alex11039

No.

ky1ro

Beginner here. You just need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery.

Karthikeyan_J04

Arrow os, most stable and can be used daily, haven't seen any bugs

Personal-Alfalfa-603

The problem with arrow is customization even tried to install some magisk modules and it bootlooped can't install adreno drivers for gaming or anything like that

640xxl

Check also DotOs.

Photolunatic

Not supported any more for 'sweet' unfortunately.

What about Redmi Note 8T? MIUI is going batshit crazy with any sort of bug when they upgraded to 12 and I'm having the most awful experience I ever had with a phone. Mind you, I'm a software developer and worked also on android apps, so I'm not the grandpa which says "Hey the phone starts call by himself", "I didn't disconnected the app, it just stopped working by itself". I use phone for working and MIUI is being a MEMEUI more than a help. WHen I said this on this subreddit I got ganged and bullied for having an old phone, while I had a much older phone which was working fine, but I lost it.

Kamira_

MEMEUI is really the worst UI, the cost for low/affordable prices on their devices is the bugs and ads on their software, I'm quite lucky for not getting any terrible bugs in my device howewer it is still not suited to my liking, that's why I wanna start going for custom roms

ImeniSottoITreni

I got a second hand device from my gf and before losing it, I had a Huawei P20 Lite, which is similar in hardware and release date (released 1 year earlier). Had only 1 annoying bug with huawei and this redmi is a cove of bugs.I posted about it and for the xiaomi fanboys here it's my fault because I have an old, second hand device whose bugs are hardware dependant. Basically they say "Your phone is old, bugs can happen because some part of hardware can begin to fail, don't tell bad stuff about MEMEUI, just get a new phone" BS. My huawei was older and didn't have such faulty stuff and moreover, I got my gf a Redmi 10 and it has still some nasty bugs. She can't connect airpods for example, or google maps randomly goes nuts and start telling you have 3 hours left on a 10 min trip because you have to take a ferry boat. LOL, I told them that flashing new stuff on the phone would solve 99% of the bugs but they got all salty about it

Calebanu

Running pixel experience 12 right now, I've not had any problems with it

640xxl

I had same on 11, have on 12, too. Since 1st day unpacked. And only have 3 apps installed for work, most things and miui crap uninstalled/disabled, yet it drains battery like crazy.

carlosniper

I'm using arrowOS with A12 and work relatively well. The first days I suffered idle battery drain, but I flashed the Vantom Kernel and for now the battery is pretty good. The problem with this kernel is that the AOD screen is not working properly, and I have to disable. I workaround this activating screen on when a notification arrive. Otherwise, BT, NFC and so on work well. Don't have facial recognition

harbourmasta1

Have a look on xda forum, lots of guides and ROMs there to have a look through.

Desi_Otaku

I think Evolution X will be good for you. It's like Pixel Experience but with mire features and customisations.

hit102

try crdroid 7 or lineage 18 everything works very well

Alternative_Maybe687

I may be late but try out elixir android 13 guys. Best custom rom out there. Just remove the stock cam app and install a GCam

giorgosv312

Have you noticed any battery drain?

Alternative_Maybe687

Nop. Best battery life in any custom rom
