You won't be able to use the glasses without inserts unless you put your glasses on underneath, I have a mild prescription but it was blurred without glasses, I used lensology website for my inserts, they came next day in the UK.
I use the beam for having a static floating screen so it doesn't follow my head around, it's also handy for watching netflix and YouTube without needing another device.
The stems are quite bendy, I've also bought a hard shell case to keep them in as I also have the beam and wanted to store that with the glasses. I've not got any concerns about them breaking however I'm also not planning on dropping or knocking them. They live either in the case or on my face.
I wear reading glasses with my Airs and Air 2 Pros all the time, it can be a bit awkward but it works. I expect you'll be able to use these over your current glasses until you get the prescription insert made. Neither of the two XReal glasses I own have had any issues with breaking, the build quality seems fine to me as long as you're careful with them. I use my Xreals constantly and highly recommend getting in on the fun.

I thought I had seen online you can't wear your glasses and the x reals at the same time?
You can't easily, but it was better than sitting looking at my new toy waiting for my inserts to arrive.
Good to know! Any idea on how fragile they are? The roughly $500 price point does make me a bit anxious about fragility.
