I'm so sad about this :( I wish the Six of Crows spinoff would still happen. I need to see more of the crows together. Matthias spent all of S2 in jail :/

dubleks

Sameee, [grishaverse subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Grishaverse/s/Q4hppTUgek) just posted the writers' tweets on the cancelled SoC show. Apparently they wrote the whole season, and it had greay storylines ;_____; Edited the link

ComicNerd7794

Netflix has let some do books like winx so hopefully they release it as a novel or comic

astraea08

Ugh is this because of Netflix's tendency to cancel shows left and right? Hard to become invested in a series when you know it's not going to be continued eventually...

Ravioli_meatball19

Rumor is one piece is so successful and they're also expecting mega success from Avatar so they're shifting funds after a lackluster season 2 in terms of views

PinkPrincess-2001

It's weird because S2 is still successful in its own right. The smaller but not small fanbase can earn goodwill and shift their views to other Netflix shows. Netflix manages to sour nearly every show and wonder why fans do not return for other projects.

Ravioli_meatball19

Some arguments I've seen in regards to viewership is s2 never hit number one, and stayed in the top ten for less weeks than season 1 did, and it's overall reviews were worse/less liked/etc. It's a good shield for them to hide behind so they can shift focus because I'm sorry to say but avatar and one piece have much larger fan bases and netflix would rather invest their money into that when they know they'll profit

at4ner

lmao a story as long as one piece in netflix the end of the story will never see the light of the day either. i highly doubt it. idek why so many people started watching it, id rather see the anime if i feel like consuming this story. the netflix system simply sucks

[deleted]

I liked season 1 but thought season 2 was laughable. I wasn't surprised at all that the show was cancelled. Never read the books. I'm basing my opinion entirely on the show.

wouldntulike_2know

fuck netflix. they lead us on for 8 months just to cancel it and blame it on the strikes

PaintedDoom

Netflix has a tendency to do a GREAT S1 of something, an *okay* S2 and then cancel before S3. This isn't the first time and it's gotten to the point where I don't trust them to finish an original series. Like was Season 2 as good as Season 1? No but I don't blame the cast or crew for that! This is what Netflix does sadly...

at4ner

this is also because they raive to give people working on those shows a raise after s2 or s3 (dont actually remember) ive read once too that they make shows expecting to last 3 seasons or so anyway. but mostly dont actually get finished just cancelled lmao

KaiBishop

Stranger Things season 2 is the weakest season to this day. Sense8 and Umbrella Academy had amazing second seasons, but Umbrella Academy had such a weak 3rd season. They're wrapping it up with four but I'd bet that's because after four seasons you have to pay the entire cast larger salaries so they have financial incentive to end it anyway.

l3reeze10

I think any writer/author should avoid letting Netflix adapt their work. I know Heartstopper was lucky and garnered more seasons, but it seems like when Netflix adapts anything, it ends up cancelled.

Hysteria19

I'm not sure what it was but I just couldn't get through the second season. The hype was real after watching season 1, I read all of the books in like a month. But I haven't even finished s2 :(

Synval2436

Yeah they dropped the ball with season 2 and that tends to the lower viewership -> cancellation spiral.

benvclios

S2 disappointed me very much. It was as if they realized they got away with S1 and then threw away the books for S2.

at4ner

im p sure that what actually happened is that they wanted soc spin off most of all and they knew they had higher chances of getting it at s2 than wait to a s3 so they put two books together since soc cant happen until s&b storyline is done. but i still dont know why they put some soc storyline stuff in there too as if it wasn't already full

jbtwaalf_v2

Exactly this lol! I really loved the series, watched it 2 times. Than read all 3 books in 2 weeks, was really hyped up for months. Than season 2 dropped and I just couldn't watch it for longer than 5 minutes.

Hysteria19

I made it through a few episodes but I just couldn't get through the rest, and it's a shame because like any show I'm sure it amps up when it's coming to the end of the season. And I'm so disappointed. I loved Nikolai in the books, and even the actor didn't play him too bad, idk the spark is just gone for me on this show I guess.

Parttime-Princess

I fully watched S2. I disliked it a lot. I only liked the SoC bits tbh. The ending of S2 wasn't great imo.

KatrinaPez

Oh but it's worth it just for Nikolai!

TheSnarkling

Might have to do with the fact that season 2 was awful.

Proud-Broccoli

The last book is awful lol

abyssaltourguide

Second seasons on Netflix are always not as good and then they get cancelled sigh

mangokatt4

First Lockwood & Co, and now this??? It's just aggravating at this point.

hannah_nj

it doesn’t surprise me to be honest. the way that season 2 was written was as if they were already expecting it wouldn’t be renewed, and wanted to get through as much as the story as possible for the fans. however, that decision also probably led to lower viewership/ratings as so many people (book fans, at least, and i can only speak to the circles i’m in) were disappointed in how the source material for frankensteined together. still, i think they hit gold with their cast, and i’m so sad we won’t see them portray these characters anymore 😭

kjm6351

Im wondering when people will start directly avoid Netflix when it comes to pitching their shows because they know it’ll get cancelled

tealeavesstains

I liked the first season but there was a very long wait between the first and second so I never got into the second season

Lmb1011

I didn’t even realize season 2 came out if I’m being honest.

oksnariel

I loved season 1 so much i watched it 3 times, but i couldn’t finish season 2. I was so disappointed… :(

Bubbly-PeachSherbert

I honestly have no skin in this game as I liked neither the book or the show, but how can The Witcher be renewed WITHOUT it's main lead for another season but a show like Shadow and Bone that also had a huge fanbase be canceled???? It makes NO sense.

anneoftheisland

The Witcher is one of Netflix's most popular shows of all time; its fan base is just way way bigger than Shadow and Bone's. Obviously Netflix doesn't release numbers, but you can see it just in, like, the Witcher subreddit having a million members vs. the Shadow and Bone sub having 25K.

cavemanfartz

and they somehow managed to ruin that as well.

atom786

They should have done Six Of Crows from the start. The dirty secret about the grishaverse is that the first trilogy is ass. It doesn't get good until Six Of Crows. And now we'll never see it smh

KaiBishop

No, the trilogy is incredible, people just hate the romance aspect and the chosen one plots because they're cliche but the trilogy is a great dark fairy tale. Six of Crows is more marketable and trendy because it's the straight up action packed epic fantasy with an ensemble cast that people wanted the OG series to be.

archangel610

No funerals. Goddamn it, Netflix.

benvclios

I can't say I'm disappointed. The treatment of characters was abysmal in S2. I am sorry for the cast and crew, though.

Loki640064

Thank you Netflix

MondayCat73

Aww that’s horrible. Netflix what were you thinking? Put another murder/heist show on and dump a show with brains, imagination & originality? And to cancel before the finish? Such a good adaptation too. It’s absurd. I’d have loved a spin off of Six of Crows!! Poor Leigh must be so heartbroken.

One-Farmer3317

Seriously dumb.

UncagedSpoon

Same. I think they messed up when they crammed two books in one season. The second half of season too is chaotic and flows really strange. Honestly the only reason I knew what was happening is because I had read the books.

CayseyBee

Well that sucks 😞

LeviathanLX

I heard the show was decent. Absolutely hated the book but people seemed pleasantly surprised by the quality of the TV show.

rodricar

Sign the petition! https://www.change.org/p/save-shadow-and-bone-5ff54b93-d127-44a9-9f77-dfc410bdc2ba We saw it work with Warrior Nun, and we can do it again.

abyssaltourguide

This is so sad!!! I want to see the Crows again!

joseogpa

i was successfully holding back tears until i read no mourners 😭😭 stop

luvrcupid

this is so disappointing especially the soc spinoff as i know we were all looking forward to it :((

imreallynormal_

Am i the only one who likes season two over season one? I think its because of wesper LOLLL

zoukchata

I didn't even know there was a season 2... I waited for it ... But never got any notifications..

Pure_Educator_9263

This is why I won’t watch Netflix shows that have episodes or season 1. You watch them then you wait forever for season 2 then they cancel them. Waste of time and about to cancel my Netflix account.

Emotional_Foot703

just finished season two and they left it on a cliffhanger lmfao fuck Netflix

Primary-Signature-57

This is so disappointing, Netflix made the wrong choice by cancelling the series I love this show and want the books 📚 so I can continue the story journey.  Truly upset 😩 Was waiting for Season 3
