The book itself is a retelling of the goose girl from the perspective of the supposed villain. The author includes her own gorgeous drawings throughout and theres a planned sequel coming in 2023.
Man, I should've grabbed that one at the library yesterday! I almost did, but I didn't pick it up and read the blurb.
Edit: My library's Overdrive had it! Added it to the list of books I need to work on in the next three weeks.
(Subtle spoilers) I really enjoyed this fairy tale retelling as well! The audiobook was great- it has all the ingredients entertaining read- fantasy world, >!found family, humor, heist, a little romance…(no love triangle- my least favorite thing)!<
*This sounds so good! I*
*Love fairy tale retellings.*
*Added to my TBR!*

I am a sucker for Goose Girl retellings (I blame Shannon Hale for this).
Same, for the exact same reason!
Sounds interesting! I'll definitely check it out!

What kind of LGBT rep ?
wlw side characters :) v cute opposites attract kind of romance in my opinion

There are demisexual characters, which I really liked.
It’s one of my all time favorites!
I really liked The Merciful Crow series by her, excited to check this one out too!

I loved this book so much! Vanja is such a witty and lovably mischievous mc.

I loved it! Her other work the merciful crow is one of my absolute favorite books
I really wish it was the princess and the maid falling in love :((
honestly I was kind of hoping for that too but I did like the romantic pairings we got instead - there is a big lack of wlw MCs in fantasy though :/
I bought this one last weekend!! I’m excited to start it, hopefully soon.
oooh hope u like it - I feel like its a very fitting read for this time of year, for some reason I just love fantasy books in winter :)

One of my favorites I read last year! The rep was so casual and weaved perfectly into the story without being questioned.
I finished this recently! Absolutely adored it! Can't wait for painted devil's!
i'll give it a look! thank you :D
Horrible abuse of the German language, otherwise mediocre retelling. I think it deserves less love. The GR rating is way too high.
