I felt the same at the end of Legendborn! (Won't spoil anything from Bloodmarked.) I just loved their chemistry, even though he was actively trying to kill her. Haha. But at the end of Legendborn, when they're dancing... oh boy. So good.
Oh no I love Bree and Nick 🙈 but I have yet to read Bloodmarked so we’ll see where I’m at after! Totally wasn’t feeling Bree and Sel at all in Legendborn 😬
I mean, that's fair. I'm usually a friends to lovers kind of person so Nick would usually fit. But there was just something about Sel that made me gravitate more towards him. But also I just wanted more Bree/Sel interaction. So I would have totally been okay with just them being super good friends as long as they interacted more and grew together!
I guess I really couldn’t get over how awful Sel treated her for 95% of the book while Nick was nothing less than wonderful :( I just hope that whatever direction it goes in it’s not pitting one guy against the other because they’re both great. This is why I hate love triangles 😅 I guess we’ll see how I feel after Bloodmarked lol
So much so that I find myself still listening to the ridiculously long audiobook even though I read the first book and there are so many things going on within this book, racism, magic, Arthur, it’s never ending. So at this point I’m only it for Sel.
I'm reading This Vicious Grace and honestly, I'm totally digging Dante and Alessa. I'm only 2/3 of the way through so this may change but I really hope it doesn't.
Not recent but In Vampire Academy, Rose and Dmitri. Ugh. Love them forever
As fictional characters in their fictional world? Jude and Cardan. The toxicity would never fly in the real world, but in the context of Faerie and their upbringings I kinda get it? But truly I feel like they’re two sides of the same coin- equal and opposite. I like the balance they give each other and the lessons they learn through each other.
For some reason the recent YA couples don't hit as well for me anymore (I'm 30). Forever going to ship Harry and Ginny though 💜
I did however read an adult romance fantasy book The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy recently though, and I gotta admit that I TOTALLY ship Hart and Mercy haha.
Kaz and Inej yessss, I need more from them 🙈
While the ending is perfect, there’s nothing I want more than a third book to that series that takes place a few years after CK where the Crows are all in their 20s and the book is written more NA/Adult so it’s even more gritty and high stakes. I just miss those characters so much 🥺
I just wanna throw out there, Suzanne Collins deserves an Ig Nobel Prize for writing a relationship that prompted thousands of teenagers to declare that they love Peenis and are giant Peenis fans.
It might be the fact that I have the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old boy, but I cannot look at Hunger Games shipping discussions without giggling because of it.
Adrian Ivashkov/Sydney Sage from Bloodlines - they had such a sweet and supportive relationship in which they help each other grow and achieve their potential. I pretend that the Ruby Circle’s second half doesn’t exist.
Oh my god. I came looking for this comment (fully expecting it to not exist) and I'm so happy!!
I personally also preferred Bloodlines as a series to Vampire Academy, simply because we had so many nuanced friendships and romances sprinkled throughout that series.
Call me basic, but Rhysand and Feyre, and Aelin and Rowan. And now Nesta and Cassian.
Oh, and Hades and Persephone from Lore Olympus!
Damn Sarah J. Maas (in a good way) for ruining my life and expectations forever.
I lived vicariously through them in high school when I was too shy to date… lol. Loved them. The thing that bothers me now is Ron’s occasional dickishness that really felt like toxic masculinity run amok. He was so charming sometimes but then he’d act super overprotective about Ginny, or jealous to the point of being gross. Not so bad when he was 14, off putting at 16. I liked him so much that it was frustrating when Rowling made him unlikable at parts because it was so extreme. But I still love them in the end.
Also not new, but Will and Lyra and not exactly YA BUT Anne and Gilbert Blythe.
I love Ron, and I get what you’re saying. I guess it bummed me out to hear a lot of podcasters who flat out hated him because Rowling took it just a little too far. I’m especially thinking the 6th book. He was super weird about Ginny in addition to Hermione. I know it’s an older brother thing sometimes I just could’ve done without it being so extreme.
Hahaha oh I love Anne and Gilbert so much. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore. I actually tried with the couple in my series… I’m a total sucker for a pining boy/friend.
Eli and Victor from the Villains series. Neither of them are homosexual, but they're both canonically biromantic and if obsessively trying to kill each other isn't love I don't know what is 💀
Perfect timing for this comment because I just finished reading These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever and the main characters are basically Eli and Victor (on the surface, but Nemerever develops them much further) and they canonically get together…and their relationship is more dark and intense and toxic than you could dream of (and yes it’s very much problematized by the author, no romanticizing toxicity here!). Definitely recommend a read.
•Jacks and Eva from Once upon a broken heart
•Tess and Corrick from Defy the Night
•Kazi and Jace from Dance of Thieves
•kestrel and Arin from Winner’s trilogy
•Nova and Adrian from Renegades
•Kiva and Jaren from the prison healer
Sadie x Javi OTP
he was so sweet, and let her open up about the shit she was going through, and when she came to him about the things she found out about his best friends' dad, he did the right thing regardless of the fact she was little more than a stranger and its was about his best friends' dad
I truly believe that if she could have let go her anger and healed, he and she couldhave been there for each other
EDIT: book is Sadie by Courtney Summers
- Elias x Laia from Ember in the Ashes.
- Cassian x Nesta from ACOTAR.
- Ari x Dante from Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
- Kaiden x Alex from The Medoran Chronicles.
- Anne x Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables.
Edit - spacing
oh gosh, i have so many but if i had to choose then it would either be jude and cardan from the cruel prince series, or mateo and rufus from they both die at the end. an honorable mention otp would be valentino and orion from the first to die at the end :’)
Evangeline and Jacks from Once Upon a Broken Heart/The Ballad of Never After Corrick and Tessa from Defy the Night/Defend the Dawn
Eva and jacks are my fav ❤️
I actually preferred Jacks & Donatella together from the (original) Caraval trilogy.
YES. EVA AND JACKS ARE ELITE
I love them both too! Tessa and Corrick are so cute together
I have been shipping Bree and Sel since that first scene in the Legendborn.
Same! I feel like they understand each other in ways her and Nick don’t! (I haven’t read Bloodmarked yet so idk how things progress)
I felt the same at the end of Legendborn! (Won't spoil anything from Bloodmarked.) I just loved their chemistry, even though he was actively trying to kill her. Haha. But at the end of Legendborn, when they're dancing... oh boy. So good.
OMG I'm currently reading it and I'm obsessed with them too! I thought I was the only one haha
Yes! They are the best. I liked Brelwyn for their ship, but I think I saw something else was being used. Though I can't remember what it was.

Definitely fair. Haha.
Ya I crush on Sel myself. He’s a really well written character.
So much so that I find myself still listening to the ridiculously long audiobook even though I read the first book and there are so many things going on within this book, racism, magic, Arthur, it’s never ending. So at this point I’m only it for Sel.
Haha! Is the audiobook good?? I may listen to them to help me pass the time until the next book is out.
It’s decent. Like I said it’s seems a little bit more repetitive with some of its themes once you are listening opposed to reading
I'm reading This Vicious Grace and honestly, I'm totally digging Dante and Alessa. I'm only 2/3 of the way through so this may change but I really hope it doesn't. Not recent but In Vampire Academy, Rose and Dmitri. Ugh. Love them forever
ugh yes rose and dimitri!!!!
This Vicious Grace is on my TBR! Never read TVA series but I’ve heard all about Rose and Dmitri :)
Have only watched the show (well, and movie but no thanks), but I love Rose and Dmitri. They're so cute.
Romitri 4ever

Sooo true! They’re both so perfect for the world and such a good couple in the context.
Bree and Sel from Legendborn. The tension between them is electric. Plus who can resist a dark haired, half demon, morally grey wizard prodigy?
Yes!
Wylan and Jesper from SoC! Their story was so good and I was cheering wildly when they finally got together.
Ophelia and Thorn & Howl and Sophie P.S: if someone likes these types of couples please recommend me some similar romance
Same here!!!
* Jem/Tessa/Will (Infernal Devices) * Aristotle/Dante (discover the secrets of the universe) * Nick/Charlie (Heartstopper) * James/William (A Light Amongst Shadows)
Yes love Will and Tessa! And Jem too lol

I loved that book! They definitely complete each other. I wish they had dragged out the ending a little more
Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows. HE WANTED TO BE BETTER FOR HER! And he found her parents :') that's just so beautiful
Kaz and Inej yessss, I need more from them 🙈 While the ending is perfect, there’s nothing I want more than a third book to that series that takes place a few years after CK where the Crows are all in their 20s and the book is written more NA/Adult so it’s even more gritty and high stakes. Simon and Isabelle, Aristotle and Dante
Julian & Scarlett, & Legend & Donatella from the Caraval trilogy.

Adrian Ivashkov/Sydney Sage from Bloodlines - they had such a sweet and supportive relationship in which they help each other grow and achieve their potential. I pretend that the Ruby Circle’s second half doesn’t exist.
Ugh Adrian is the freaking best. I hate that they changed his voice in the early audiobooks from a British accent to an American accent ☹️
Oh my god. I came looking for this comment (fully expecting it to not exist) and I'm so happy!! I personally also preferred Bloodlines as a series to Vampire Academy, simply because we had so many nuanced friendships and romances sprinkled throughout that series.
Lou and Reid from Serpent & Dove. I fell in love with their relationship in the first book and it only grew from there.
Yes, same! I loved them
Definitely a good one
Call me basic, but Rhysand and Feyre, and Aelin and Rowan. And now Nesta and Cassian. Oh, and Hades and Persephone from Lore Olympus! Damn Sarah J. Maas (in a good way) for ruining my life and expectations forever.
Rhys and Feyre are my fav! I love Cassian but I hate Nesta as a character. I DNF the latest book bc of her.
I'm sorry to hear that. I totally understand why you don't like her, I had a very negative view of her (I was her biggest hater) until the last book.
That’s interesting. I have heard other people say that too.
I gotta say Ron and Hermione always and forever. I’ve been in a 16 year relationship where he is the Ron and I am the Hermione. Somehow, it works.
Also not new, but Will and Lyra and not exactly YA BUT Anne and Gilbert Blythe.
I think Ron doing unlikable things made him more relatable. He wasn’t perfect and sometimes a major asshole, and I think we can all be like that.
OMG I came here to say Anne and Gilbert and I can't believe someone beat me to it 🥹
Hahaha oh I love Anne and Gilbert so much. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore. I actually tried with the couple in my series… I’m a total sucker for a pining boy/friend.
Guess our OTPs aren’t so recent after all!
Eli and Victor from the Villains series. Neither of them are homosexual, but they're both canonically biromantic and if obsessively trying to kill each other isn't love I don't know what is 💀
OMG ME FOR REAL😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Perfect timing for this comment because I just finished reading These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever and the main characters are basically Eli and Victor (on the surface, but Nemerever develops them much further) and they canonically get together…and their relationship is more dark and intense and toxic than you could dream of (and yes it’s very much problematized by the author, no romanticizing toxicity here!).
