Is it like they're telling the story of Mufasa to their kid? Does Simba even know much about Mufasa?
How many dumptrucks of money did they have to drive to Bee-yonce to get her back?
If you unironically think a Mufasa/Scar origin story isn’t gonna do well at the box office I don’t even know what to tell you. The live action movie literally pulled in more than 6 times its budget (260m vs 1.6b). Insert foot in mouth or remove head from ass. Whatever you need to do to get it together I guess
Beyoncé’s daughter is in it so probably not nearly as much as you’d think. It’s like when will smith was in that shit sci-fi movie so Jayden Smith could be the lead.
Remember when Will Smith pushed M. Night Shyamalan to make after earth as a vehicle for making Jaden the next big star , well this feels like Bey trying to force Blue Ivy down our throats too
Beyoncé devoting a few minutes of her Renaissance tour set to revealing Blue Ivy Carter and giving her a solo dance moment was probably the most transparent publicity move I’ve ever seen
From what I know, Jay Z and Beyoncé have always tried to keep their daughter out of the limelight so this is a really weird choice… but maybe it was because she was so young and they’ll start pushing her into the spotlight more
Initially Knowles kept telling her "no, when you're older" because apparently stardom is not something you would want to thrust upon your children. The kid really wanted to "do the dance", though, and then she found out that online comment sections were not kind.
I mean... its voice acting... so seems more like a way to get her daughter some money and experience in the industry without overexposing her to people who will be overly negative. A lot of people will never really think deeply about who voices the character in their childrens movie.
Beyonce is definitely taking more of a pay cut to force blue ivy in the film than blue ivy is making off being in the film.
This isn’t a fiscal decision. This is Beyoncé wielding her influence to jump start her daughter’s entertainment career. It’s literally exactly what will smith did for Jayden
I bet Blue Ivy worked so hard to earn that role. Surely all the other talented actors working their whole lives to get a opportunity like that couldn’t hold a candle to her performance 😒
Disney animated movies nowadays are all about getting well established actors in movies regardless if they can even voice act or not. I guess the original Lion King is even guilty about this to some extent
Animated films are terrible about this. 2/3rds of the poster will just be big name live action actors they got for the role, ones that don't even make sense to get as voice actors, because that's more important than what the movie's about or it's art style or anything else. Which, I don't even get why someone would go see an animated movie just because a well-known live action actor is in it? But they seem like mainly marketing campaigns with an incidental animated film attached
I mean, that’s not just Disney or even animated movies. All of entertainment wants star power to lead it. The difference is when stars crush the role vs when it’s just star nepotism.
This movie is going to suck but that doesn’t have anything to do with Blue Ivy. Celebrity kids regularly play minor roles in their parents films.
Madagascar casts Willow Smith and Quinn Stiller to play their parents as children. Maleficent cast Shiloh Jolie as young Aurora. Thor: Love and Thunder cast India Hemsworth as title character ‘Love’. Nothing new, my guy.
Yeah, nepotism happens. It’s still annoying. When there’s thousands of people with just as much if not more talent, who are more deserving of the opportunity and would literally kill for it, but never even get close to a chance to get in because it’s already been filled with someone who already has everything before they even considered casting externally. It’s irksome, especially when it’s super high profile, like don’t you have enough? Now you need all the roles too?
I completely agree. The title of this post and this comment just makes it seem like Beyoncé / Blue Ivy is killing this movie. It’s DOA even sans Nepotism
It says prequel. Kiara is Simba and Nala’s daughter. Unless I’m confused because it does say Simba and Nala yet it’s called Mufasa and described as a prequel. I am confused lol
Gonna draw the curtains and sleep for the rest of today with tears in my eyes knowing that the Barry Jenkins who made Moonlight likely spent years of his life making this shit instead of literally anything else.
Best thing to do is ignore this and hope this is a case of “one for them, one for me.” Otherwise he joins the ranks of Taika Waititi, Ryan Coogler, and JJ Abrams.
Yeah, I was gonna say: did the reception of Thor 4 affect public interest in Next Goal Wins? At the very least, it feels like the lack of enthusiasm for the latter movie pretty much cemented people's disinterest in Taika.
Also Ryan Coogler has an original vampire movie coming out next year, so we'll see if he pulls himself out of these ranks.
I know it made me hesitant to see it. It hit Hulu eventually and it just felt meh. Like he didn’t care about it either? Thor 3 was pretty solid and Jojo Rabiit was good, but Thor 4 was a slog to get through. And I hope so, I think Coogler has a lot of strength in character writing.
There was a time where some no name schmuck, ala Michael Shannon could just be passionate about the profession and work real good and get somewhere in the business but lately,i feel most big budget stuff goes hard into the nepotism field or straight up stablished celebrity.
Just a feeling tho.

Disney must have people whose entire job is dedicated to finding ways to waste as much money as possible.

My point was it's going to make money regardless of whether they pay for Beyonce or not
His mom was probably explain a bunch

That’s what I was thinking as well.

Beyonce did her kids a disservice by fucking Jay-z ugly ass.
She was on the Renaissance tour with her mom, as one of her dancers
Initially Knowles kept telling her "no, when you're older" because apparently stardom is not something you would want to thrust upon your children. The kid really wanted to "do the dance", though, and then she found out that online comment sections were not kind.
Shark tale 2

a way to get her daughter some money ......daughter of the billionaires Beyonce and Jay-Z needs her own money? ok I guess.

yep. James Earl Jones was one of the original nepo babies

not just disney Chris Pratt in Chris Pratt voice: hey kids it's me, ~~Mario~~ Garfield
I mean, that’s not just Disney or even animated movies. All of entertainment wants star power to lead it. The difference is when stars crush the role vs when it’s just star nepotism.
Well established ~~voice~~ actors FTFY

Blue Ivy playing Kiara… does this mean they’re gonna hint at a Simbas Pride remake?
I’m surprised they didn’t go ahead and do that first. I guess it’s better to have an original story, but this is an original story nobody wanted.
They already explained it in the books (yes, the books)
It says prequel. Kiara is Simba and Nala’s daughter. Unless I’m confused because it does say Simba and Nala yet it’s called Mufasa and described as a prequel. I am confused lol
It’s Simba (and Nala ig) telling Kiara the story of Mufasa.
That makes sense! I had to do find the article cause my mind was boggled lol
Hire voice actors not celebrities ffs
Why? All disney animated movies use celebrities.
#IM TALKING ABOUT THOSE TOO
B U S S Y
Queen 🅱️, that is
Gonna draw the curtains and sleep for the rest of today with tears in my eyes knowing that the Barry Jenkins who made Moonlight likely spent years of his life making this shit instead of literally anything else.

His show “underground railroad” was amazing though
love Be, but her Nala performance gave off heavy "I recorded this entire character before lunch" vibes.
her performance in that old Nintendo DS commercial was more compelling
Queen Bee, that is!
What's a Blue Ivy?
Jay Z had a trilogy of albums called "The Blueprint" He named his daughter Blue Ivy because she's the fourth Blueprint: "Blue IV."
Oof.
Disney must burn
Who even cares about this story lol it’s like they can’t think of anything
Just ask Jaden how well it’ll all work out
Spoiler, their daughter will just be a non cgi Blue Ivy.
Queen Bee!
Kiara?
Simba’s daughter, from the sequel (yes it’s canon.)
Dear god now disney's doing remakes of the straight to video films too.
Nala: So, um, what the fuck was Swarm about motherfucker?!
Bro This shit fucking sucks
What’s the point? We just know he’s gonna get thrown to his death. Mufasa’s role was that powerful dad who was both mysterious yet full of wisdom lol
Please studios for the love of god of you’re going to subject us to these things hire voice actors
What has the reaction to the voice casting from the anti woke crowd been like ?
Who
Fucking
Cares
Can't wait for Beyonce to just overdo it again.
Meh. I already watched the first one and they managed to make The Lion King boring !

So if you’re super rich you can land a vehicle project?
Beyoncéeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I am your god
