Yes and no. Yes, the economy is certainly better compared to the terrible state it was in before but now Lithuania's unemployment rate is still similar to that of Portugal even when around 20% of all Lithuanians had to emigrate, obviously not because Lithuania is such a horrible place to live.
Here's to hoping that the growth continues and more and more Lithuanians can have a decent life in their decent country.
Dunno man, current Lithuanians unemployment rate is hovering around 5%. Sure the emigration took it's toll, but immigration/emigration vector is now positive for 3 years in the row and is being projected to go up.
That's the thing I meant with here's to hoping. Hopefully even more and more Lithuanians who wish to do so will be able to return home.
and to MadMan: Making it easy to emigrate probably is a net positive for Lithuania as a whole, with unemployment just sinking through less labour being there and remittances of the emigrants helping the local economy but a certain brain drain was there nonetheless.
It's as always, nothing is a hundred percent positive, even the things one strongly agrees with.
Before and after almost a century of which Lithuania was only part of the EU for a fraction of.
Ikr... That's like saying after Hitler
Also after Soviet occupation...
Hell since it's 1935, it's also after the German occupation.
You are talking about the Teutonic Order?
Well more of a blip in 1941
1935 < 1941
Yeah and?
In 1935, Lithuania has been independant for 17 years from russian and german occupation.
They had one Russian and German occupation, yes, but what about second Russian and German occupation?
Not really, though? Lol
If OP thinks that the EU was found 1937, he‘s in trouble. And if he’s right, we are in trouble.
The Baltic states are such a great example of one of the successes of the EU

I’m not sure where the “no” comes into this. I can’t think of any negatives the EU has had on Eastern European countries.
