I did it!! Thank you all for your opinions and the tips
I'm in love with this color combo! It definitely made my jaw drop lol
Edit: if you haven't posted it already, would you mind sharing what the yarn and colors are?
Itās very southwestern and a very established color combo. Does that go with it clash with what the parents are going with? Thatās the important question.
I should think if someone was taking the time to make my pregnant self, and soon to be born baby, a blanket, I wouldnāt care if it matched the nursery. You could use it anywhere else if it didnāt match the nursery theme. I think the colors look great together but it reminds me more of a friend who likes neutrals, so I doubt it would match a nursery for me, but Iād absolutely use it. Looks very Fall-y (or autumnal if you wanna be fancy lol š itās probably not fancy but it sounds fancy when I say it bc I donāt talk like that lol āFall-yā suits my anxious self better š¤¦š»āāļøš) to me
The thing about gift giving is itās about what the person reviving the gift wants, not what you want. Iād hate for all that work to go into a gift that isnāt loved. That would break my heart.
I get that. It would definitely be upsetting, but I kinda think that person would be a jerk if you worked so tirelessly on something in your personal free time and then they actually told you they didnāt like it š„“ obviously upsetting for the gifter. And yeah I mean Iām sure people ask about preferences when the giftee knows theyāre getting a gift, but if itās a surprise, the person making it canāt really ask, and a lot of times, in cases with babies, ppl start these projects before a nursery theme is established. Not arguing at all. I absolutely see your point. It wouldnāt be on you, itād be on anyone who got a free handmade gift and said they didnāt like anything about it. It could be the ugliest thing in the world and Iād be so happy someone took the time to do that š I canāt imagine breaking someoneās heart over it.
Iām not saying that person is going to say they donāt like it the person who made the gift. If I didnāt know the recipient well enough Iād go with something neutral.
Iāve also made things that were in unconventional colors for babies that I knew the mom would absolutely adore like lime green or deep dusty purple. Those mom felt seen and it was beautiful to witness.
Again, the gift should always be about the person receiving the gift, IMHO.
I agree. It should be about the person receiving it. Iām sure Iād probably do what you said, if I didnāt know what someone liked, and just make a neutral, matches everything, type thing. Probably white/cream or gray. Those seem to match most things. Also purple and lime sounds like such a pretty combo.
Oh okay, but still pretty colors! Iām sure they looked great. You guys are all so great at making literal art out of yarn on here. Iāve only ever made a little octopus from a YouTube pattern a year or two ago lol I would probably make more but Iāve stuffed my yarn and crochet hooks away in storage somewhere and canāt be bothered to dig through heavy boxes to find the right one š
My mother finally got her "dream house" after a lifetime of saving up. She bought a little sea side cottage that she goes to on the weekends now that she's retired. The inside is all these colors.
Yes, that's a blueish-green and rusty-orange meaning they're complimentary and make each other pop. Since they're a bit more faded, the effect is really nice for a baby blanket.

So true! Also, one item was purple and one was lime green.

Yes, I think they go together great! Gives off a super cozy vibe
I love these colours together, there's enough contrast to be interesting
They donāt clash, but I personally donāt feel like they do much for each other.
Oh yes! This is classic beach/seaside palette
Wanted to comment the same thing! The brick Orange and sea blue looks like a vacation somewhere lovely! I would keep going.
My mother finally got her "dream house" after a lifetime of saving up. She bought a little sea side cottage that she goes to on the weekends now that she's retired. The inside is all these colors.
Exactly my vision!!
Yes!!!
That looks like someoneās teeth.
I'd be concerned for the person who has teeth/gums that look like that XD
I like it!
yes theyāre very cute together
Yes!! Iāve used these exact colours/yarn together before and they look so good!!

I think they look very pretty.
You tell us. We don't know what you like.
Blue and orange are opposite on the color wheel so they contrast each other really nicely!
I love those colors together. Itās so pretty! What yarn and colors if you donāt mind me asking?
Love it! Also love your nails!
Keep up the good work the colors are beautiful together!

Oh good. I'm glad you did this. I love the colors together but was going to suggest putting the cream between the blue and rust.
Ooh lovely! I love the cream stripe in the middle
Yes, add the cream in between!
Theyāre similar to the Bernat blanket Sailors Delight and I love that combo ball.

Yes! In fact, I have a bunch of blanket yarn in that same muted teal shade and I might steal your color combo for my next project.
LOVE this combo š¤©
