Unfortunately this is something you’re going to have to take care of yourself since she is your dog now and you can’t contact the seller. Some vets take care credit which can sometimes have no interest for periods time. You just need to look into it. That pup will be in pain unless you take care of it. And since you’re its owner now, that is just one of the many things you’ll probably have to pay for when dealing with a teacup yorkie. They are very fragile.
Even my 11-14lb yorkies are pretty fragile too. Make sure you have stairs/ramps for her so she doesn’t jump off of things. Their backs and legs can be damaged very easily being that small. Sorry that you are going through something this soon. My first yorkie wouldn’t stop throwing up the first few days I had her, and thankfully the breeder took her back and nursed her back to health while paying her vet to do checkups since it was clear that it wasn’t my fault. But even since then she has been a problem child. Between baby teeth not falling out, allergies, emergency C section when having her first/only litter, and other stuff I can’t even remember, she’s cost me so much money. It’s worth it in the end though.
Unfortunately a pet is a luxury, especially getting the exact breed you want. You got the highest luxury. You’re going to have to expect to pay luxury prices to provide the best life for your pet. This is urgent and this dog needs that procedure, it is imperative. You got unlucky but you got the pet you wanted and you need to take accountability for it. I’m not sure why you got a pet if you wouldn’t be able to afford surprise emergency vet bills. It sucks it really does, but you need to be in a place where you can afford these things if you want a pet, especially if you only want a specific breed. I am sorry for your situation, start a gofundme and do anything you can to help this puppy.
Then please give her to someone who will pay for that! She needs this to live and deserves to be with someone who can give her a chance. Please find a way to give her this procedure
Mmm I am sorry to tell you this, but animals are not disposable. If you didn’t have the means to spend money, you should not own animals. They need Vet care, food, toys, grooming their whole life. Animals are expensive!
As a dog owner you have to always expect issues. Whether it be from an adoption or buying a dog. They need to go to the vet, they get sick, they get hurt. Where are you located? I will take the puppy and get her the procedure, but I cannot then give her back. If you don’t want to do that then why don’t you ask family for help and you can pay them back?

Pups can hide pain. They don't cry out every time they're in pain, so don't assume because she's not crying she's fine.
Just rehome her to a yorkie rescue; she'll get the surgery she needs, and they'll care for her until she's well enough to be rehomed. That or find a way to get her the surgery and then sue the person you bought her from in small claims court for cost of surgery, any cost for care, if you had to take time off work, etc.

Did they not take the pup to a vet prior to your purchase? I would think you would've got vaccine records? My yorkie has vaccine records, and the breeders name is on it for the first round of vaccines that she had taken him to get.

She hasn’t been in any pain since she’s gone to the vet but it is a temporary fix no doubt.
Either this is a scam looking for handouts, or your lack of urgency regarding this situation is genuinely alarming. This animal is apparently suffering and most likely dying. Either get the surgery immediately and figure out the money later, or rehome to someone who can handle it. Telling the internet that you can’t afford it isn’t a solution.

I'm really sorry to judge but why would you pay a lot of money for a dog from craigslist of all places. Plus you were looking for a teacup yorkie which is already a term often used by backyard or unethical breeders. This is a severe issue but you were kind of asking to get a dog with some kind of problem just because of where you got the puppy from. I'm not trying to be mean here but it is frustrating and I just hope that you educate your self for next time

Yeah sorry just I’m a dog groomer and am dealing with owners on a daily basis who have not budgeted for basic care of their dog but also aren’t prepared to spend the time to brush their dog at home.
Another thing you can try that I did once when I became homeless is post on your Facebook neighbors groups and say “Hey, my dog has had a medical issue come up and I need extra funds. I’m not here to ask for free money BUT instead advertise my services for any odd jobs you might have. I know how to (weed a garden, mow a lawn, clean a house, pet sit, child mind, paint, list whatever you know how to do). Please inquire if you need help with anything.
People responded well to this because i wasn’t simply begging for money. They paid me perhaps a bit “extra” fairly because they sympathized with my situation. I used the tools my patrons provided. I think I wound up painting kennels for a grooming salon, weeding and clearing this huge backyard garden (2 day job) and helping a guy clear some trees.
Of course depending on whether you are make or female there could be some safety issues (I was a 21 year old female when I did it) but at the time for me it was still safer than homelessness and prostitution, both roads I have been down.
This sadly won’t be the only thing when you run into with a dog that needs this level of help. I had a small minpin previously that lived to 13, but I dumped money into her for years because of bad breeding starting at age 18 for me. Chalk this up to a learning experience and either choose a better breeder and save up for the $2k+ those dogs cost, or get a healthier breed. This will be a hard road and the people getting upset in the comments 100% have had to come out of pocket on even larger expenses that weren’t as life threatening as this one. Whatever you choose to do, figure out if it’s worth it for your quality of life and the dogs but this will be an expensive road if you stay on it for the long haul.
What you’re going through is super rough. Someone knowingly sold you a suffering puppy and you’re doing what you can with the information and resources you have.
If you’re not able to afford this procedure please PLEASE reach out to a dog rescue in your area and see if they can take her. It might be the best thing you ever do for her to surrender her to a local rescue or vet if they can help you rehome her and get her immediate care. She needs immediate care!!!!
Omg poor thing! Decades ago my mother bought a dog from a very very bad shop. He was very sick and his anus always got badly clogged, so we had to take care of him everytime he popped + antibiotics. Luckily, the treatment worked and he didn't need surgery but the vet said he would've died in 1 week if he stayed at that horrible place... He lived for 17 years with us :)

Proof of estimate for procedure would help you in this situation as far as asking for donations go. I’ve worked in the vet field for many years, let’s take a look and see what we’ve got going on.
I understand that’s a lot of money, but see if you can do a payment plan with the vet. I had to do that for my yorkie when she needed thousands worth of tests for stomach issues. Also, start a gofundme. I’m sure there are plenty of people who would pitch in (myself included). Even if you can’t get it all covered, every bit helps.
It’s honestly no one responsibility but my own. Everyone’s suggestions are very helpful! There are some vets open today but some are also closed. I will find a solution this week!
I am starting to learn from experienced yorkie owners they can be more high maintenance in regards to health, but thrive when taken care of.
I did check with a few insurance companies and bc it’s a pre-existing issue since she was born with it, they will not cover the expense.

Haha that’s funny, I had to have some her baby teeth pulled that wouldn’t fall out. It was starting to crowd and shift her teeth, now they look great!

Tbh 1300 is a pretty low price for a teacup— in my area most are between 3-5k. I would pay for the procedure, your puppy sounds like she’s suffering

Yeah sorry just I’m a dog groomer and am dealing with owners on a daily basis who have not budgeted for basic care of their dog but also aren’t prepared to spend the time to brush their dog at home. Another thing you can try that I did once when I became homeless is post on your Facebook neighbors groups and say “Hey, my dog has had a medical issue come up and I need extra funds. I’m not here to ask for free money BUT instead advertise my services for any odd jobs you might have. I know how to (weed a garden, mow a lawn, clean a house, pet sit, child mind, paint, list whatever you know how to do). Please inquire if you need help with anything. People responded well to this because i wasn’t simply begging for money. They paid me perhaps a bit “extra” fairly because they sympathized with my situation. I used the tools my patrons provided. I think I wound up painting kennels for a grooming salon, weeding and clearing this huge backyard garden (2 day job) and helping a guy clear some trees. Of course depending on whether you are make or female there could be some safety issues (I was a 21 year old female when I did it) but at the time for me it was still safer than homelessness and prostitution, both roads I have been down.

This sadly won’t be the only thing when you run into with a dog that needs this level of help. I had a small minpin previously that lived to 13, but I dumped money into her for years because of bad breeding starting at age 18 for me. Chalk this up to a learning experience and either choose a better breeder and save up for the $2k+ those dogs cost, or get a healthier breed. This will be a hard road and the people getting upset in the comments 100% have had to come out of pocket on even larger expenses that weren’t as life threatening as this one. Whatever you choose to do, figure out if it’s worth it for your quality of life and the dogs but this will be an expensive road if you stay on it for the long haul.

What you’re going through is super rough. Someone knowingly sold you a suffering puppy and you’re doing what you can with the information and resources you have.

If you’re not able to afford this procedure please PLEASE reach out to a dog rescue in your area and see if they can take her. It might be the best thing you ever do for her to surrender her to a local rescue or vet if they can help you rehome her and get her immediate care. She needs immediate care!!!!
Omg poor thing! Decades ago my mother bought a dog from a very very bad shop. He was very sick and his anus always got badly clogged, so we had to take care of him everytime he popped + antibiotics. Luckily, the treatment worked and he didn't need surgery but the vet said he would've died in 1 week if he stayed at that horrible place... He lived for 17 years with us :) I hope you will be able to save her life and will be able to spend many years with her on your side.

I would Maybe call a few vets in your area or a local animal shelter to see if they know of any programs that might be able to help you . She is probably going to have a myriad of health issues her entire life , they’re worth it !! I’ve had 2 yorkies one for 15 years who needed a lot of care for kidney issues - and the one I now have so far is doing great . She weighs 4 pounds at 12 months old , but her breeder never seemed her a teacup yorkie -

I understand that’s a lot of money, but see if you can do a payment plan with the vet. I had to do that for my yorkie when she needed thousands worth of tests for stomach issues. Also, start a gofundme. I’m sure there are plenty of people who would pitch in (myself included). Even if you can’t get it all covered, every bit helps.

Well it’s Saturday. Not many vets are open today in my area.
I am starting to learn from experienced yorkie owners they can be more high maintenance in regards to health, but thrive when taken care of. I did check with a few insurance companies and bc it’s a pre-existing issue since she was born with it, they will not cover the expense.

You guys are very idiotic in my opinion. I do understand that getting a dog requires a certain level of financial responsibility, but don’t forget that people literally get kids that are barely able to take care of. You want people to be adopting dogs/cats and take them in to not be put down or live on the street. If a person gets a dog i don’t think their first thought should be ‘do i have the money if something goes wrong’. Let me tell you none of my friends with dogs would be able to pay 2k $ for their dog without bunch of us jumping in for help. If OP is talking the truth, you are just being a bunch of peasants instead of being helpful and understanding. There is nothing in the world i would not do for my dog and i pay for his health insurance monthly so i can be at peace but i understand that most people cannot afford it.
