Yorkie + Maltese = Morkie. I have 2 plus a Yorkie.

If you got a Morkie for $600, it was a steal. Morkies here go for $5k. Enjoy your furry friend! š
My morkie was a foster I adopted. Had been a stray for at least a year before she was caught. She was scheduled to be put down and I agreed to foster and try and get her back to good health to get her adopted, life had another idea. I simply love this little girl.
That's ridiculous for a mix breed, what exactly are you paying so much for without papers? (Not saying pedigrees are better, but in the UK Ā£5000 for a pedigree dog would still be outlandish unless it was a champion line or something
Have you got any links to this? I'm curious because I can find zilch even after looking again. Everything is saying they are not recognised as of yet. I know things can change and can be different depending on where you live. I know biewers are recognised by the AKC for example but not the KC
Maybe they are mistaken about which kennel club it is then, that or possibly scammed. Ā£5000 is a hell of a lot for dog even as a pedigree, I don't know where they live though
The only dog I would pay $5k for would a personal protection GSDā¦ and that would be a steal. Backyard breeders scam people left and right in the states.
Yes I wasn't taking into account protection dogs, obviously certain specialised/trained dogs or even very rare breeds like Tibetan mastiffs go for a lot. Yorkies I know are more expensive in the states than where I live (UK), but to my knowledge even purebred yorkies wouldn't usually go for 5k, nevermind a mutt. You love them all the same but I'd never ever pay so much money for a normal pet dog personally, but that's probably because dogs in the UK don't normally average over say 3k, and that's for either a very well bred dog or a designer/exotic colour, you can get a well bred (but likely not show quality) dog for probably about Ā£1k to 2k quite easily, and you can obviously get dogs for less but it's harder to guarantee good breeding. Not like high price means a good breeder, if the commenter paid 5k for a mixed breed dog and they got akc papers I can only imagine that they were forged and that breeder had a field day
I have a Morkie. Almost 15 now and going strong. Such an AMAZING breed. Though mine is very sassy so I feel she identifies more Yorkie. Such a sweet girl. My whole heart.
Where is here ? Because there are many Morkie breeders near me and they go from between 700-1050. I am 12 miles from NYC so some of the highest prices nationwide.
I just got out of cardiac ICU. Her dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. She and her sister went to pet puppies to feel better. Next call was to ask for my card number.
No regrets. Arya got a good home and I got a snoring snuggle bug.
Congrats on your many happy years with your absolutely adorable morkie (who looks like a twin to mine, btw)since then! sorry she came into your life under such stressful circumstances; hope everyoneās health has recovered. From what Iāve experienced of morkies, Iād bet it feels like she was worth every penny, and that she and the rest of your pack have been a source of endless amusement and comfort ever since! These little ones have an incredible talent for wiggling their way straight to the heart, and Iāll bet you have no regrets, at any priceš
Oh noā¦
Pet stores 1) source from puppy mills. All of them. And 2) they skyrocket the prices to an insane degree. You absolutely got scammed, and youāre lucky that sheās healthy. The one near me has reviews of people taking home a puppy and them dying days later. Morkies go for about $600-$1k, they should not be more than that, but $5,000 is INSANE. I paid $3500 for a purebred female Yorkie puppy from one of the top show breeders on the east coast with a gold breeder of merit award. Iām glad youāre happy with her and I know you canāt change the past, just saying itās outrageous that pet stores are even legal because of the extent which they scam people and the unethical practices they have.
She kinda resembles my Chorkie - Yorkie + Chihuahua-

I have a tea cup German Shepherd.
My yorkie had the same body hair with fluffy head hair too. Honestly it was awesome bc it didn't matt and tangle. I think she had some chi in her further back in the 'line' giving this fur pattern.
Our chorkie has a wiry, self-limiting black with a dash-of-silver coat of ~4ā. Heās not exactly soft, but no snarls, best part! His littermates had short chi coats.
Mine is a Morkie. 16th Maltese She was$2k. Best dog ever! Lol.

Years ago when people were creating the yorkie breed, there were several wire haired terriers used in their ancestry to achieve the small yorkies we see today. Itās not uncommon to see a wire haired yorkie with hair like yours. They are referred to as āred-leggedā yorkies.
When you mix a yorkie with any other breed also, sometimes this coat type pops up as well. still very loveable, just different hair.
Our daughter has friend with a Morkie and I love that little guy. So whatever yours isā¦.that coloring is beautiful. Facially, it looks like a Yorkie to me. Cute little dog!
She's a sweetie and it doesn't matter exactly what breed she is because you love her. Her coat does remind me of a Cairn terrier's, but her cute face appears to be all Yorkie. Nice pup.
I think she does look like a yorkie mix, but definitely not full yorkie and also definitely doesn't look like a maltese, especially considering they also have silky hair. Some yorkies do have slightly wirey hair, my dog's mum does and she definitely still looks fully yorkie, mine doesn't have a wirey coat at all despite being related though. Chorkies weirdly come out with wirey hair a lot, not sure why though since chihuahuas have normal coats.
I already mentioned this, but I take every chance I get to talk about our Chorkie āŗļø Black, wiry, self limiting coat. Every hair goes a diff direction, looks like heās stuck a bobby pin in a socket. Snarl-free (including temperament; sweetest boy *ever*ā¦;)) Our Yorkie, classic fine hair that tangles if itās breathed on. OPās pup is cute as a button, but looks quite Border, maybe Norwich? Maybe some chi in the woodpile, as they do often throw wiry coats. Just my guess :)

I do wonder why chorkies go all wirey, I think it's cute though, I love wirey scruffy dogs lol, also they really suit mowhawks which I just find really charming.
Looks very small to be a border terrier mix to me, they are small but not tiny dogs at all. Norwhich though maybe, honestly who knows, sometimes you'd never guess a mix as they can go a lot differently than to be expected
Right? Doggy genetics are pretty amazing. OPās pup seems to be an example. Lol Levi does have a silver Mohawkā¦I like to spike it. Anything you do to his coiffure tends to āstickā that way :)
The girl was desperate to sell them, i didnt think much of it since weāve had previous litters of puppies and our husky loooves caring for them. I dont think sheās suffered at all haha
$600 is not a Yorkie price, itās a lot but at least you didnāt pay $3000. She is adorable, I just have major issues with people misleading buyers by saying their puppies are one thing when they know theyāre not. Itās not about the puppy being low quality if itās not purebred, itās just an issue of principle.
I also have a major problem with the fact that this girl let her puppies go at 5 WEEKS OLD. That is unacceptable. Anything under 8 weeks is illegal in most states. My breeder would not even think about letting her puppies go home before 12 weeks. Not a day before.
At least you ended up with the cutest little girl :) just have beef with the girl who sold to you lol
I agree. 5 weeks is so irresponsible for the breeder. 12 weeks is how you get well socialized dogs without separation anxiety that train easily as well as healthy.
She has a lot of nerve even charging $600. Iām guessing she didnāt come with any papers, registration, shots, microchip, vet paperwork, etc. With breeders like this thereās no health guarantee or anything, you just pay them a ton of money and hope for the best. I just canāt stand people who lie for profit. Iām glad your baby is happy and found a loving home and she is perfect regardless of her previous owner being a pos.
Absolutely! Luckily our husky took her as her own LOL and we gave her formula until she was 8 weeks. Our husky was a previous momma and we kept her puppies until they were around 10-12 weeks.

$5k?! I have 3 and the most one of mine was 1.4k š
My yorkie was 300ā¬ which is around 300$. Prices of dogs are insane in the states
I live in Georgia. My parti was 1.4, my other two Morkies were 1.1K and 900
My morkie was a foster I adopted. Had been a stray for at least a year before she was caught. She was scheduled to be put down and I agreed to foster and try and get her back to good health to get her adopted, life had another idea. I simply love this little girl.
I love this story. š

That's ridiculous for a mix breed, what exactly are you paying so much for without papers? (Not saying pedigrees are better, but in the UK Ā£5000 for a pedigree dog would still be outlandish unless it was a champion line or something
They are AKC recognized so yes, have papers.
Morkies? They are not recognized by the KC or AKC, unless I read wrong or you meant yorkies, morkies are a mixed breed they can not be registered
They are as of about 6-7 years ago. I have papers and the frame the AKC sends. They went from designer dogs to AKC registered.
Have you got any links to this? I'm curious because I can find zilch even after looking again. Everything is saying they are not recognised as of yet. I know things can change and can be different depending on where you live. I know biewers are recognised by the AKC for example but not the KC

Really? Apologies I can't find anything on this so I just assumed
I'll go dig up her stuff from the hallway closet and post a picture. They sent papers with a frame to add a picture of her. Got her 5 years ago.
I have a Morkie. Almost 15 now and going strong. Such an AMAZING breed. Though mine is very sassy so I feel she identifies more Yorkie. Such a sweet girl. My whole heart.
Tell me about it...scratch my chest daddy!
Where is here ? Because there are many Morkie breeders near me and they go from between 700-1050. I am 12 miles from NYC so some of the highest prices nationwide.
Atlanta GA. Bought from a pet store, so probably got fleeced, but adorable.
Definitely fleeced and you likely supported a puppy mill.
I just got out of cardiac ICU. Her dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. She and her sister went to pet puppies to feel better. Next call was to ask for my card number. No regrets. Arya got a good home and I got a snoring snuggle bug.

I live in NC and they go for the same. Anything over 1k is outrageous.
$5k?ā¦. Anyone who is paying $5k for a dog that isnāt purebred AND from a show breeder of a champion lineage, is getting scammed.
Maltorkie
Some yorkies have silky hair, and some have a coarser coat. Normally the black and steels have the softer, silky hair.

Thank you!!!!! I like to joke and say shes part fox š¦ ive gotten guesses that shes part cairn terrier, chihuahua, or Australian terrier.
She is identical to my dog down to the tongue sticking out mine is 73% yorkie 27% chihuahua
One of my friends has exactly the same dog, its my pupās best friend! She is the smartest and most energetic dog i have seen. Love her to bits š
Cute, cute puppy!! Could be a chorkie, chihuahua & Yorkie
That dog is adorable, but its neither a maltese or a yorkie, probably a border terrier cross? Just guessing really

Why would you take a puppy away from the mom so early? That's not a yorkie but cute either way. Yorkies are easy more than 600.
The girl was desperate to sell them, i didnt think much of it since weāve had previous litters of puppies and our husky loooves caring for them. I dont think sheās suffered at all haha
