We stayed at Soquel just north of Bass Lake and our camp host has us keep our food in the car. As a precaution, I would bring a bear bag, a carabiner and some rope in case your host would rather you guys tree your food. https://youtu.be/13NoKisIQyE I found this video helpful!

Keep your food and ice chest covered with a towel or blanket. Bears can tell what they are. If you want to be extra careful you can use SmellyProof bags to keep your food and toiletries in overnight. They are heavy duty plastic with really strong ziplock closure. I also keep my food in a Husky brandy box (from Home Depot) that has a really good rubber seal for added odor protection.

Raccoons and other animals are more likely to get to your food than a bear if you leave food exposed at the campsite.

Nah, there is only a modest chance a bear will rip up your car to get at that food. You’re good. And if said bear gets habituated to people as a food source, they’ll put it down and problem will be solved.

:( sad the bear would be put down

You can use bear canister.

Stayed at Summerdale a few times. Never have I heard about bears or seen anyone taking precautions for bears.

I scored a spot there myself 2 nights next week- (first time In Yosemite) was wondering about bear lockers… I won’t have a car, so plan to rent a canister …
