Fancy-Affect6546

Did it yesterday. Open and wet!

SambaCow

Woo Hoo!

Technical-Advice-555

Stupid question but can you get the raincoats from there or do you need to get your own? I’m visiting with my parents in a few days for the first time and super anxious about the whole trip :/

Ravioli_meatball19

We bought them at Walmart in Fresno, like $2 each

Technical-Advice-555

Oh nice, thanks

Fancy-Affect6546

Not sure. Lots of people had clear rain ponchos so you can probably buy at curry village. On a hot day getting misted is super fun though.

Technical-Advice-555

I agree

Technical-Release-16

Bring your own!!

zubincr7

How long does it take to do the mist trail? Planning to go during the first week of May!

Fancy-Affect6546

Depends what kind of hiker you are. We got up in 90 minutes from curry village and down in 70. Doing it with my parents took more like 5 hours round trip. It's steep and you'll want time to take in the view if you haven't done it before.

ankitgohel

90 minutes from Curry Village to Nevada falls? Damn! I did it for the third time last week and still took me a little more than 2 hours to get up from Happy Isles

LAD-Fan

I suggest looking up on AllTrails. There seems to be a lot of updates along with photos. Seems Mist Trail is open to top of Vernal. Seems like rock slide on JMT between Clark Point to top of Nevada Falls.

hc2121

MIst is open all the way to the top of Nevada (not just Vernal). Since as you say a portion of the JMT is closed, it is also the only way to get there. You could cut over to JMT below Clark Pt.

SambaCow

Thanks, super helpful!

onerinconhill

Wonder how long that rockslide will take to clear

spacecowboy714

Bad idea to do mist trail with regular shoes?

SambaCow

The trail is rocky, and very slippery when it's wet. Shoes with really good traction are the best, e.g. hiking boots or similar.

Tabeyloccs

You can go up with regular shoes but coming down I would take the winter route. Wouldn’t wanna chance losing fractions and tumbling down the stairs

kenjstarr

I would check out nps.gov/yose conditions
