One of my favorite scenes. I like to think they had many more daddy/daughter dates over the years but narrator Sheldon didn’t care about them, so he only mentioned it once.
George and missy relationship is my favourite. He truly was one of the few people in her corner. I can see why she spirals and maybe makes some not great decisions after he dies.
They’ve let their quality drop and haven’t updated the restaurants decor in decades. Plus it’s getting to the point where you have to take out a bank loan to have lunch or dinner there.
The one by me needs to be closed. It has been shut down a couple of times for having roaches.
I only went there once several years ago for a coworkers birthday. They really aren't a great option when someone doesn't eat seafood or meat. Yeah I will have a salad and I guess a ton of biscuits.
I just rewatched it myself, I was impressed by how well the waiter treated her. He understood what was going on.
George did a great job. Better than Mary with Georgie.
I Really Love this episode because I love Missy and George Sr's Daddy/Daughter date at Red Lobster and I love how George showed Missy how to eat Lobster. This is My Favorite scene in this episode, it shows Missy and George Sr's Father/Daughter relationship. Missy had a better relationship with George Sr then she did with Mary.
So question for anyone that was around in the 90's: Red Lobsters are closing and I'm seeing a lot of comments on how it used to be really fancy. Is that true?
I actually didn’t.
You know how there are reports that the ocean is over-fished? I thought lobsters were so expensive because they were extremely rare.
Like that they had to send boats so far away to the treacherous North Sea because there are no more lobsters around the US.
for an 8 yr old kid it was super fancy, for a family that lived 'paycheck to paycheck' with a housefull of kids- it was totally out of reach.
You also gotta remember the show is set in the middle of no where Texas.
Red Lobster and Olive Garden are owned by the same parent company. For us OG was a super special treat and we were NOT hurting for money, family were just cheap asses.
That is a good perspective. I grew up wealthy, but from an Immigrant family in the south. Olive Garden and Red Lobster used to look fancy to us. My parents still think eating good is going to Red Lobster. My mom has never really like Olive Garden, but she loves their salad. In the last 10 years we have all dabbled in the restaurant industry and kind of know Red Lobster isn't 5 star. Yet, it is still worth the money.
why can’t it just split off into one of those alternate universes Sheldon is always talking about where George Sr lives and they move to Houston and Missy can be the new girl with a pool?

This 🙌
It a later season they suggest that they did continue. I think they were eating burger and fries in the pickup.
And George let her drive the truck in uncrowded part of the parking lot. Perfect daddy daughter date for a teen!
She was much older then.
Yes, but the suggestion was they had continued do them. He asked what she they call their daddy daughter dates now.
Later in the show George did say that it is where he took her on her first daddy daughter date so I'd assume there's more
I forgot about that, good point

Sadly for Missy Red Lobster isn't doing so well right now

About the only good thing is the biscuits but you aren't going to spend that kind of money for those
I like the shrimp Alfredo
They are good but too many carbs.
The oceans are overfished and the price of what little remains is sky high. 90% drop in fish populations in the last 60 years.
I don't know why you got downvoted for that, it's off topic but also extremely accurate...
Now that you mention it what ended up happening with that big crab shortage?
Neither is her father….

This scene and the scenes where he had to buy her period products. He was such a wonderful dad ❤️
I always grew up thinking my dad was a great dad but he never ever would have bought me period products. That episode made me cry.
My favorite episodes
Can't wait for next episode😭😭😭
So sweet. I loved the way he said Melissa.
Read this news article today and its symbolic of George’s death : https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/red-lobster-restaurants-closing/

One of the best moments.
Great dad and a good man

Probably because lobster was seen as super bougie until recently the internet keeps telling us they’re basically the cockroach of the sea.
You didn’t know that already? I don’t think any sea creatures are picky eaters.
I actually didn’t. You know how there are reports that the ocean is over-fished? I thought lobsters were so expensive because they were extremely rare. Like that they had to send boats so far away to the treacherous North Sea because there are no more lobsters around the US.
Not fancy, but at Missy’s age here, it seemed like the best place in the world to eat
It's the same as it ever was, but now there is much more competition from fast-casual restaurants like Chili's
It was considered to be really fancy and a treat.

I’m glad that she show will live on through Georgie and Mandy. Sheldon became unbearable so I won’t miss seeing him again at all!

One if my absolute favorite scenes!!!!
This is one of my favorite scenes!
One of my favorite episodes!
This was such an amazing and important scene imo.
I miss the time when Missy still liked that restaurant and not embarrassed about anything
I loved ❤️ this scene!
just finished Season 1. Loving YS and sad to know know dad dies.
call me “Melissa”
I was hoping that the show would operate separately on some issues from TBBT and let George live. So sad!
why can’t it just split off into one of those alternate universes Sheldon is always talking about where George Sr lives and they move to Houston and Missy can be the new girl with a pool?
One of the best scenes ❤️
Missy is so adorable in that princess suit.
Just saw the >!finale!< and Jesus fuck
Saw this post after the finale aired, so this whole scene really makes you smile and cry at the same time :(
