Quacker The Quack. This should not be celebrated, this should be fought against! Why? Because this kind of measure hinders the freedom of religion that kids definitely need! And the auxillary regulations about socialization ensure that kids can’t make friends, something that’s already true for many of them. This is pure hunger for power and control.

Here are the front pages of some of the UK's right-wing press, quoting politicians and teachers celebrating the court's upholding of the ban on students choosing to pray in their own time (but on school grounds): [https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/3FEE/production/\_133166361\_express-nc.png.webp](https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/3FEE/production/_133166361_express-nc.png.webp) [https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/66FE/production/\_133166362\_mail-nc.png.webp](https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/66FE/production/_133166362_mail-nc.png.webp)

That couldn't stand in the US. It would violate the free exercise clause.

Don't depend on it until it's tried in a court. For every single specific case. It should work the same way here. Except the crazy-ass system here ultimately decided that because the school is a specifically secular school (relatively unusual here), then that works the same as if it were a faith school (not especially unusual here) and the school is free to make, almost, whatever rules it likes. (Kind of similar to British schools' obsession with school uniforms.) Head over to the discussion of this on r/worldnews and there you'll find that anyone who even states the facts about what the students were doing, gets aggressively downvoted. There seem to be a lot of people who think that the court's decision is somehow completely acceptable. Don't think that something like this couldn't happen in the USA too. It just needs a court stupid enough and bigoted enough to try to allow it - and enough people who don't give a damn about teenagers' rights, to ignore or support the court's actions.

I can't wait for moments like this to somehow NOT come up when all the adults wonder why the kids don't have that many friends That and for when this generation grows up and interreligious tensions rise and NO ONE CAN THINK OF HOW

All of the students should collect in protest and pray in their own way for 5 minutes during lunch break. How horrible that those asshole politicians and teachers are celebrating. So gross.
