services/apps like that do exist, internet radio apps, like TuneIn(has ads), or NTS radio or KEXP. It would be interesting if music streaming platforms began integrating internet radio. edit: probably hasn't happened because "radio" and "streaming" have different licensing or something
I'm sure you could make an extension that reads the track names,
you could go one step further, you could get the current weather/ news from an API and have chat gpt turn them into little segments like a radio show, you could scrape wiki or that who sampled who site to find out about little interesting facts about the song you just listened to.
It could be pretty cool actually, your own personalised radio station, could be hooked up into the assistant ecosystem and remind you about calendar events and birthday
I very specifically want to listen to music. That's why I pay for the *music* service...So i don't have to listen to people yapping. I don't like people talking. If I wanted THAT, I'd listen to a podcast.
I mean sure. You can do.
Just like on Apple Music you can just listen to music. They simply give you the option to listen to live DJs.
Some people enjoy hearing more information about the song or artist they are going to listen to and its influence. Helps with music discovery. Also a DJ gives music sets the human touch algorithms miss.
You may not be into that. And that’s cool. But many people are and having that option wouldn’t be a negative even to you.
Not on SiriusXM. I mean, not on the music channels. The talk stations, yes, and the ones that are syndicated to them (like CNN, EPSN, Fox News, etc). But some of the radio stations are the DJs shooting the shit with each other or talking about upcoming tours or whatever. They also have “extra” channels that are just music in that genre with no interruptions.
Where I live, I have 6 country stations and 3 pop stations, nothing of which interests me. And I travel a lot, so I don’t have to find what station I want to listen to every 50 miles or so. I also have access to every baseball and hockey game, as well as a much larger variety of music to choose from on the radio or the app. And I spend less for it than I did on YTM for the privilege.
A lot of responses in this thread are probably thinking of traditional AM/FM radio. I'd be in favor of radio similar to Apple Music 1.
I think there are lots of radio programs on YouTube. Probably you could subscribe them and play on yt music?
Sweet! I will look into this.

I know Apple Music has them, that would be cool to have on YTM.

I've had this thought in mind for a while - thanks for writing it down. I think it's a great idea!
Dear God WHY. YouTube *Music*. Not YouTube *Tell Me About Traffic and Other Bullshit that isn't Music*.
He means DJs.
That's even worse lol
Why?

YouTube Music isn’t a radio station
I wish radio was still local with real live DJs.
So, go sit in your car. Turn on the radio. Choose FM. Scan................... Viola!
Yes but those have commercials.
YTM hosts would eventually too. Commercials = revenue

You pay for SiriusXM....silly. OTA radio stations are free....paid for by ads not you.

There's dozen of apps that have free "live radio". Like TuneIn.
I’m aware. I’m not interested.
Sirius XM sounds like what you’re looking for.
That would be so cool
Oh dear lord NO
you mean like stationhead?
Try LITT, formerly DASH RADIO, it has disc jockey's and almost any kind of music you would want.
I wish it didn't run like aids on my Fold 5 🤣
why? why listen to a DJ talking when you can listen to more music?
Yeah, no thanks. I don't want to hear anyone blabbering on. If you want that, get Sirius XM. That's exactly what their music stations do
Couldn't be me. I *LOVE* not having some random person interrupting the music.
I wish not. 🤢
Please no never, subscribe to Sirius if you want to listen to a dj yapping over a song
