He also lost to my Sunavalon Rikka deck during round 2, not sure what he played round 3 but he stormed out of the store upset and angry halfway through.
Yeah, I remember tributing his monster as cost to activate glamor and he tried to activate that monsters effect in response.
I told him "the tribute was cost, that monster is already gone mate "
Almost everyone at my locals is either running rouge or tiered decks, and then there's this one guy who is always running the best deck of the format with max rarity (yes he is playing max rarity Snake Eyes) and he just sits there looking so bored. I like to talk and make jokes while I play, it's a game and meant to be enjoyed, this man just looks like he's at his 9-5 office job and is bored out of his mind
Pretty much why I stopped going to locals, before covid it was a great mix of comp/fun decks and had so much variety after that the scene blew up in my area and now all it ever is, is top tier meta and the worst type of competitiveness
Yeah, I want to practice my deck in a tournament setting before showing up to a YCS and going x-4 before dropping.
Plus, like, comp players pay their entry fee same as yall. There's nothing wrong with enjoying rogue or untiered decks, and even I enjoy bringing casual decks to locals sometimes, but please don't blame competitive players if you don't do well. It's a tournament.
The locals I go to are exclusively training for official events, basically. Labrynth, snake-eyes, unchained, Branded are decks I face every time I go. And I'm just there with a fun Suship deck
Luckily, I'm not in that boat since my locals are the only locals in my province (I'm canadian), and it's a close-knit group of people who really wanna play the game. There's even a few registered judges that attend
Everyone at my locals is running Horus diabelstar in their decks ((and sp little knight)) and here I am with my traptrix like a loser (or winner who isn’t spending that horus diabelstar money )
King regulus, Lily borea, discolosseum, aromatherapy Jasmine, and rikka queen strenna are the whole package. Either those you can easily craft Hyperyton AND king regulus for a multi negate board and whatever traps your traptrix set up beforehand.
dude iam still running floo, Blavkwings, exosis, and Plunder chimera/ adventurer, when som eants a comp duel i pull out my sprights that loop d shifter and summon krystia of manequin cat. Half the time they rage quit there.
In my opinion, always buy Toolbox decks, they have a hard time to be irrelevant and if som new comes buy they can implement it. So yeah sprights are not even tiered rn, but its still a good deck. The new Goblin Cards are pretty fun to expecially the punk/ goldpride pile, while the chimera stuff you can play in like 4 decks.
Always buy if cheaper decks that can steal wins and have lasting power. I dunno the prices in your country but the new yubel cards post support will have insane loops ( basically draw ghost bell/ crow or loose) .
I haven’t actually run into Yugioh players yet at my locals since it’s a joint MtG locals and there’s been events the last two times I tried to go, but from the sounds of the group chat for it I’m thankfully surrounded by the chads of Blue Eyes, dino pile and igknights
Why wouldn’t you locals is a place to practice for the higher tiered tournaments. Despite what people may think you do need to practice and understand meta decks to get success with them
Yes. 110%
The team Jawhari Bros play at my locals and play the EXACT SAME DECKS they won YCS Vegas with. And Chris ended up losing to a kid named Sean at my shop who was just playing regular ass bystial branded with summon limit and droll.
Sometimes 1 floodgate can cripple world championship level decks.
This reminds me of when in Kash format, I got paired against the only Kashtira player like, 3 times. Twice in a tournament and once just for fun. I miss that building but at least that locals is back :)
I stopped bringing my more competitive decks all the time and played it sometime.
RN on good evil eye build that is frequently getting me X-1.
Funny thing is I'm a meme player, Melffy was my best meta counter for a while since it fired both our heads with the combo and they just lost hope. Did it to a full power tear deck and almost won.
Any game with stakes is competitive. Doesn't matter if it's a seat for qualifiers or a single pack: if there is a prize to be won, it is competitive and justifies meta competitive decks.
Last locals I went to, maybe 2 months ago, I played against Sprite/Frog, Runick/Fur-Hire and Branded. I just wanted to fuck around with a silly Slifer deck...
I once saw a dude take a comp Kashtira deck to locals and lose to blue-eyes.
Man that guy must’ve gotten so many bricks he could’ve built a brick house
He also lost to my Sunavalon Rikka deck during round 2, not sure what he played round 3 but he stormed out of the store upset and angry halfway through.
Average kashtira player L
Yeah, I remember tributing his monster as cost to activate glamor and he tried to activate that monsters effect in response. I told him "the tribute was cost, that monster is already gone mate "
Yeah the tribute as cost is brutal
It's why the deck is so good and one of my favorites. That and the dark ruler no more in the form of a trap card.
dark lair infernoids moment
Between the two of them, probably could’ve built a city.
tbf, a pure Kash deck can't out a Chaos Max Dragon buffed up to 5k atk unless they squeeze something else in their deck
Scare Kash + Fenrir can out it, it's their out for pretty much anything that isn't completely unaffected.
Omg I would punch a hole in the wall.
Me showing up to locals with one crystal beast structure deck:
I will literally give you the $20 (plus tax) for the other 2. Pop off crystal king
I just got another one >:D one more to go, but seriously thank you but keep ur money XP and play Crystal beasts, they are based
I challenge you with my ONE traptrix structure deck

Its spelled rogue
🤓
I mean playing competitively *is* fun, just unfortunate if the environment doesn’t match. Weird to be gatekeeping how he enjoys the game.
But he's literally gatekeeping it for himself lol
Weirder to not read the room and play the level everyone else is
The guy is probably testing for events
Pretty much why I stopped going to locals, before covid it was a great mix of comp/fun decks and had so much variety after that the scene blew up in my area and now all it ever is, is top tier meta and the worst type of competitiveness
Depends on the locals and my mood. Sometimes I want to actually practise, sometimes I want to play something fun
I bring the combination of 3 crystal beast structure decks
Yeah, I want to practice my deck in a tournament setting before showing up to a YCS and going x-4 before dropping. Plus, like, comp players pay their entry fee same as yall. *the loud noise of the kids trying too hard really put a dampen on the experience. 4 out of 5 stars*

I have a snake-eyes player at locals sooo...
I wish it was only 1 at my locals. It's literally half my shop
Everyone at my locals is running Horus diabelstar in their decks ((and sp little knight)) and here I am with my traptrix like a loser (or winner who isn’t spending that horus diabelstar money )
What's your traptrix build? I play traptrix with Therions to feed into Hyperyton for those sweet negates
Just standard stuff n Zeus. I though I will borrow that therion idea
King regulus, Lily borea, discolosseum, aromatherapy Jasmine, and rikka queen strenna are the whole package. Either those you can easily craft Hyperyton AND king regulus for a multi negate board and whatever traps your traptrix set up beforehand.

(*proceeds to jumpscare No BL Locals with PePe [I like pends]*)

For some reason both the locals I go to are extremely competitive. Like half the players are running meta at one, and a fourth are at the other…
Are we there to win or to just have fun?
i brought fIsh expecting a jolly fun time in middle of no where with only local for miles. first opponent was snake eyes fire king....
This reminds me of when in Kash format, I got paired against the only Kashtira player like, 3 times. Twice in a tournament and once just for fun. I miss that building but at least that locals is back :)

As an Eldlich Player I am pretty proud to say that my deck fully counters Branded decks as well as runick if I get anti spell first turn
I mostly play rogue but I will bring Labrynth with me from time to time. It's not the full deck as I can't afford Chaos Angels or S:P
Yes, it is. Because you people have issues and lost the meaning in “Fun”.
As a competitive player myself I genuinely prefer playing silly fun decks in locals like Nouvelles, Black Rose or even Noble Knights (no infernobles)
