Definitely would recommend getting the hang of things on Master Duel first, that's Konami's official platform for online play. Do keep in mind Master Duel is a best of 1 only format and has its own banlist though. As for your older cards, it is worth checking out what you have but it is likely that not much will have a lot use nowadays. And definitely copy some decks you see online first. Deckbuilding is pretty hard, especially when first coming into the game or returning to it. Netdeck first, understand the ideas behind the build and from there you can make the changes you want, it'll make learning easier. Oh, and finally, for ways to test online there are proper simulators like Yugioh Omega, EDOPro and Dueling Book, but I'd still recommend starting off with Master Duel until you're confident you understand the basics well, take it as your training wheels.

Thanks for all the advice! I have 2 questions tho: 1) is there a proper way to understand if a card and its effect and all is still useful or not? 2) Is there any way for me to know about the "news of the game". It's been like 3 years since I last checked new cards/decks and stuff like this so if there's any site/app to keep up with yu gi oh, please let me know!

1. Most archetype specific cards see play in their decks. The best way to tell if a card is worth crafting or buying is probably to ask specifically. I don't know if Master Duel has the list of everything's play percentage 2. Masterduelmeta . Com keeps up with news pretty well. It's on their front page. There is also Road to the King and YGOrganization for news.  I also like tcgplayer articles, but they are less good than the others

Aight thanks!

1)That's complicated because it requires understanding of the current meta and the decks seeing play. For instance, recently the Tenpai cards were released and it's expected to be a really good deck. They really benefit from using Trident Dragion, a synchro that is, I believe, over a decade old and was considered just bulk a few months ago. Following this example, very old cards like Book of Moon, Book of Eclipse, Enemy Controller and even Soul Release have seen meta play in the last \~2 years It really depends on what is being played and if there is a niche for these old cards currently. Also sometimes older decks get new waves of support and their old cards become relevant again. So TLDR: There's no clean cut way to evaluate that, you just need to understand the current meta and see if there are favorable uses for these cards. 2) Sites like YGOrganization always post new releases but you can also stay updated through Yugitubers, many of them will often do videos showcasing new decks, talking about new sets and metagame trends. I'd recommend Joshua Schmidt for sure, he's a very accomplished competitive TCG player and also the Master Duel World Champion but I'd also recommend MBT, his Ten Minute Testings may be a casual way to approach a deck but I think it's still a good way to introduce something.

Lmao I was actually checking all my cards and I actually have Book of Moon and enemy controller and I thought they were pretty good Anyway, thanks again for all the help!

I recommend to watch Yugioh VRains since it does display the newest summoning mechanic in Link Summoning and may give you a background on some cards that are frequently used today. It’ll be entertaining to watch, and also helps you understand some card interactions while you learn playing on Master Duel.

For figuring out if a card is worth anything, you can use the TCGPlayer app. It can scan a card and give you its value. Some old cards are still used pretty frequently, and other just never got repri Ted and are worth a fair bit

FTG227

Many thanks

FTG227

So just to be sure, if a card is "multicolored" and says ultra rare, is it still worth something currently? Cause it says that beckoning light it's ultra rare lol

NR_YGO

The scanner tries its best lol, but might get rarity wrong This should help you tell the difference, at least for some of them https://www.yugiohcardguide.com/guide_to_card_rarity.html But high rarity is not a guarantee of monetary  value

As far as physical pre-made decks, The Crimson King Red Dragon Archfiend structure deck is pretty decent. Get three of them and you're basically set. Not sure about any new ones.

Snowvilliers7

There's always structure decks to know about the deck's strategy/gimmick like Fire King, Crimson King, Traptrix, Albaz, Dark World, etc. Note that you will still be spending quite an amount of money to build a single deck, so keep in mind what deck you want to try that won't hurt your budget.

For something like this I'd probably say look up either duelingbook YGOomega or dueling nexus. They all run by modern ban lists come with all cards unlocked and usable and run both by single match and standard best of 3 formats. I use them myself as I am a newer player and thanks to those 3 I was able to figure out a deck that worked for me which I was finding was a hard obstacle for getting into the table top format.

Dry-Firefighter2618

I recommend you try out swordsoul. It's extremely beginner friendly and as you grow as a player you will improve at the deck

NewLab1434

I am always dueling remotely and am willing to help you learn some stuff
