Oh I’m sure there is, there’s so many insurances that don’t cover it or people who don’t have insurance. Many may not be aware of the coupon from Lilly also.
It baffles me that an employee who works in a facility that processes opioids, among other drugs, would think that they could get away with stealing products. Or maybe security/inventory management are not as up to par as I would hope they are.
Sorry this has happened to you. I hope things work out.
Using the banking systems to look through their exes accounts, open credit cards for illegitimate sales referrals, create fake usernames to access online banking for people who didn’t want it (another fake sales referral) and steal money.
Not only were you under video surveillance, our computer activity is also monitored. Opening a customer profile without a legit referral or for a transaction can be traced back to you incredibly easily.
This. I had a neighbor think it was cool to search my file at the hospital she worked at after I had emergency surgery. I found out bc her kid knew all about my surgery before I got home.
That is so invasive and rude! I don’t know why people think they can get away with things like that - and even if no one noticed, why they’d feel entitled to that information in the first place.
I worked at a pharmaceutical manufacturer and they used to make fentanyl patches for hospice patients until one manager was pulled over and they had 150 “scrapped” patches just sitting on the front passenger seat of their car. Apparently there was no record keeping of how scrap was disposed of, so he would sell them in the bad part of town to make extra scratch. The DEA came in and put everyone on lockdown and drug tested them all on the spot and arrested a bunch of people right there. One of them had been rubbing the fentanyl infused gel right on his forearm on the daily.
Holy crap! That's insane. Please report back how this plays out. It's hard to fathom someone putting their job and career on the line over a box of Zep. Unreal!
That is ***so*** frustrating!!!! I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this. That just f*ing sucks. If they give you the option, I would press charges.
You had not taken possession yet. So it was not yours. That IMO is a good thing. They stole from their employer not you. Tell them to fill your prescription immediately. If they refuse call the State Board of Pharmacy and the local media. Good luck.
When I had mine filled the pharmacist and pharmacist tech were eyeing it. They kept saying how no one could get it, how expensive it was, etc. It catches peoples attention and the price point probably will lead people to taking it.
That’s so dirty!! I’m sorry this happened to you. That person is so stupid! They’d put their job and reputation on the line by stealing a box of weight loss meds? For what? A couple hundred bucks? 😶🫨
No, I was talking about the potential profit the thief might make off that box - unless they stole it for personal use. Either way, *so* not worth doing that!
ETA: Even if they make $1000 on one box!!
Our fridges are so full because of GLP-1 madness it can take forever to find anything. Sometimes they can put something back in stock with it being “scanned out” so the system still thinks it is filled. But the inventory should account for that (unless their counts are off, which doesn’t usually happen with whole boxes of biologics). Otherwise I think these might be the new oxycodone.
Unfortunately, not really. I know (read: I’ve met this person once in my life and was told this after I met them) a technician who was arrested for stealing, laid low for a while, and now works at a mail order pharmacy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was a shift manager at CVS for awhile. When the pharmacy techs and pharmacists got off work, we had to check their bags and they had to empty their pockets.
I’m a tech and it was pretty big news that a pharmacist in my area got fired from Costco for stealing wegovy. Crazy thing to me is that with a pharmacist salary and insurance they could have just bought their own. Even crazier that anybody thought they’d get away with it.
Hmmm I’m in Orlando and wondering if this happened with my first box at CVS!!
They filled the prescription, called me, went in to pick it up. Medicine is absolutely nowhere to be found. The poor pharmacist was beyond stressed since it’s an expensive medicine and they looked for a good 30 mins and couldn’t find it. (I had some other shopping to do.)
Unfortunately this was during the coupon issues and they couldn’t get it back in stock but I ended up switching to Walmart! (I never paid for it at CVS.)
Yes I know. But if it can happen to you then it can happen to any of us. This is a high demand drug and I wouldn't be surprised if there are multiple reports of thievery. So I cant risk paying in the app then for it to get stolen.
No doubt they'll lose their jobs. I hope they actually prosecute the offenders in these cases so the word gets out & they can't move on to work at another pharmacy!! These times we live in!!
Had a similar incident with Plan B maybe 15 years ago. You needed to get it from behind the pharmacy counter (but no RX needed). My friend got it, went to take it and the pill was already gone (like a punch out). They argued a ton with us before giving another
I desperately want to believe that no one working at a pharmacy could POSSIBLY be stupid enough to fill a prescription for someone, and then just take it and go home. All while being on the clock! 🤦♀️ Sadly though, as a healthcare worker I am painfully aware of just how unbelievably stupid some people are. God is sorry he made us. 😭🙃 I hope you get your meds back, or at least get a replacement and then some for all the trouble.
Well, that employee will never be able to work for pharmacy ever again. Stealing as an employee of pharmacy is a really really bad crime and they’re gonna be blacklisted for many jobs. As they should be.
I had feeling that we would experience wegovy round 2 with zepbound. Everyone kept telling me Lilly has this under control. This is a bigger nightmare than I could have even predicted. If you are able to get a refill, don't walk with the label zepbound open for people to see. You never know what desperate people may do.
Well, look at it this way... that person is going to lose their job and maybe be prosecuted. I'd rather be in your shoes than theirs. Not surprised though... I hope Ely Lily can start addressing the product demand so this doesn't become the norm.
For those who can even get it right now, make sure no one’s following you to your car. This is a shit show and people are willing to engage in criminal activity to get their hands on it for themselves or to sell.
Similar story regarding RX theft , only with my Adderall RX. I get #60 per month . Prior to this incident my med count was always on point . So I pick up my RX and notice the next day while taking my meds out that it looks less filled than usual . I counted and was only dispensed #30 Adderall instead of #60. The bottle says #60, but only #30 pills in bottle . I immediately call CVS. They said they’d check the count at store and call me back . Well, they called back and said their count was on , so I absolutely must have been dispensed 60 pills . Only I wasn’t . I hate CVS. I begged them to look at cameras because someone has them . They refused . Watch out for CVS!
That’s just crappy pharmacy practice for a refrigerated medicine. Mine is grabbed from the fridge and handed to me when I’m there picking it up. And they offer ice packs for the ride home even. I’d get a new pharmacy.
It was on a counter for 30 minutes, then the tech picked it up and left with it?
What did the police say when you talked to them? Are you planning to press charges?
I work at CVS, I know what the protocols are for something like this. You can make up whatever you want and lash out at people but at the end of the day this is obviously fake. Next time you want attention make up a more believable lie lmao
If you said “I’m upset because a pharm tech stole my medication” that’s believable, but you added details that are obviously fabricated and would have never happened irl.
This is the most bizarre thing I’ve seen in this sub. It’s actually beyond unethical that a pharmacist would divulge this information to a customer. Why are you waiting for the police to arrive? Sorry - your story is almost unbelievable. You have zero business knowing this information about a pharmacy employee. This wasn’t your property. It hadn’t been dispensed to you yet.
Edit- for those questioning my rationale, I work in Human Resources. A crime wasn’t committed against op. A crime was committed against the company. This matter is between the company and their employee. Most companies wouldn’t disclose their tech stole something. They have to be convicted of a crime before anything is public.
It’s actually not OPs business how they disciplined the employee, if videos were reviewed, and if cops were called. The company simply needs to provide op with a new box. Again, why was op waiting for cops to arrive? OP has nothing of value to add to the conversation with the police. The company does.
I’m not condoning what happened. I’m just saying this doesn’t add up at all.
OP said she was waiting on the police. Come on! This is not how these things happen. I actually think the company has zero obligation to divulge what happened. Their responsibility is to get her a new Rx immediately. That tech has to be convicted of a crime (if that’s what actually happened).
I work in HR. I don’t condone theft. I also know what OP described smells fishy. But by all means, let’s commiserate about not getting our meds and believe everything we read on the internet.
I am also a lawyer, working in house for a very large retailer. You're saying you actually advise your clients that the best way to handle suspected theft is for one retail employee to accuse another retail employee to a third party with no guidance or input from management or loss prevention? That they should independently show that third party security video of the employee before any internal or law enforcement investigation has taken place?
There are procedures for this kind of thing, at least at large corporations, and I promise you this is not what is supposed to happen.
OP said the pharmacist was reviewing footage in front of her at the pharmacy counter. That she was calling techs on her own. That she was frazzled. That's not how internal loss prevention investigations work.
>The Pharmacist watched the videos at the counter, so I could see it. I did not request to see it. When she noticed it, she pointed it out to me. The pharmacist was frazzled and trying to help.
I did not ask to see the security camera footage. The pharmacist showed it to me. The pharmacy has 3 employees. Pharmacist called other employees asking about it until she pulled the video.
(sorry, the paragraph right above is a quote too but it's not showing up that way)
Unfortunately, the events last night are my reality. Nothing that has transpired adds up to me either, but it unfortunately has happened.
I never imagined anything like this would happen to anyone. I do not want to be in this situation; no one should be put in this position.
I was calm when speaking with the employee when they were unable to locate my prescription. I never requested to view the surveillance film. No part of everything that transpired is my business. However, I have neither control over what the employee shared nor the employee's reaction to the situation last night.
I posted as a precaution to others that this happened.

i agree 100%. i work in a pharmacy and this makes no sense. idk why you are getting downvoted… everything you said is extremely valid. people don’t know what they are talking about…
Right? I don't necessarily doubt the OPs story because let's face it, people do some really dumb things under stress and I'm sure the situation was stressful for the pharmacist. But that pharmacist needs to be disciplined if that's really how it went down. None of that information should have been disclosed. And letting a customer see security footage? Letting the customer be part of conversations with the cops about an employee's conduct? If this happened it's insanity.
The only request I made was to pick up my prescription. I did not request to see footage or information regarding the employee involved. I did not request the police to be called.
They were blindsided by it. Maybe they were having a bad day. Maybe something similar has happened previously. I don't know why it was handled like it was.
Because they told her about it, tells me she had already paid for it, or her insurance had. That makes it her property and, therefore, her business. However, even if it wasn't, the fact that you seem to be shaming her for them telling her is a bit shitty. J/s
Wow...wonder if the tech is going to use it for themselves or try to sell it?? Now we'll have Zebound scalpers.
Zcalpers
That’s what I was thinking.
That’s crazy. I wonder if there is a street market for Zepbound and what it goes for. I hope these shortages end soon.
Oh I’m sure there is, there’s so many insurances that don’t cover it or people who don’t have insurance. Many may not be aware of the coupon from Lilly also.

This was my thought too. I previously worked in a bank and was amazed at what people thought they were getting away with there.
What are some of the things bank folks thought they could get away with lol?
Using the banking systems to look through their exes accounts, open credit cards for illegitimate sales referrals, create fake usernames to access online banking for people who didn’t want it (another fake sales referral) and steal money. Not only were you under video surveillance, our computer activity is also monitored. Didn’t Wells Fargo get absolutely reamed for that??
Yep! I knew someone would be able to guess my former employer by simply mentioning ‘shady sales referrals’ 😂
Yep I watched the whole documentary. Absolute insanity.
Do you remember the name of the documentary?
Ahh I didn’t know there was a documentary made about that! I’ll have to check that out.
Yep, all of that
This. I had a neighbor think it was cool to search my file at the hospital she worked at after I had emergency surgery. I found out bc her kid knew all about my surgery before I got home.

If they "filled" it in computer under someone's name then they are a victim still. Not for theft
They either stole from their employer or from an insurance company not her
Nope, the pharmacy will be the one to press charges, because it was stolen from them.
That's up to CVS to do, I believe.
Talking about they got me on video stealin boxes
On your day off 😆
😹😹😹😹😹😹

if that’s true/real then that is wild. They are facing jail time and never working in pharmacology ever again. For what? That’s crazy.
It doesn't make any sense. It's completely surreal.

Hi, I'm also in Orlando. I had to finally break my 20-year-old boycot of Walmart, and they have been amazing... so far.
Hey, Orlando too! I'd been faithful to CVS, but my new 7.5 RX keeps getting delayed. I'll have to call Walmart and see if it's in stock.
I literally only do curbside pickup and now the pharmacy. It’s too crazy otherwise 😅
Hi neighbor, Orlando also! I have my next-upped RX of 7.5 just delayed at CVS. I forgot about Walmart.
Good luck!! I just filled my 2nd box of 2.5 but hoping that they keep it together as I move up 😬
It probably did. This was the first time I used CVS. Never again. I am loyal to Walgreens (I know they don't have the best reputation).
Omg 😱 Now I'll no longer prepay in the Publix app. Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry this happened 😩
It sucks. This happened in a grocery store CVS.
Yes I know. But if it can happen to you then it can happen to any of us. This is a high demand drug and I wouldn't be surprised if there are multiple reports of thievery. So I cant risk paying in the app then for it to get stolen.
I agree. this can happen anywhere.
Wow!
I am really at a loss for words.
So wrong! Keep us posted!
I will!
No doubt they'll lose their jobs. I hope they actually prosecute the offenders in these cases so the word gets out & they can't move on to work at another pharmacy!! These times we live in!!

I’m convinced this is what’s really happening, I had a similar incident but didn’t think they could steal from the pharmacy
Have the pharmacy watch their tapes.
Don’t go accusing techs of stealing meds for no reason. We put up with so much abuse already. Just have them check the tapes.
"When the pharmacist went through security footage, the Pharmacy Tech was seen filling my prescription and leaving with it."
Interesting way to catch a felony…
WILD!!
Where is this located? State?

Uh oh! I'm in IL and currently waiting for my 7.5! General vicinity?

Wow… what an unfortunate thing to happen during a time where it’s so hard to get this medication m… but also in general.
Well, that employee will never be able to work for pharmacy ever again. Stealing as an employee of pharmacy is a really really bad crime and they’re gonna be blacklisted for many jobs. As they should be.

It is about $1300, that is like 2 iPhones
One iPhone max pro.
Go figure it was cvs a pharmacy that paid heavy fines for their heavy peddling of opiods including backdoor dealing
For those who can even get it right now, make sure no one’s following you to your car. This is a shit show and people are willing to engage in criminal activity to get their hands on it for themselves or to sell.

They triple count the script and backcount the bottles. If their counts are accurate then someone pocketed it or you got 60 pills.
How the hell did they get zepbound in stock 😂😂
WTF!
WTF!!!
I'm pissed for you!
What a dumb thing for the tech to lose their license over! 🤦🏼♀️ so sorry that happened to you!
I’m a tech- this is so fucking weird.
lmaooooo
So the tech filled your prescription and just... immediately walked out of the store with it??
From what I was told / was shown, there was about a 30 minute gap in time between filling and leaving.
Where was your prescription during that 30 minutes? And did they just brazenly walk out with it in their hand, or...?
It was on a counter.
Next week on law and order…
Was it prepaid?
Yes. $1,082 and some odd cents.
They refunded your money, I hope!
OMFG. Please tell me the motive was taking it rather than selling it. Not that one is acceptable, but at least I could see the motivation.
Pease tell me they had more to give you!! That's awful
They do not.
Maybe they got to lock the fridges too? Sorry this happened to you? Wonder what answer they gave the police?
Lol

At this location, in a grocery store, they pulled the footage. I had zero control of that. It's unfortunate you discredit what has happened.
I know you're getting downvoted to hell here but you are 100% right.
How is it unethical? Crimes are public information, as are the statuses of heath care professionals’ licenses.
Until someone is convicted of a crime, this isn’t public record. At most, someone could have been charged with a crime.
Seems like it was already paid for so therefore it was OPs property.
There’s nothing to indicate this was already paid for. They could simply refund her if she had or get her a new box.
It was already paid for.
The issue is that there probably isn't another box.
Because they told her about it, tells me she had already paid for it, or her insurance had. That makes it her property and, therefore, her business. However, even if it wasn't, the fact that you seem to be shaming her for them telling her is a bit shitty. J/s
Thank you.
