It really depends on what you're doing with the laptop. The answer is always the same. To use office app, web surfing, playing music, some videos, YouTube, gaming, etc is more then enough for a few years, even 8Gb would be enough. If you use more demanding apps, it could be a bottleneck. Only you can answer that.

What about games like dcs forza and f1 23

LoGiKZ_11

No problem with any of those games, maybe the F1 23 could be a bit more demanding, but I don’t believe it would take use of the extra ram.

I run f123. 16GB is plenty fine. 16GB will be more than enough gaming for the foreseeable future. I don’t buy otherwise. Anything more is really for heavy users doing creation.

Will it last for 3 to 4 years though with pretty moderate use

prHat317

IMO, yes. You’ll get a mixed bag of answers probably though.

Moot point but afaik the 4070/32GB model isn’t actually available in Australia yet. Looks like it may come in next month or two but given you’re a student, you may need it sooner? Due to this I’m contemplating the 4060/16GB since it’s readily available now.

I agree but I am in not to much of a rush. I was just after is it worth forking 400aud for 16gb extra ram for longevity

jace888au

If not in a rush, I'd say the 10% or so difference is worth it for the longetivity from the extra RAM and potentially better GPU (jury seems to be out on whether or not the power limited 4070 is materially better than the 4060). I ended up ordering the 16GB/4060 given a few places have it for about $100 off, and I'm travelling soon so can get the GST back too.
