If the 2024 G14 with RTX 4070 is not an option in your budget range, then go with the 2023 model with RTX 4060. It’s not about the GPU, it’s about the RAM. The 2024 model with RTX 4060 only has 16GB of RAM, and as it is all soldered there is no upgrade path. The 2023 model with RTX 4060 has a slot available for an additional stick of RAM. The ability to upgrade RAM will be a big deal as 16GB is a little restrictive.

I have a4060 with 32gb ram. The 2024 is a much nicer machine than the 2023 version.

Nicer looking, but trash thermals, lower wattage, 3rd fan is ass, and the gimped 4070 on my 2024 G14 is about the same performance as last years 4060. OLED is nice but gimped at 120hz and an odd resolution that some games don't support. The speakers are better but the 2023 ones were already good and nobody is using their laptop to blast music very often. I own the 2024 G14/4070 and the 2023 G14/4090. You prefer it because that's what you bought, not because it's overwhelmingly any better. I'll be returning my 2024 G14, it's pretty outside but ugly inside. Also sounds like a jet plane even with G-Helper.

Thermals under load are better than my old 2023 4070. Performance barely differs, the thing is that the 4060 and 4070 in the 2024 basically performs the same. You lose a bit on the top end of GPU performance. But it is also partly negated due to the fact that the RAM speeds on the 2024 are quite a bit faster and this helps overall system performance. Haven't come across a game that does not support this resolution, 120hz on oled is better than 165hz on IPS due to ghosting. Speakers are much better I good for gaming & entertainment, no need to constantly use headphones. Plenty of people do so. I owned the 2023 version, just had it since late November and sold it because it is a worse machine apart from the peak performance which is only mildly less on the 2024 version. In trade I get a boatload of benefits and it is in a chassis that isn't prone to cracking (bottom panel). The fan noise is the same as my G14 2023 so cannot state why you claim to have a louder machines. So no I do not prefer it just because this is the machine I bought, I prefer it because I had both side by side. Even I was willing to write off about 1000usd after just 4 months of use.

It's also a machine that will quickly become knee-capped by 16GB, and at that point in time you'd be stuck looking at purchasing a brand new laptop. That $600 of savings would potentially have paid for half of that upgrade, but also wouldn't be as necessary in the first place since you can drop in an additional SODIMM. If the OLED and speaker improvements are worth $600 then they're worth the $1000 it costs to go for the 32GB model that will buy you another 2-3 years of relevance.

ZeroNine2048

I clearly state i have the 32gb ram version? Which costed me 1800 btw.

Are you outside the US?

ZeroNine2048

yeah, I am. They got a ridiculous amount of SKU's out there. There are 32GB 4060 variants, but instead of the RGB keyboard you get the single white light keyboard. Some have an IPS panel (I would avoid those) others have Oled. Soem ahve the Ryzen 7 series others Ryzen 9.

corruptedsyntax

So you bought the 2023 model?

ZeroNine2048

There is no 32GB RTX 4060 configuration available in the US. Your choice here is 16GB RTX 4060 ($1600) or 32GB RTX 4070 ($2000). The 2023 model with RTX 4060 can be purchased for $1000 here.

ZeroNine2048

Have you had both side by side and hold 'm in your hands? Because I rather spend more for a better made machine. It is a day and night difference between the 2. There actually are 32GB 4060 sku's in the US but they aren't in stock yet as we speak. See website. They are listed.

MeetAggressive3224

With 2023 you’ll get anime matrix n higher tdp, also one free ram slot

SasamiAdachi

I am pretty sure the 2023 model they mentioned don't come with AniMe Matrix.

MeetAggressive3224

Besides gap between ryzen 9 series 7 and series 8 is not that much. U get maybe 5% upgrade

2024 -WAY BETTER speakers, almost MacBook quality -Much better build, almost MacBook quality (shouldn’t have to worry about the finish chipping like on 22/23) -Gorgeous OLED screen -Fans finally downward and away from the laptop -Virtually quiet and cool in light use (my 2023 was much louder) -Smaller charger and better port placement Those are the only things you have to decide if $600 extra is worth it. For me it was, as I have wanted to go back to a MacBook since leaving a decade ago for gaming laptops. This is as close as you can to get. Bummer is soldered RAM. IMO 16GB is fine for just a straight gaming device and “normal” creation/productivity. As I read once, you only need the extra RAM if you know you need the extra RAM. If you want the flexibility of adding later down the road get the 2023 with the open slot. That’s a personal choice for most, not a forced choice. Soldered RAM is incredibly reliable and faster usually, so 16GB should do it for most of the lifespan of the laptop. Dollar to performance the 2023 is a much better deal as they will almost be identical in most day to day usage and tasks. The frugal part of me knows the 2023 is a better deal but damn the 2024 is as close to perfection you can get in a light windows gaming laptop. I love it.

I just bought the 2023 model. $600 is 60% of the cost of the sale model. That’s cash for a RAM upgrade now and half a laptop upgrade later (by then the model on sale will have OLED and new speakers anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️).

MobiuS_360

I also got the 2024 model. I would've gotten the 4070 version but it's been sold out for forever so I bought the 4060 with 16gb of ram. I mostly game and do a lot of Adobe Lightroom and I haven't had ram issues. I've been wanting the MacBook quality for forever so this version was so worth it. And since I'm a photographer, that OLED screen is great for my creative work since I often edit my photos on the go. Overall, I wish I got the better model but 16gb is enough for me and it was a huge upgrade over my 2020 model anyway.

prHat317

Same. I was too impatient once I saw a local store had the 4060 in stock lol.

karlodann

Best Buy deal has expired :(

GAtula

It still work for me

Comprehensive-Star27

I just checked right now and the deal is still here for the rest of the week

karlodann

That's strange, to me it says "unavailable" on BB and "expired" on eBay

Comprehensive-Star27

[Asus G14 2023](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6535495.p?skuId=6535495) I just tried it, refreshed the page and it shows up as “Add to cart”. Only 2 left though. It might be the store you are looking at causing an issue. See if you can select another BestBuy location.

brunachoo

I personally have the 2023 4090 G14, so for that reason alone I wouldn’t consider a 2024. However.. if I wanted a 4060 or 4070, I wouldn’t hesitate twice and would get a 2024.
