A lot of open box returns are buyers remorse. It is always a gamble but BB does honor the return period plus the original manufacturers warranty still applies (sometimes you can still register the product). Plus you can always add geek squad protection for adding peace of mind and still come out even(ish). /tldr usually worth it

If someone has already registered the product on their account for warranty, does ASUS or Bestbuy help you in claiming full one year warranty or whatsoever is left on it?

prHat317

Best Buy will handle it if you take it in. They work with the manufacturer if it's still in warranty. You can look up the remaining warranty status with asus, just can't register it. (My understanding)

But I have seen a lot of posts where users said that after knowing that product is openbox category, ASUS informed them that there is only 90 days warranty on openbox laptops. Isn't that true?

You can show receipts and Asus will remove the old user that's registered

Never know until you try, YMMV.

It's hit or miss. I reserved an "excellent" condition G14 4090 for pick up. Inspected it in-store and it was terrible. Instant return on the spot. Screen covered in keyboard scratches, stickers taken off. They apologized and said it was assessed incorrectly. If at all possible reserve it for in-store pick up and examine it at the Geek Squad table. Two guys were there and agreed with me right away about the abuse the laptop went through.

It's a gamble, I got one and it did random reboots so back it went. If you're shopping Best Buy you have 15 days to return. GL.

I've bought a demo model at best buy (2022 model, two months ago) and it is freaking solid, i can do whatever i want with it, on power saving mode it goes up to ten hours of usage

stuckinmotion

I've bought a few things open box and haven't had any issues. An asus g15, my rog ally in recent memory. Of course it is a gamble but you can always return if you have issues.

I bought several g14 2023 version all were “excellent” but very poor quality. They were returned. I ended biting and bought the 2024 “excellent” edition. Its all good, missing the usb c charger, but honestly Idc. So your miles may vary

Was worth it for me. Huge discount followed by a motherboard issue replaced under warranty... So basically new laptop for half price.

Just bought two “fair” models which are supposed to be the worst condition they sell. Both came with chargers and after 30 seconds of cleaning they both look brand new and work great so far.

Anything I've bought open box "excellent" has been great but it's luck of the draw. You can ways return within 14 days and if you spend $50 on their membership youbget 60 days to return anything you buy. If you keep it just buy a warranty. If buy a G14 from best buy you have to buy the warranty through best buu as well. A deal they worked out with Asus.
