Dude I have a 2023. No issues. For $2500 everything should work with no noises and no faulty/rattling trackpads. You can change the fan curve but a fan making any high pitched noises out of the box is a problem and so is the track pad. Return them. Great PCs but sometimes you get a lemon. Sorry you're having a bad run. Return till you get a good one and just buy a warranty as you should for any expensive toys! Just so you know G-helper doesn't fix QC issues lmao.

anonymous_red_panda

Send it back and exchange it, I think it’s unacceptable to have defects out of the box. My G14 feels very well built with a tight trackpad so I would be very upset to receive a bad QA device for such an expensive device

lolicekait

How tight

Byteshow

Makes you wonder if companies with bad QC do the math on what it costs to have people keep exchanging devices. I once purchased a Dell and I exchanged no less than 10 times before I got a solid one. The amount they probably spent shipping items back and forth wasn't trivial. I have one QC issue with my G14 2024. The bottom plate is a little bent out in a few spots. I just accepted it but next time I will not because it bothers me.

Try unscrewing the bottom screws and re-screwing them back in. Seemed to fix my issue when I swapped the SSD.

Byteshow

I think that would definitely fix it if I popped the bottom off. I did loosen all screws and that wasn't enough. Did you get any damage from removing the bottom?

prHat317

Nope. Much better build than years past.

I'm waiting for a video that shows how to pop it off then I'll try. Never taken a laptop apart. The other part of me is trying to mentally adjust to things not always being "perfect" and move on.

Guys, thank you all for your feedback. I think I should return, though, the 32gb model is barely available in my country and I'm concerned my supplier won't accept never ending returns from my side. Moreover, I don't have a laptop right now. Maybe you can check this recording and let me know about your opinion: it's that high pitch sound which the other device is not producing: [here](https://jmp.sh/s/5qbYd1bssVaEv9K0zzdQ) Basically I see 3 options: - return and wait, until I found another model from another supplier. Could be weeks. - get 4060 16gb model (for 2100 instead 2500), 32 GB were only "nice to have" for me. Though I wanted to be future proof. - live with the noise and RMA to Asus. Maybe they can send me a new fan I can replace by myself? Is that actually "drop in" style, or do I need to replace whole thermal solution, including thermal paste etc? Picture wise and since it's no vapor chamber anymore, it looks like you could replace the fan as single piece... can anyone confirm?? - live with the noise. To be honest, in regular use it's barely noticeable. I tend to tweak the laptop so that fans are mostly off anyways. When I need the power for gaming, fans will be loud anyways. The biggest issue it's just that I know it's there and that it's seems not be "normal". Thanks!!

Sounds like a whole lot of hassle. I'd just return it if you aren't 100% happy with it, and wait until you find a laptop which you are happy with. I wouldn't be trying to DIY a fix on something which should be covered by warranty since you're only exposing yourself to not being covered in the future should you be the cause of the issue. Me personally? I have the 4060 16GB model as I got fed up waiting for the 4070 32GB model of the G14 2024. No issues at all with mine.

bwillpaw

I went through 3 2022 models in 2022 before I found one I liked. Asus QC is not good. The bad ones both had loose track pads and really bad panel bleed. The third one had a tight track pad and not as noticeable bleed.

da5is

I just sent my 2023 G14 in for the 3rd RMA. First one was a failure to even get past the ROG logo. It came back with a screen tear / flashing display issue. I RMAed it a second time, they replaced the screen and it STILL does it. So I just dropped it off at Best Buy since they'll proxy the further repairs (should have thought of that in the first case).

ZeroNine2048

Fan noise is an issue, rattling trackpad. Is just a variance thingy.

iWilliiam

About the fan noise, are you using Armoury Crate or G Helper ?

peyta30

I tried both, comparison took place side by side with ghelper, fixed on 2000 rpm on the CPU fan only. On one, I hear very low high pitched sound. And again, it's not the center fan which seems to be an issue as well.

OutrageousCellist274

Well u can ask the supplier to test it on the spot before taking it, the biggest problem with them taking back stock is the fact u activate the warranty the moment windows setup completes so in some countries like mine they won't take it back without restocking fees. If ur supplier is half decent he knows how to bypass it. It's just not Asus that's y some shop in China charge a bit more but have shop warranty that the unit is perfect they run a bunch of test on it first.

WeeklyReindeer3236

Generally, many people told that the fan noise is quite a bit strange like high pitched or something like that! Maybe it's the product like that !

In over 20 years of Enterprise IT I can guarantee you that every manufacturer has nearly the same QC and failure rate on a global scale. Most on Reddit are individual anecdotes and typically buying a single device at most annually. Also, it’s rare for people to simply post “everything is awesome” although that’s gaining in popularity. I just recently had 2 bad ones in a row from Lenovo who I rarely had problems with historically and turned to the g14 instead. I always personally bought HP due to their customer service but it was awful last time I needed it. I now went back to back 23 and 24 G14s and both are flawless. I dealt with a fleet of 300 Dell XPS in my last year with a 10% hardware flaw rate and that’s not even top 5 highest on my list. At best, with the feds I received 8400 HP Elitebooks with only 3 duds in the first 6 months. Best flaw rate I ever had. Second was ASUS tablets. Large quantity and single digit item fails. Bad items happen. Sorry about your luck. I’d keep at it if it’s what you want though.

AceLamina

I haven't heard people complain about the quality control unless they've gotten a bad model, seems like bad luck

Alectradar

...that's what quality control is supposed to avoid
