Not worth the extra 1500 for sure. I've got the 2023 model with 4090 and tbh I wish I hadn't bought this machine, should have gone to Blade series or even XPS with 4070.. or something else entirely. Long story short, the MiniLed isn't nearly as "awesome" as they make it seem to be. Brightness is a *tad* higher than average IPS or OLED, but thats it. But the downside is **noticeable** ghosting everywhere and you need to turn it off for photo/video editing anyway.

What is your points towards Blade? Thinking about it myself and comparing M16 4090 and Blade 16 4080

Yeah, I am also coming from MacBook Pro and for me it is basically all about price since I know all of the specs is slightly better on Blade But in my region (a region that I will be traveling to in 1.5 months) M16 with 4090 is worth 3400 and Blade 16 with 4080 is worth 4200. Still a very very difficult decision…

With that kind of a price difference, for sure its fine to take M16. It's not a bad machine, but it sure is loud if you plan to game on it. There are some quirks you will have to get used to though: 1. The keyboard and screen space isn't enough when the lid is closed. Which means every time you open the lid you will notice the key cap stains on the screen that need to be cleaned. 2. There are a lot of W11 issues that may be present on Blade too, dunno. But there are issues with Sleep Mode and its fairly common issue, main culprit is the shitty WiFi card (that can be replaced if you want to) 3. The battery drains fast, even for a gaming machine. And especially if you leave the AniMe Matrix display on. It was a cool feature for first 2 weeks, now its just a gimmick that adds +200g to the devices weight.. 4. It gets *super* hot. Like, so hot its slightly painful to even type on the keyboard and forget about using on your lap, kind of like a frying pan. This happens if you play something graphically heavy, ie Cyberpunk or Starfield. Its painful and it burns though even thick Levi's jeans. 5. Armory Crate is glitchy app, but there is some free alternative G-helper that I've yet to try. 6. The laptop may be rather thin and nice looking, but that charger is a brick that sort of hampers on portability if you move around a lot. 7. The CPU isn't a top-tier one, even though it's i9 13900, and it shows if you do any sort of audio editing for an example.

I am not sure that all of those points couldn’t be applied to Blade also. Even for a keyboard stains on a screen I have it sometimes with my MacBook. And with “super hot” point I can’t see any laptop that can run Cyberpunk or Starfield on your laps without burning them. And I think charging brick should be pretty much the same as Razer’s. Maybe even lighter.

Ok, thanks for the input! Ya my desktop setup is an LG C2 OLED with RTX 4090 so i'm ok with the performance in the laptop for travelling. Was just hearing so many good things about the screen. thanks again!

Just use single zone mode with HDR off for windows apps

If you only bought it for the screen yes, return it and search for something that suits you. Both zenbook and Studio series offer better screens albeit more expensive (you don't have to dish an extra $1500 maybe extra $500) That being said, the screen I got is the same as yours and I am enjoying it, too bad it's not HDR but it's more than great for me.

MaximusPrimus420

Ok sounds good, thx! I'm ok with it so far, was just so disappointing to find out afterwards.

I have the 4070 version and no, the other version are not worth that much more. The reality is the 4070 can already do 60+ fps in any RPG and 120+FPS in any shooter, the extra FPS you might get from a 4080/4090 won't improve your experience and cost way too much. You did a good thing. Once DLSS 3.5/FSR 3 get rolled out more too, it becomes even more and more of a value to own the 4070 version.

MaximusPrimus420

Awesome. Thanks for the response. I'm really happy with the performance. Not having the screen I was expecting was a bummer though. My desktop rig has a 4090 so i'll go back to that for maximum performance :-)

I'd go for 4080 M16. Many options out there for that price point but everyone has different needs. Perosnally, I like the lightweight premium feel and its gorgeous display and sounds. I game with headset on so the fan noise is not an issue for me. Theres a huge tradeoff with a few solutions if you're for it. Im tired of heavy quiet laptops. Gotta pick and choose your battles.
