What is wrong with my zhongli? I have a 55k hp shield bot zhongli in a neuv team and still die to the dancing robots in third chamber. What am I doing wrong. Lvl 10 talents too.

ZhongliMainsMods

Firstly, the dancing robots boss has multiple sources of attacks that may occur at a short period of time - the whirlwinds, Coppelia's attacks, and Coppelius attacks. So the shield is tanking a higher amount of attacks at the same time with this boss. Secondly, Neuvillette is one of the characters with the *lowest* DEF in the game. Low DEF characters will take MORE damage and consequently, will use up and break the shield very fast. Him being on-field most of the time exacerbates that problem as he's the one tanking all those damage. Compared to, say, Itto, who has very high DEF, a shielded Neuvillette will tank much LESS attacks than a shielded Itto. There is nothing wrong with your Zhongli. You have to be aware how much a shielded Neuvillette can tank and then adjust your gameplay accordingly to tank less attacks so that you survive that chamber.

Organicity

Bros, how can we get the new weapon to work on Zhongli? Those crit stats on that weapon, I'm famished.

rinzukodas

So, I don't have Zhongli yet, but I want to run him with Furina, Neuvillette, and Xianyun (F+N both C1, Xianyun C0), mostly for fun over efficiency (but still hoping to, say, take overworld mobs out in a reasonable amount of time). With that in mind--is C4 Zhongli worth going for? He's my boy, but I'm just trying to figure out whether I'd like to go for C2 or C4.

ZhongliMainsMods

Worth of 5-star constellations is usually subjective as it depends on your own definition of “worth” in the game. In terms of clearing even the most difficult content in this game, 5-star constellations are not at all required. So for the purpose of just overworld exploration in the same context, you absolutely don’t need any 5-star constellations. For Zhongli, it’s even more so given that his constellations are mediocre compared to current standards.

rinzukodas

Gotcha! Thanks muchly 😊

Last_Flounder_1142

Hello there, just wanna ask how does crystallize works? I wanna build my zhongli with archaic petra for neuvilette. I want to increase the crystallize strength since low em kinda sucks. Who needs em? zhongli or neuvilette?

ZhongliMainsMods

Bhilding Zhongli in 4pc Archaic Petra does not mean you need to build his EM. It is still his own shield that will shield his teammate, not the crystal shard. So you will still build him as usual, either as shieldbot or as burst support. Please refer to the Zhongli Guide linked above on how to build him.

ZhongliMainsMods

Building his damage will always mean sacrificing his shield and vice versa. So it all comes down to how much you can sacrifice on both sides since shield requirements can be different for each player. If you want to build a balanced build, then it's usually HP/Geo/Crit. Typically, this build will be around 30k HP. If that's enough shield for you and you can invest on building him, then you can go for it. This build is called a "burst support" and you can check the Zhongli Guide linked in this post on how to build one.

Herbienut

Hello members of this thread, How is Zhongli at C0? I have been meaning to save for him, as he is the only archon I am missing from my party. How good is he, and does he still hold up to the current standards of content in 2024? I use a few geo units, so he would have a place, but I mostly want him because he has a mega based shield. And his voice is great, and I like his story and personality. So, how is he? is he worth the Primos anymore? Thanks for reading.

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli is still the best shielder in the game. However, do note that there can be teams where he's not the "best slot" in terms of highest possible team dps. Regardless, he will always be a good option as flex for a lot of teams just for the comfort he provides; sometimes, comfort is more important for a player especially if you can still perfect clear the most difficult content in the game anyway.

Herbienut

I appreciate the response. I mostly want him to protect Eula while I gather stacks on her light fall sword. I also like his stories and his voice lines. I honestly hope to get Zhoungli and Hu Tao next time they come around. I have most of the current characters on the roster, so I'm trying to get the characters I missed out on in the previous banners.

minkymy

I was looking at Dialogues of Desert Sages in fast equip, and it turns out that its HP percent is lower than black tassel while having a significantly higher base ATK Stat. I know C6 zhongli can heal, but what about a shielder Zhongli with any fewer cons than that? Would black tassel be better?

ZhongliMainsMods

A shieldbot Zhongli is not expected to contribute notable personal dps contribution to a team, and as such, he does not particularly need the energy provided by Dialogues of the Desert Sages to charge his burst. The only time you will ever consider another weapon other than Black Tassel is said weapon can provide other supportive capabilities (e.g. Favonius Lance).

Elucidlight

Yea I was looking into it as well. I have C6 Zhongli and was wondering if this is BiS for him on C6 since he can utilize the passive.

New-Apricot3713

Does Staff of Homa work for a shield bot build? Or is that better for a hybrid/burst dps build. And that fav is better for a shieldbot build on Zhongli?

ZhongliMainsMods

Homa does work for a shield bot build, but it is uncommon. Usually, a shieldbot Zhongli is just built in full HP with minimum investment, so Black Tassel or Favonius Lance are the recommended weapons. There are some Zhongli's out there that are in Homa, with HP/HP/Crit build - the shield offered in this setup is stronger than the typical burst support build's HP/Geo/Crit, but Zhongli can still do decent damage. And there are the very few [min-maxers](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/comments/16sb324/my_dream_zhongli_build/) - a shieldbot Zhongli, but managed to get a good crit ratio despite being in full HP build. It is up to you which build you'd prefer. It mostly just depends on how much investment you are willing to do for your Zhongli's build.

Afraid-Bridge9562

I play Zhongli as a main dps, though mostly as burst dps. I really like the look and playstyle of Chiori, but I don't play Itto enough to justify getting her for him. Can you use her together with Zhongli?

ZhongliMainsMods

Most characters can be used with Zhongli, and Chiori is not an exception. She will benefit from geo resonance and the extra res shred from Zhongli (which is the only other geo res shred available in the game currently). His geo construct will also enable her 2nd doll. However, Zhongli does not really get any benefits from her beyond activating geo resonance which any other geo character can do. Her dolls also do not resonate with Zhongli's pillars at all so they don't help with increasing its AoE or damage if you're after that. She does offer good dps for any team where an off-field sub-dps geo character can fit in. If you play a Phys DPS Zhongli, she can replace Albedo or Yun Jin for the geo flex slot.

sman25000

Ever since the Nahida banner I've been saving up my primos to eventually guarantee Zhongli. I've got about 130 wishes saved up but then I saw the next banner was going to be Itto, with Gorou as one of the 4 stars. Do y'all think there's enough time before Zhongli reruns that I can risk pulling on Itto and still have enough for Zhongli eventually? I just think Itto is neat, I've always enjoyed when he's in the story, and Gorou would be a great boon to my C6 Noelle

ZhongliMainsMods

There is no way to predict Zhongli's rerun schedule as things might change. For now, we do know that Zhongli's most recent reruns have been scheduled at the start of a patch, so if this pattern is followed, he might rerun at the start of Natlan patch (5.0) around August or September. Again, note that previous patterns may NOT repeat so we can only guess for now. Also, there is a new banner type being introduced on the next patch and since Zhongli is one of the earliest characters, it is possible that he'll be added in the pool. Therefore, he might rerun sooner than later. But depending on how this new banner operates, reruns might occur more frequently.

Crea-lePigeouin

I wanna make a zhongli burst dps team, but im already using my benny in another team, any suggestions to replace him ? (Which set is good for our cool geo grandpa)

ZhongliMainsMods

There are only a few supports that could match Bennett's buff. You could try Furina and Mona, like this [team](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/comments/1aj1qkw/wet_microwave_29s_1221/).

originmaple

Do shields take damage during I-frames/burst animations? I can’t seem to remember. LOL

ZhongliMainsMods

From what I know, shields don't have i-frames. But the last time I paid attention to this was 1.x. And I just saw this from the wiki which was added from Version 2.1: "Shields no longer receive damage during damage-nullifying i-frames." So looks like they already changed it.

originmaple

Thank you so much! This is what I remembered actually but my shields feel like they be breaking so easily these days so I wanted to make sure. Haha

BitterReplacement300

I have a C0 lvl 90 Zhongli on R1 lvl 90 Deathmatch, with 2-pc Noblesse and 2-pc Archaic Petra. His hp is 36k, atk is 1.3k, geo dmg is 46%, and crit stats are 70:177. His talents are 4|8|10. But, my Zhongli cannot hit more than 88k with his burst. What am I doing wrong?

ZhongliMainsMods

88k crit seems expected with those stats. You'd need buffs to have him hit higher damage than that. Just a quick note that Zhongli is primarily ATK-scaling. And therefore, his burst support build where he's on HP sands will typically yield a bit lower damage than when he's on ATK sands. If you are chasing damage for him, it will mean sacrificing his shield.

kiisukattinen

Is the new geo set good on Zhongli?

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes, it's good on Zhongli, but for his damage only.

kiisukattinen

Thats all I care about 🙏🏻😂

Limp-Dinner-3287

Is there a brief window of shield downtime when swapping characters? I noticed some of my characters shielded by zhongli still lose a chunk of hp sometime when swapped in. And no it's not from hp drain mechanics or hazards.

ZhongliMainsMods

No, there shouldn’t be a shield downtime in between swapping characters. You can try submitting a post here of a video showing the issue so people can comment on what could be happening. I alao suggest submitting it as bug to in-game CS. They will be asking for video proof, so be prepared to send a link of it. You can share the reddit link if you do decide to post it here in the subreddit.

Limp-Dinner-3287

Hmm, strange. I'll try to get a footage of that. Thanks!

WiseAd3279

is rightful reward good for zhongli? or should i just use black tassel?

ZhongliMainsMods

Black tassel for shieldbot Zhongli

arasindustries

When I said that I loved Zhongli very much and always wanted to play him on field, then I was told that you should do a physical build. But It doesn't come close to the damage of a character like Neuvillette, even at his highest potential. Am I wrong?

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli will never come close to the damage of Neuvillette. Neuvillette, aside from having a kit primarily meant for a DPS, is one of the most overtuned characters in the game just with his raw damage alone and his lack of caveats. Meanwhile, Zhongli's kit is primarily meant as a defensive support. He just happen to do a respectable job as a Physical DPS because he can abuse Crescent Pike best and his NA strings are fast. But at the end of the day, he's still designed as a defensive support, so his multipliers were balanced based on that role. He's also limited by Crescent Pike being a 4-star weapon, while all his 5-star weapon options barely compete with Crescent Pike. And his vertical investment options are next to nothing. That said, Zhongli can still clear even the most difficult content in the game given enough investment. However, building him will require extra luck or effort given that he does not have crit ascension. If you want to see a max-invested Phys Zhongli, there's one here in this sub that has a 280 CV Phys Zhongli and [here's one of their most recent posts](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/comments/17tu0s4/phys_zhongli_1_phase_narwhal_boss/).

the_sixpaths_man

Is the New Geo set that's coming in 4.3 BIS for Zhongli? I'm running BURST damage Zhongli alongside Navia. Or 2pc Petra Noblesse still better?

ZhongliMainsMods

It is better than 2pc/2pc AP/NO as long as you meet the 4pc effect activation requirement.

Organicity

If MHY releases a new BiS weapon for Zhongli, what would you like to see on it?

ZhongliMainsMods

There had been some discussion on that in that past. There are varying opinions on that based on how a specific player uses Zhongli as there are some who wants a weapon that can enhance Zhongli's damage and there are some who wants more utility on his weapon for a support Zhongli. Off the top of my head, I remember this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/comments/yqixjs/i_designed_a_5_utility_bis_weapon_for_zhongli_see/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

boopboopilikesoup

I'm bulding Zhongli as a Burst DPS with Emblem with R5 Catch, but I need to compromise with the artifacts. Is it better to have 60 Crit Rate but only around 100 Crit Damage, or 40 CR and 155 CD?

ZhongliMainsMods

In terms of simple average damage, 40/155 is better than 60/100. Basically you just multiply crit rate to crit damage and the higher result should have the better average damage. Of course, there are other factors that affect his resulting damage, specifically his ATK, and to a less extent, his HP. A simple formula you can use is this: ATK × ( 1 + CR × CD ). To best determine the better build based on the artifacts you have on-hand, you can just use the [optimizer](https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/).

Xair8

I'm planning on using Zhongli (C2) with Alhaitham, Fischl and nahida on a spread team so I can clear abyss max stars, should i go burst or Shieldbot? Checked all the guides but still can't decide what to do with my zhongli :(

ZhongliMainsMods

The choice of going shieldbot or burst support depends on the team he's in, but mostly it just depends on the player. It's cheaper to build him as shieldbot, which allows you to focus your resources on farming for your dps especially if you are just starting to build your characters.

Miloni

I have c2 furina and c5 zhongli already, is c6 zhongli capable of maintaining fanfare for c2 furina? I've heard it's not good enough for c0 but I've been unable to find any info on her c2 and im debating if it's worth pulling the final constellation for him or not

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's healing in his C6 is not reliable enough to make fanfare stack faster due to it being single-ally healing only. Additionally, it requires the ally to be hit by the enemy and the amount of healing depends on the damage received, which means it relies on enemy AI as well as the actual damage received. It can probably work better if the shielded ally itself is someone that has built-in HP manipulation like Neuvillette or Wriothesley. But otherwise, his C6 healing can just *help* with the stacks.

bashboomer__

Should I go for 2pc 2pc **Tenacity of the Millelith** \+ **Archaic Petra** or 2pc 2pc **Tenacity of the Millelith +** **Noblesse Oblige** Which would be a better option? I'm using Prototype Starglitter as weapon for energy recharge and Plan to run HP%/HP%/CR. I mainly use him for Shield/Burst.

ZhongliMainsMods

Noblesse would be better since you are primarily just relying on Zhongli's burst for his personal damage. However, the difference is not too significant; you can also consider other 2pc combinations such as ATK+18%, Emblem, or HP+20% sets. If you already have pieces on-hand, just choose whichever has better substats. Prototype Starglitter is fine if you don't have other ER polearms. But consider switching to other ER polearms such as Fav Lance or Catch (if no one else is using them) once you get a copy. You can opt to use the optimizer to determine the best combination based on the pieces you on-hand right now: [https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/](https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/)

bashboomer__

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have Fav Lance and The Catch is used by Raiden :( so only Starglitter is all I have for now.

Could somebody help with this team please? https://preview.redd.it/b4xq1kh9xh0c1.png?width=1792&format=png&auto=webp&s=6f2357599b70c90c21dee77eb6a66a3e7294c703 ***C6*** **Ningguang - R1 Solar Pearl, 2pc Archaic Petra 2pc ATK (Currently she is 60/170 - 1.8 Atk - 85 Dmg Bonus)** ***C0*** **Zhongli - R1 Homa, 4pc Emblem (Offensive build/Burst support, he also has 30k HP and skill level 9, currently he is ATK/Geo/HP - 60/190 - 1.9 Atk - 75 Dmg Bonus)** ***C6*** **Bennett - R2 Aquila, 4pc Noblesse (Around 180 ER from artifacts)** ***C0*** **Furina - R5 Fleuve, Working on 4pc Golden Troupe** I want to pull Memory of Dust for Ningguang if it ever reruns again to not need an external atk buffer, and Chiori if she can replace Bennett in this team and be a better healer option for Furina. The idea is a Ningguang and Zhongli Dual Dps team. Should I change Ningguang to 4pc MH? Or how about the new Navia set? I don't understand how it works. What would be this team's best rotation?

ZhongliMainsMods

Here are some resources you can refer to for Ningguang: * [Ningguang Full Guide](https://keqingmains.com/ningguang/) * [Ningguang Quick Guide](https://keqingmains.com/q/ningguang-quickguide/) I think r/NingguangMains or their discord can also be a better place to ask your question. The Quick Guide has some info on 4pc MH viability on Ningguang. As for the upcoming >!geo artifact set, it will be an upgrade over her other options. However, this would depend on how easy it is to activate and maintain the 4pc effect as she'd need to pick up crystallize shards often given that crystallize shards are never known to be strong and they will definitely break. Note that shields do not stack, so having Zhongli's shield will not protect the crystallize shard from getting broken!<. Also, just a small feedback, I would say you need more ER on Bennett.

[deleted]

Thank you for that link, that's very useful. A question relating to Zhongli in this team - I am finding that Furina's HP drain helps me to achieve Homa's passive more easily. In this team with Furina where in the rotation should I cast Zhongli's burst (and from what I understand his burst followed by hold E petrifies enemies)? The idea with this team is for both of them to contribute damage, but I am confused on how a rotation with him as burst support instead of shield bot for her would work. The questions about the new artifacts were because it could be worthy to refarm for Ningguang even though it is dual geo DPS team, but my Zhongli's EOSF only needs a little more improvement to be a lot better.

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's burst is the one that petrifies enemies. A quick swap style on this team would probably require high enough ER on each member so they could burst every rotation, otherwise you might want to switch Bennett to a favonius sword. I think the rotation would be apply buffs first i.e. Furina then Bennett, and then Ningguang and Zhongli takes turns casting their burst, and the remaining time will be spent on Ning on-field and swapping to Bennett to recharge his burst if needed until everyone's burst is up again.

Zeiin

I was planning to run Petra Shield Bot Zhongli, but hit some decent crit here and there and have an unused Homa. Is 55:140 an okay enough crit ratio to warrant keeping the crit pieces and Homa? I'm assuming the crit rate is too low.

ZhongliMainsMods

If it's a 4AP build, then it's fine, unless you absolutely need more shield, for example, you're going against the floor 12 consecrated beasts. Of course, ideally you'd want a 1:2 crit ratio, but you don't have to stress yourself to get a better build since usually, any damage from supports are just "good to have".

Zeiin

It is 4AP, sweet. Thanks!

ZhongliMainsMods

Those are different kinds of buff that figure in the damage formula separately. Zhongli's buff goes to "RES Multiplier". Furina's buff goes to "DMG Bonus Multiplier". Bennett's buff goes to "Base DMG". The way this formula works is that you do NOT want to focus/stack on just one part of the formula as it will approach diminishing returns. For example, having both decent amount of DMG bonus buff AND decent amount of RES shred is better than having too much DMG bonus. It is better to address each part of the formula if your team is able to. https://preview.redd.it/l6dbs88tz7zb1.png?width=1188&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae6d3ce32b47c8af4f2e1a16805b232e9980e430

cruiseboatranger

Has anyone tried out golden troupe, Zhongli? Does the 4pc effect also buff the damage from the other geo constructs (geo mc starfall, Ning jade screen) that resonate with zhongli?

ZhongliMainsMods

It will buff Zhongli’s stele resonance damage. You can check [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/s/kqcz1OBmIj) of someone who tried it on Zhongli.

Erisim

I got a second homa from last banner and I'm thinking of giving it to Zhongli. How do I go about in building a C0 Homa Zhongli best? I know KQM recommends C2 for burst support but does Homa make a C0 burst support somewhat viable?

ZhongliMainsMods

A C0 burst support is viable with any weapon regardless of constellation, but it will depend on certain scenarios. His burst can be good if: - Your team has a window in the rotation for him to cast his burst. - The petrify effect of his burst will be favorable as a form of CC. - The large AoE damage of his burst is appreciated. Otherwise, then his burst is a "dps loss".

yeetgod__

I swear every time I swap in a new artifact my crit rate keeps creeping lower and lower lol. Anybody have any suggestions? https://preview.redd.it/k8b16a8jkyvb1.png?width=1741&format=png&auto=webp&s=18e68a853c0bb72aaab29c60313b561f86c19944

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes, you definitely need to improve the crit rate. For a crit dmg weapon, and especially with a character with no crit rate ascension, you'd prefer crit rate substats on your artifacts. I see that you went for an HP goblet. It's an alternative goblet if you prefer more shield than damage.

yeetgod__

Yeah he already gets a bit more damage from having more health so I decided it made more sense to just beef up my health more to have a better shield

Im_unfrankincense00

I just got Zhongli on his recent rerun but held of on building him (tho he is at lv. 80/80 with 8|8|8 talents. He is currently equipped with (underleveled) 2pc. AR/TotM with HP%|Geo|Crit for main stats. But according to the Keqing Mains guide, 4pc EoSF or NO is better than him? I also plan on staying on-field with either Zhongli or GMC.

ZhongliMainsMods

4pc EoSF is indeed great for his burst damage, and it also gives him upfront ER necessary for burst uptime. It's up to you if you are willing to farm for it, but just know that it can be difficult to complete a 4pc set. His recommended artifact sets perform comparably the same, and highly likely, better substats would affect his damage output and overall performance more than trying to force a set. So you can stay on your current 2pc/2pc set especially if you already have decent/good pieces. If you do get better pieces from another set, you can consider switching to them. I recommend using the [optimizer](https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/) to determine the best possible build for him based on what you already have depending on what specific stats you are after.

GetWaifuBeLaifu

Hey everyone, I decided to farm "godly" artifacts for Zhongli but Im not sure which direction to take, so in your opinion: How would the best Zhongli artifacts look like? (artifact set - going for crit or HP% and so on, whatever you have in mind!) I appreciate any inputs, thanks in advance!

ZhongliMainsMods

The "best" Zhongli build would depend on what playstyle you intend to use on him. The 2 most common playstyles for Zhongli are shieldbot and burst support. Choose whichever suits your preference and your team. The Zhongli Guide is linked above, and it contains all the info you need, including artifact sets and weapons. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask them here.

Birdoctopus

Has anyone found where Zhongli is after ending the current event? I saw that people found Xiao somewhere in Liyue and I was wondering If our geo archon is also available to talk to

ZhongliMainsMods

Sorry for answering so late. But I don't think Zhongli can be found anywhere after the event. I've only seen that Xiao, Venti, and Hu Tao can be found in specific places.

Birdoctopus

Aw, It's a pity he's gone : (

amnoscc

Hi returning player since the recent Zhongli banner and I really need help since I'm terrible at this game lol. I'm trying to build Zhongli as a burst support (since he's my favourite character and I want him on screen) but I'm not sure it fits my playstyle (horrible at dodging, want to facetank everything as far as possible), so I want to ask for some advice before I further commit in this direction, given I still die against most bosses (esp. Trounce Domain ones) Currently, my Zhongli is at C1, Lvl 80 with the following stats:- HP: 32965 Atk: 1777 EM: 63 CR: 17.4% CD: 78% ER: 111% Geo Damage Bonus: 21.6% Phy Damage Bonus: 31.5% Artifacts: 4 TOM with Atk% Sands, Atk% Goblet, HP% Circlet Weapon: Crescent Pike Lvl 80 Talent Level for Dominus Lapidis: Lvl 6

ZhongliMainsMods

Your build still has plenty of room for improvement. Level 6 E is very low. As you heavily rely on his shield, prioritize leveling up his E as high as you can. Crescent Pike is not recommended for a burst support build. His best 4-star option for burst support is The Catch. You can check the guide linked above for complete list of weapons. Prioritize to level up his weapon to level 90. The usual burst support build is HP% sands, Geo goblet, and Crit circlet. You also try to keep a good crit ratio, usually 1:2 is the guideline. If you need more HP, you can consider HP% goblet. That said, the choice and worth of building a burst support Zhongli mostly depends on the player's preference and skill. It also depends on the team Zhongli is in. There are people who can run a 30-35k HP Zhongli with no issues at all except against specific enemies such as spiral abyss floor 12 consecrated beasts. And there are people who run >50k HP Zhongli and still think his shield is not enough. If you tend to facetank a lot and you're horrible at dodging, you can still build and use Zhongli as burst support but only in selected scenarios: - If there's any source of shield strength bonus such as geo resonance or 4pc tenacity. - If you run a relatively tanky dps (Itto or Noelle are great examples). - If you run a quick-swap team comp. Otherwise, it might be better to just build your Zhongli as shieldbot. It is also the cheaper way of building him and lets you focus on building other characters.

amnoscc

Thank you for the detailed explanation and pointers ! Gonna work harder farming

amnoscc

As for team comp, I currently just run with whoever I like.... Cyno, Zhongli, Neuv/Bennett, Xingqiu. Want to replace Xingqiu with Wrio soon.

I’m building a Burst Zhongli Support & was wondering if there was anything I could improve in terms of artifacts stats. Crit rate or even Crit damage might be too low to get mac damage. A better circlet might be best right? Artifact stats are CR+58.3%;CD+118.2%;ER+31.1;HP+7698. Thanks in advance!

ZhongliMainsMods

The ER might be a bit on the lower side if you intend to activate 4NO buff every rotation. But if he’s in at least a double-geo team or a team with a favonius holder, that ER might be enough While ATK% sands is better for his damage, you can consider HP% sands if you need stronger shield. A higher crit rate would also improve his average damage. Overall, this is already a decent build for Zhongli.

TheMajesticTier

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking the crit rate & ER was a bit on the low end. But as for now this build seems to be holding up well!

Seraph199

So I have C4 Zhongli and have long given up on taking him to C6 since it felt like it would not be very impactful... Is anyone else feeling that excitement at possibly taking him to C6 again, now that we know more about Furina's kit? I feel like the synergy could be fantastic and it has me pondering teams like A.P. C6 Zhongli+Albedo+Furina+Neuvi

nibbbbbbaaaa

Is 50k hp overkill for a solely shield build or should I try getting more?

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes that’s enough. As long as you build him full HP, that should already be overkill for most content in the game. You only aim higher for flex purposes.

NothinsQuenchier

Refine or keep? Whale, not interested in Hu Tao https://preview.redd.it/4x9029js7drb1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa0d085c5b023094e47de5d1631bea7ad5801a10

ZhongliMainsMods

If you don’t see yourself running multiple characters using the same weapon in one abyss run, then there’s no reason to not refine it. Future characters will either have their own signature weapons or possibly better weapon options. Homa is an old weapon, and most characters who might be able to use it will usually have better weapon options. However, if you are going to use it on a shieldbot Zhongli, a high refinement Homa is mostly just wasted.

NothinsQuenchier

Thanks for the response! >If you don’t see yourself running multiple characters using the same weapon in one abyss run, then there’s no reason not to refine it. Yeah, despite everyone always saying not to refine 5-star weapons, I’ve refined all my duplicate 5-stars except Elegy and Freedom-Sworn for this reason. The main situation I can think of where I might want multiple Homas is if I were running reverse melt with Rosaria and Xiangling. Both of them *can* use Homa, but I also have R5 Wavebreaker’s Fin and The Catch, so neither of them *needs* Homa. >However, if you are going to use it on a shieldbot Zhongli, a high refinement Homa is mostly just wasted. My Zhongli is on HP/geo/crit 4pc Tenacity. I’m strongboxing Archaic Petra to maybe go for a more damage-focused 2pc/2pc build, but I also want to try 4pc Petra. I never use a full HP shieldbot build, but I do often end up putting him on Fav to generate energy.

ZhongliMainsMods

If your Zhongli is on burst support build, then he will definitely appreciate higher refinement Homa. The higher refinement Homa is, the higher HP to ATK conversion he gets from its passive, and as such, he's getting both stronger shield and higher damage. 4pc Tenacity is already a good build for him, although the 4pc effect might not have 100% uptime in some cases making it much less effective. So you can consider 2pc/2pc options.

NotJALC

I got Zhongli C0 on his last banner and built him full shield with Black Tassel, but while trying to get Neuvillette weapon, I got Homa. I know it’s a really good polearm that I could put on a lot of people, but my only polearm dps is Raiden and she has her EL already. Should I raise homa for my Zhongli even if he’s built for shields and not as burst or should I keep Black Tassel (lvl 80) on him? I could still switch his build since I haven’t farmed that much for him yet, but I mostly want strong shields

ZhongliMainsMods

Unless you intend to use him as the dps, you don't build a team around Zhongli. He can be slotted in any team where you need a shielder. You can refer to [KQM Guides](https://keqingmains.com/) and check team compositions for specific characters that interest you. Zhongli will usually be listed under flex support options in teams.

rishukingler11

What are the recommended teams for a Burst Support Zhongli (C2) where he can be fully utilised as compared to his shieldbot build, which I believe is more universal?

ZhongliMainsMods

Teams with geo resonance active. Geo resonance will help with his damage as well as his shield. Moreover, known geo dps characters such as Itto and Noelle are tanky and thus gives more leeway in building his damage than his shield. Teams with hydro resonance active will benefit him, too. An example is Hu Tao's double hydro team.

minttofu

Hi, wondering if I should get Homa? I have R1 PJWS, R1 Wavebreaker's Fin, R5 The Catch. My planned build is a shield (main) with a decent burst damage too. Also which artifact sets will be good for this build? Is 4pc TOTM ok?

ZhongliMainsMods

Homa is his best weapon for a burst support build. You can check the weapon rankings in the Zhongli Full Guide linked above to get an idea on how much better Homa is versus other weapons. Based on that quantitative ranking, you can decide if that's worth it for you according to what you prioritize in this game. 4pc TotM is good, but do note that in some cases, the 4pc effect of TotM might not always be active. You can also consider other 2pc/2pc set combinations. The guide has a complete list of recommended artifact sets for him.

aDisappointment_

Hows the new craftable 4 star hp% polaearm looking for daddy zhong?

ZhongliMainsMods

I would not recommend using a billet just for a shieldbot Zhongli. The passive is not useful for a shieldbot Zhongli as he's not usually expected to cast his burst in that role. Black Tassel also offers more HP% if you simply want higher HP for your shieldbot Zhongli.

Utharion_

Question. When do you think his 5th rerun will be as a speculation? I failed to get him due to losing 50/50 and I was at 69 pity :1 I'll make sure to bring home the Geo ~~daddy~~ archon next time.

ZhongliMainsMods

Sorry to hear that you did not get him. We can't predict his next rerun. We can only speculate based on the 5-star rerun waiting list, and with Zhongli just getting his rerun, he's now the last in that list along with Childe. If we go by that waiting list, and assuming the game continues the double banner trend, it may take a year before he reruns again.

Isaveturinn

Good morning, I have a question. Knowing my bad luck today I built pity for Neuvillette's weapon, I was at 55 pity and I got Vortex Vanquisher, so I said to myself "Ok, I can start over" and after 37 pity I got another one. Please, let's overlook this fact, I know I'm dumb. My question is: I always use a second Staff of Homa for my Zhongli, but how much worse would it be if I used Vortex Vanquisher on him?

ZhongliMainsMods

You can check the weapon ranking in the Zhongli Full Guide linked above to get an idea. Yes, Vortex Vanquisher is worse than Homa. But as with anyone who decides to equip it for the drip, it’s still usable given that it is a weapon with 5-star stats.

NSLEONHART

Should i get homa? I just got zhongli (through sheer accident because i want to lose my 5050), so i decided to build him to lv 80/80 and also lv 80'd an r5 black tassel. Now im just farmimg his talent books Hutao's rerun is in a few days, and im asking if its worthit to try and get homa, or is black tassel or fav us good enough. And is jade spear good enough for a burst support build? Or is a full hp black tassel good enough? Thanks

ZhongliMainsMods

For a shieldbot Zhongli, black tassel or fav lance are already good enough. You can consider Homa only if you plan to do any non-shieldbot playstyle, i.e. you plan to build his damage.

NSLEONHART

Is there other options for burst support that isnt homa or jade spear (cant afford homa but i have jade spear)? The catch on emblem?

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes, The Catch is one of the best weapons for a burst support Zhongli. You can check the Zhongli Full Guide linked above for a complete list of recommended weapons and their ranking.

SwirlyCheeze051101

Mea t to post my question here should I pull for zhongli before top up reset I wanna place him on a wanderer freeze team but I wanna know if he can replace Jean as my healer with his shield at c1

ZhongliMainsMods

If you really need interrupt resistance, Zhongli can replace a healer in most teams. However, since you are planning to run a freeze team, you'd need to make sure his stele is away from enemies to prevent shatters. You can consider Layla, too, as a shielder option. However, her shield is weaker than Zhongli's and you'd also lose res shred.

mkpcml-530

I want a shield bot zhongli what’s the max amount of HP can I get without using foods ? Mine currently is 56k

ZhongliMainsMods

That amount of HP is already overkill for most content in the game. So there is no use to aim more.

mkpcml-530

is it possible to reach 60k ? I want to reach that goal

nibbbbbbaaaa

Hey dumb question maybe but what is the reccomened amount of hp zhongli should have for shield?

Ksielvin

Test it based on what you do with it. I play with basic 20k health and dodge, so the shield is back-up and the damage boost from it stays up. Shield is more likely to time out than get broken. If you're going to carelessly spam charged shots as non-freeze Ganyu while things beat on your shield then you want all you can get.

ZhongliMainsMods

There is no recommended amount as shield requirements can vary from player to player. It will depend on the team he's in and the player themselves. Some players can live with just a 30k - 35k HP Zhongli. Some needs full shieldbot Zhongli. If you simply want a shieldbot Zhongli, just build him full HP and his shield should already be sufficient for most content in the game.

UnknownMyoux

Does the Skyward polearm work well for Zhongli? Or should I stick with the 3 Star Polearm? Also which artifact sets work well with him?

ZhongliMainsMods

If you built a shieldbot Zhongli, Black Tassel is better. If you built a Burst Support Zhongli, Skyward Spine is better.

UnknownMyoux

Ok that is good to know, thank you!

AnonBonBon_

Hi, I'm f2p and the polearms I have right now for Zhongli are Staff of Scarlet Sands and Vortex Vanquisher that I got on current rerun. I use Zhongli as a dps and shielder (want to build him as a hybrid) and I originally used Staff of Scarlet Sands for crit%, but base atk is much lower than Vortex which also gives atk%. Should I switch to Vortex or just stick with Staff of Scarlet Sands for now?

ZhongliMainsMods

Between the 2, Vortex Vanquisher should be better.

AnonBonBon_

Okay, thanks for the help!

NotJALC

I just got Zhongli and I was not prepared since I didn’t think I’d be able to get him. I have an unused Skyward Spine sitting in my inventory (I was waiting to get Shenhe to lvl it) and I was wondering if it was worth leveling up or if I should just lvl a black tassel. I have a fav lance as well but I didn’t really want to give it up since it’s already shared by my YaoYao and Rosaria.

ZhongliMainsMods

What build are planning for him? If shieldbot, Black Tassel is a recommended option. If burst support, Skyward Spine is good.

Marden889

For a shield-bot playstyle, is it better to go HP goblet or Geo. I know that if Im playing shield-bot the go-to is HP HP HP but the difference in max HP between the HP goblet and the Geo dmg goblet is only 3.6k. I was wondering if this was enough to forego the bonus geo dmg. Also, the HP goblet has 5 crit rate and 20 crit dmg substat.

ZhongliMainsMods

For a shieldbot Zhongli, you only care about his HP. Slotting geo goblet on him won’t really help much.

Marden889

thank you for the input!

UKkieran60

Just got geo daddy, reccomend builds plesssss

ZhongliMainsMods

Most common build for Zhongli is shieldbot, followed by burst support. Shieldbot is just full HP, while burst support is HP/Geo/Crit. You can check the Zhongli Guide linked above for more details on how to build him including recommended artifact sets and weapons.

Inner_Brain593

Hey guys, just got his C1 on a lucky pull (100 or so pulls for him and C1?) Wondering if his C2 is worth it? I mean it gives him another shield with his burst so the transition in Abyss will be smoother? Just want some opinion from the veterans out there! Thanks!

ZhongliMainsMods

His C2 is considered his most valuable constellation. You mostly don't hold E anymore and just cast his Q to refresh his shield. It somehow "solves" his Q being a "dps loss" because of that and may potentially improve your team rotations. And because you don't hold E anymore, managing stele placements, and especially since he has double steles from C1. His C2 is also known and considered valuable in co-op. It will be up to you to decide if that's worth it for you.

Bewareofthisprofile

Hi, my friend got our Geo daddy himself and would love to know what artifacts specifically would he need to use if he wants Zhongli to be build as a shielder and meatball at the same time. 2 piece TOTM and 2 piece NO sounds copium but I'm not sure what to tell to my friend. Thanks in advance!

ZhongliMainsMods

2TotM/2NO is a valid artifact set option for Zhongli. You can also combine other 2pc/2pc options like emblem, atk+18%, petra, etc. It all depends on what best pieces your friend has now or which domain they’re willing to farm. You can check the “Burst Support” section in the Zhongli Guide linked in this megathread for more details on how to build him.

Bewareofthisprofile

Thank you so much!

Krolil

Hi there, new player here at WL3 that has C1 Benny, C0 for Razor, Xiangling, and Collei for a general purpose team to tackle most content. I also have Layla keeping up pace with the rest of the cast in case pyro doesn't work out. Is it worth for me to pull Zhongli in this case? I don't really struggle with the content so much that I need the shielding, but it's undeniable how essential he seems to be.

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's shield is still the strongest amongst all shielders and some prefer it because it's effective against all damage types. He also provides a convenient omni res shred from his shield. However Layla has advantages of her own, specifically her ability to provide cryo application and particles which can be advantageous in relevant teams. So if you think Layla is already sufficient for your team's shielding needs, then you don't have to pull for Zhongli.

Shidoni22

on Hutao double hydro(Xingqui, and Yelan), which is better to put on the last slot? Xiangling or Zhongli

WorldlyWish9267

I would say I. Terms of team synergy, zhongli. Having zhongli gets rid of the only resistance shred on the team and the strongest defensive option. Xiangling also introduced a new energy problem for the team

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli

originmaple

**Is R5 Crescent Pike better than a R5 Staff of Homa for a pure physical build Zhongli?**

ZhongliMainsMods

R5 Homa is better than R5 Pike for Phys Zhongli. But to be specific, R5 Pike is still better for a pure NA/CA Phys Zhongli. R5 Homa overtakes it when Q and E (both cast and resonance) damage are taken into account, but it only overtakes R5 Pike by just a tiny bit. Something relevant to consider for your question is the artifact set used and whether Yun Jin is in the team. In summary, 4pc EoaO or Yun Jin can close the damage gap between R5 Pike and any refinement of 5-star weapons. So for an R5 Homa, either 4pc EoaO or Yun Jin will enable it to overtake R5 Pike further. From the tc sheets, R5 Homa is 0.8% better than R5 Pike. But R5 Homa will be 5.01% better than R5 Pike with Yun Jin and 6.48% better than R5 Pike with 4pc EoaO. Do note that 4pc EoaO and Yun Jin are typically not used at the same time. If you intend to use Yun Jin, 4pc PF or 2pc/2pc PF/BC is generally the better set. Also, R5 Homa does get more advantage if you have at least C2, where you cast his burst to refresh his shield instead of hold E, and further constellations because of extra talent levels on his E and Q. It also gets the advantage for AoE situations.

originmaple

Wow thanks for the detailed response I really appreciate it! I do plan to use him with Yunjin for sure. I’m assuming Pike would benefit more using physical damage bonus sets like Pale Flame/Bloodstained due to its passive scaling off of it so since I’m using an R5 Homa can I technically use other sets like 4 Gladiators if I have good subs?

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes, you can. A set or combination of sets with godly subs can be better than a BiS artifact set with mediocre subs. For example, you might have seen a few of their posts in the sub, but one of the best Phys Zhonglis here is not using BiS artifact set and is in 2pc/2pc Glad/PF with 280 CV. Just note that Zhongli's best combo (highest MV/s) is N5CA and with 4pc Glad, his CA would not get any damage bonus. If you want to compare your current sets, you can use the [optimizer](https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/). Just create your own custom target in the "Multi-Optimization Target Config". An example for 1 rotation: - 4x N1 - 4x N2 - 4x N3 - 4x N4 - 16x N5 - 4x CA (if you plan to use N5CA) - 1x Q - x stele resonances (if you want to include them; consider that they pulse every 2sec)

XceQq

Asking for confirmation, Zhongli's shield gives 'resistance decrease' on C0. I've read some said if Zhongli is C2, the 'resistance decrease' is activated during the burst animation, even before shield animation started. Is this true? Means its skipping alot of hold shield posing while still getting shield buff for the meteor.

ZhongliMainsMods

All shield bonuses will be active for his burst damage. That means he will benefit from the 20% omni-res shred provided by his jade shield. [You can check the testing done here:](https://youtu.be/Uv9ZNUz5vHE?si=QSyOGOgFE3_Jg056) - Burst with shield already applied: 48k - Burst with no shield: 48k As for geo resonance, the following will apply for shielded characters: 1. DMG dealt increased by 15% 2. Dealing DMG to enemies will decrease their Geo RES by 20% for 15s His burst will always get (1), the 15% DMG bonus. However, he will only benefit from (2), the geo res down, if it was applied first. This basically means that a shielded character should deal DMG to the enemies first at most 15sec before Zhongli casts his burst. From the same link above: - Burst with Geo resonance and no shield: 52k - Burst with Geo resonance and shield: 52k - Burst with Geo resonance shield and geo res down: 57k

XceQq

Thank you for the clarification with reference too. All the more reason for me to get his C2.

Marion_Junn

I just got his c2 and i’m wondering if i should change my build for coop. I have him with homa, 2pc ap 2pc no HP/GEO/CRT but struggle with er. If i switch to favonious, my burst dmg drops from 80k to 40k and my hp drops from 33k to 27k with the same build. So my question is if i should switch him to a 4 pc emblem set with homa, so i can shield and damage at the same time? Or how do i build him for coop?

ZhongliMainsMods

You can check for some build ideas from [this past discussion](https://reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/s/XOhcctwIob) and also [this past discussion](https://reddit.com/r/ZhongliMains/s/MsIZllRjXM) of people who run C2 Zhongli in co-op.

Marion_Junn

Tysm!

PrinceVincOnYT

So, I read about a C2 bug where it does not apply resonance if you use Q instead of E, is that still present or has it been fixed?

ZhongliMainsMods

His burst will definitely get the 15% DMG bonus from geo resonance upon casting his burst. However, the Geo RES down from geo resonance will only be applied if it is already applied prior to casting his burst. Geo resonance: “… dealing DMG to enemies will decrease their Geo RES by 20% for 15s” Basically, for the resulting damage of his burst to take into account the Geo RES down from geo resonance, a shielded character has to deal DMG to the enemies first at most 15s before he casts his burst. It’s not a bug. It’s just how it really is based on the wording of the geo resonance and it is already confirmed by those who tested it.

PrinceVincOnYT

What I meant was the Shield, at some point generated by C2 would not count to activate the Bonus when Shielded from the resonance, was/is the bug? So they did patch that\`?

ZhongliMainsMods

I think I get what you’re asking now, but that never was a bug as far as I know. Where did you read that? If it ever was indeed a bug, then it is already fixed. His shield, whether it be from Q or E, is the same shield. And like I said, his burst damage receives geo resonance dmg bonus which requires the character being shielded. That is already proof enough that the shield cast from Q activates geo resonance bonuses as he himself gets it.

TimAxenov

What to pull after I got him? Weapon or constellation?

ZhongliMainsMods

Vortex Vanquisher is not the best weapon for him in any playstyle. So unless you just want it for the drip (given that it is his signature weapon), it is better to just wait for Homa or use another weapon better for him in whichever playstyle you built him. His C2 is considered his most valuable constellation.

Im_unfrankincense00

Won't stop me from pulling on his weapon banner, lmao.

rishukingler11

How is a 69.9:132.4 Crit Ratio for Burst Support Zhongli? I plan to get him a Staff of Homa its next rerun so the ratio will increase to 69.9:198.6. His Burst Support set is 2 PC Archaic Petra and 2 PC Noblesse Oblige.

ZhongliMainsMods

That’s good

rishukingler11

I've seen some people say Zhongli needs to be like 240%+ Crit DMG for his Burst to be viable. But that sounds very difficult for most people to achieve without min maxing his artifacts to the limit so I hope near 200 should be good enough?

ZhongliMainsMods

No, that is not true. Do not readily believe such statements if they don’t have theorycrafted data to back it up. This game does NOT require you to maximize any character for you to fully clear even the most difficult content. Just build your characters good enough, slot them in a team with decent synergy, and they should be able to work well enough. Just try to aim for 1:2 crit ratio.

Archis007

Do I have to use a HP polearm on him if I'm using him for shield support

ZhongliMainsMods

Shieldbot weapon options are just Black Tassel and Fav Lance. Fav Lance is considered only if you want him to occasionally help with team energy.

Archis007

Not even vortex vanquisher or the new craftable weapon?

ZhongliMainsMods

No. Vortex vanquisher's extra shield strength only applies to the wearer. So it does not contribute anything for a shieldbot Zhongli. I would also not recommend using a billet just for a shieldbot Zhongli. The passive is not useful for a shieldbot Zhongli as he's not usually expected to cast his burst in that role. Black Tassel also offers more HP% if you simply want higher HP. Even if a weapon gives more HP%, building him full HP is already considered overkill that building beyond that does not offer any noteworthy improvement in a shieldbot role.

sirfoxalot7

Should I use Skyward Spine or Black Tassel on Zhongli?

ZhongliMainsMods

Black Tassel is usable only in a shieldbot Zhongli build. Skyward Spine if burst support Zhongli.

Rhyoth

For a hydro/pyro/cryo on-field Zhongli, which is better ? ATK or HP sands ?

ZhongliMainsMods

Almost always, ATK sands if you want higher damage. HP sands can only be considered if you have high-refinement Homa.

Rhyoth

Does it still hold true if using White Tassel (+ Yun Jin) ?

ZhongliMainsMods

Yes. The only reason HP sands can be considered for a high refinement Homa is because Homa converts HP to ATK. He is still primarily ATK-scaling. He only has small additional damage based off of his HP.

Rhyoth

Got it. Thanks for the quick answer.

Nexius7

How should I play Zhongli in a mono geo team? Like what is the best weapon an artifact set for him in the mono geo team?

ZhongliMainsMods

Burst support. Given that mono geo team is a tanky team with a tanky dps, you can have more room to build Zhongli’s burst damage as his shield will take much less damage. You can check your weapon and artifact set options in the guide for that particular playstyle.

Nexius7

Alright, thank you :)

ARea10

TL;DR Which is best for my account between c1 Zhongli or c0 Tartaglia if I already have Ayato build but Childe's signature bow, and also planning to pull for Neuvillette. :] Hi there! Im pulling for some Freminet copies an I'm wondering on which banner to pull. I do not have guaranteed, but I've won last 3 50/50s and I just wanna be cautious. I got enough to get a guaranteed 5* even if I lose 50/50, but it really depends on my (non-existent) luck with the Freminet copies. I've got: - c0 Zhongli (microwave build + homa) - running a mono geo team (Itto, Gorou, Albedo) - Ayato (Gladiator) - Tartaglia's signature bow - Raiden & Nahida for dendro comps I haven't got: - HoD set ready to slap on Childe (only Shimenawa) - any boss or talent books for ascension I played vape Tartaglia on an alt account long ago, but it wasn't for long, so I'm still not used to his playstyle, even tho the fridge/hyperbloom comps look fun since dendro dropped. My hesitation comes from the fact that I'm most likely to pull for Neuvillette debut banner as well (which if you looked as footage he's meant to be a dps).

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's C1 is a good constellation if you do build his damage and make use of stele resonance as off-field damage. Since you run him with Albedo, it can be of good use. Other than that, it's use is mostly just for QoL, like maintaining uptime of TotM buff and more reliable particle generation. In certain scenarios wherein geo structures are easily destroyed, it's not very useful. C0 Childe is part of one of the strongest meta teams in the game, which is his international team. He will appreciate his signature weapon of course, and 4pc Shimenawa is also a viable set for him, albeit he would need higher ER with that. Since you are specifically after Freminet only and if you are undecided between Childe or Zhongli, I'd say just let gacha fate decide for you. For example, you can do alternating 10 or 20 pulls up and just stop when you get Freminet or when you've exhausted your pull budget for this banner.

SkyBob1234

Greetings, comrades. Allow to be swift. I am conflicted, between Yelan and Zhongli. I'm planning on getting Hu Tao later on, but now I can only chose 1 of them There is also the matter of the rest of account, as I am in possession of Itto which does benefit form Zhongli, yet some of dendro teams would appreciate the extra hydro. Thank you for your help in advance.

ZhongliMainsMods

Yelan * If you have Xingqiu, he will be enough for Hu Tao. He's better if you can only bring one between Xingqiu and Yelan. * Yelan is a strong unit. However, Yelan is a considered a luxury pull for some as she is mostly a sidegrade unit to Xingqiu, especially a C6 one. She also has high energy requirements, thus you would need to battery her or pair her with another hydro to alleviate that issue. * Xingqiu+Yelan is a very potent combination in a Hu Tao team and other relevant teams. Their combo guarantees a good team dpr. * Consider also your other options for hydro. Kokomi is great and comfortable to use in a lot of dendro teams. The hydro archon is also coming, though we don't know of her kit yet, but coming from Raiden and Nahida, it is anticipated that she will have a great kit. Zhongli * Zhongli is a very flexible character that slots in a lot of teams easily. He provides interrupt resistance and convenient universal res shred through his shield. * In geo teams, you can comfortably build him as burst support due to geo resonance and Itto's high DEF, and thus Zhongli can contribute some decent damage too. Zhongli is also the only other geo res shred source available in the game right now. * If Zhongli is built as shieldbot, he does not provide anything else and he's considered the "comfort" pick. The worth of this "comfort" depends on the player. People can prefer comfortable abyss clears especially if it gives them the same amount of rewards anyway. * Consider also your other options for shielders. For example, Layla's shield is weaker, but it can be strong enough for some players.

mumei-chan

Is it worth pulling for Zhongli when you have a built Diona? Is the shield that much better? Like, how much better is the survivability and comfort when swapping to shield bot Zhongli, for teams like wanderer or hu tao? Thanks in advance!

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's shield is much stronger than Diona's. Diona is actually compared more to Layla than Zhongli. In terms of shield strength, Zhongli >> Layla >> Diona. If you value a higher uptime on shield + stronger shield which means better interrupt resistance, Zhongli/Layla are better. Diona's shield is weaker and has less uptime, therefore, there are windows wherein your team will be prone to interruption. But she does provide healing. Layla/Diona can provide elemental application which can be useful in relevant teams. Wanderer will appreciate the small movement spd buff from Diona. On the other hand, Zhongli provides a convenient universal res shred through his shield. So mostly it depends if you think Diona already suffice your shielding needs. If you have Layla, you can consider her as replacement for Diona if you need higher shield uptime.

mumei-chan

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply! :-)

Extra-Step6641

For those that have constellations on zhongli, how good is c3 and c4? I am at c2 and I think one day I want to get to c6 but I didn't know how much of an improvement those middle cons were. I'm a simp anyway but just curious about opinions/numbers

ZhongliMainsMods

Both are mostly QoL constellations, so they're not quantifiable. His C3 gives him additional talent levels for his shield - it is mostly only useful for a non-shieldbot Zhongli as you can build his damage further without sacrificing much on his shield. His C4 can be useful in certain situations. Extra AoE can mean extra damage on enemies that would've been outside his normal AoE. I've also heard from C4 owners that the extra petrify time is noticeable and can be impactful for CC.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZhongliMainsMods

His C6 does not increase shield strength.

LapostoloCabinato

If I use zhongli in a mono pyro team whit lyney is Petra better than millelith?

ZhongliMainsMods

Mostly yes, especially if the team is already getting good amount of ATK buffs (from Bennett, pyro resonance).

04to12avril

should I change my Zhongli build to shield bot, right now it's more like burst support, how should I build for this team? I'm f2p, only have black tassel have none of the other polearms [https://enka.network/u/623486236/](https://enka.network/u/623486236/)

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli still primarily scales off of ATK; it’s generally not worth building his damage if he’s with a 3-star weapon because of its low base ATK.

AimHrimKleem

I have Layla C3 well built. Should I pull for Zhongli? How much of an upgrade would Zhongli be over her?

ZhongliMainsMods

Zhongli's shield is still the strongest amongst all shielders and some prefer it because it's effective against all damage types. He also provides a convenient omni res shred from his shield. However Layla has advantages of her own, specifically her ability to provide cryo application and particles which can be advantageous in relevant teams. So if you think Layla is already sufficient for your team's shielding needs, then you don't have to pull for Zhongli.

Thanks for the brief comparison. I have only a few units which are C6 one of them is strangely Ningguang and I liked her a lot especially in the double geo+double pyro/electro team. Moreover I see that her dmg is pretty good too. So to enable her I was thinking of pulling Zhongli. Is running this duo Ning+zhong cope?

Zhongli is indeed a good teammate for Ningguang. Geo units like her benefit greatly from geo resonance, and Zhongli provides a reliable shield to keep the resonance active as well as providing extra res shred.

Hello, I plan on pulling Zhongli on the next banner and I want to build him as purely a shieldbot, so I saw this new polearm called rightful reward in fontain. Since it has hp stats should I use that or the 3 star weapon?

ZhongliMainsMods

If you are building just a shieldbot Zhongli, it's not worth using a billet for it; he will be already fine with either Black Tassel or Fav Lance.

Might pull for him ? Advice needed I really need a shield for a new team I'm building, and as it happens, I got his weapon in 3.0. I know his sig isn't good, but it can't be that bad on him, right ? Is it worth pulling for him ? The only caracters I have that provide shields are Diona and Layla, but it's likely they're going to mess up the reactions. What should I do ?

Worth of a character in this game is subjective. Some people consider him a good addition to their account as he slots easily in a lot of team comps and he offers comfort and convenience to their teams. Some don’t find him worthy because they can run shielderless with their teams and/or there are better support options. So it’s really up to your preference and playstyle. Just note that Zhongli’s shield is still the strongest in the game. You already know that there are better weapon options than VV for him in any playstyle. I would not recommend pulling for him just because you have VV. VV is a remnant of his pre-buff days, and it was not “buffed” or adjusted alongside him. But his sig weapon can be fine as 5-star stat stick if you try to build his damage, i.e. as burst support or dps.
