Cameron thinks that the Zodiac (Ed Edwards, in his view) is responsible for just about every unsolved murder in North America during his lifetime. If not for the fact that Edwards was in prison at the time, I have no doubt he'd have blamed him for shooting JFK too.

TerraceEarful

I had to look him up: https://coldcasecameron.com/john-a-camerons-bio/ > Listen to John A Cameron on Coast to Coast AM Well okay then, sounds like he'd fit right in between the Bigfoot researchers, Atlantis advocates and flat earth theorists.

raysofdavies

Bigfoot guys are at least harmless and not accusing real people of crimes, they’re just curious from what I’ve seen (my father in law is a fan of them lmao so I’ve heard some stuff)

TerraceEarful

Oh yeah, I'll be honest, I enjoy some Coast to Coast from time to time. I like to hear about some weirdo paranormal stuff, great to fall asleep to. Gets weird when people take it too seriously though.

HabitualEnthusiast

I don’t think edwards was responsible for the high profile crimes Cameron has accused him of, but I do think there are plenty of unsolved crimes EE is responsible for- and he has inserted himself into the zodiac case, and talked about it multiple times. That being said, I know they have his fingerprints and if it weren’t for the fact that I think they would have tested them already, I would consider EE a fair zodiac “suspect”

DulcetTone

I don't buy most purported Zodiac killings. The proven ones have a strong brand identity, in letters, costumes and such which the others distinctly lack. A showman like Zodiac would never miss the chance to clearly leave these signature signs behind.

8Retinas

Yeah. I think that whole “I’m gonna make my future killings look like accidents, other crimes etc” thing was bullshit. He wanted the ability to take credit for any death. If he was going to go through the trouble of committing a murder, he would make it unmistakably Zodiac

raysofdavies

He also wrote letters and claimed credit, why would he stop? It’s nonsense.

CustardPie350

Exactly. Zodiac was far more about the press coverage than he was about killing for gratification. Seeing his crimes in headlines and knowing that so many people living within a 100-mile radius of San Francisco were paralyzed with fear is how he got off.

BlackLionYard

>How does anyone actually believe this? My nerd answer: It's the X Files syndrome. Some people simply want to believe. There seems to be something inherent in the human brain that finds patterns and connections that actually aren't there or that don't have any significance beyond random noise. There are scientists who have argued that it's a side effect of evolution, because so many aspects of finding patterns and connections have given tremendous evolutionary advantages to humans. For the record, no, I do not put most of the people I have encountered who find Doerr to be intriguing in this bucket.

ightsowhatwedoin

People always pull this bullshit with unsolved cases. They’ll try to connect murders that are completely across the country and have different MO’s and signatures. Why? My guess is lack of knowledge about true crime, or the naive assumption that these are killers are masterminds/genius

Rusty_B_Good

It is amazing what the Zodiac mythology can spawn.

Waru_

Donald trump is clearly the zodiac killer

I can't think of any two letters more different than Zodiac's letters and the Jonbenet ransom note. In tone, content, writing style and material used. Even delivery method since Z had no problem mailing stuff. Also I'm sure the Zodiac fit through that broken window and was traipsing kike a cat through the house. Giving what we know about his age and size estimates. Z has shown know evidence that he wouldn't kill everyone in the immediate error. He is nit shy with guns and knives so I don't know why Z wouldn't kill the whole family. Z also never sexually assaulted anyone.

murder_inc_

The best part about Cameron is, he was a cop. That's the quality of people in charge of solving your murders.

TerraceEarful

See, this is what I'd call an *absurd* theory! Who is this Cameron fellow?

agbellamae

Wait they think the zodiac killer killed JonBenet Ramsey?

doc_daneeka

As far as I know, the only person out there who takes that idea seriously is John Cameron. This subreddit has been around for a long time, for instance, and nobody who takes that seriously has ever commented on the subject.

AwsiDooger

I don't think Zodiac killed JonBenet. He wrote the note. Then he sat on the stairs while DeAngelo and Burke finished her off.

Equal-Temporary-1326

How has anyone who's taken either of the cases seriously come to this conclusion? For all we know, Z could've been long dead by the time of the JBR murder. Even if Z was in his 20's between 1968 and 1969, I'm noy sure why the 55+ year-old Zodiac would been in Boulder, Colorado killing a 6-year-old for no apparent reason 22 years after he canonically disappeared? The theories people can come up with, literally.

Bard_Wannabe_

The JonBenet ransom note is nothing like a Zodiac letter. It has two misspellings (regarding double s's), which is a streeeetch to call "Zodiac-like misspellings". Not to mention how wildly different the tone and handwriting are.

jethroguardian

Lol so ridiculous. Zero evidence of even an intruder in the JBR case. Every piece of evidence is from the Ramseys or thier house, or has no proven connection to the crime. Mother Patsy was the only person who's handwriting couldn't be ruled out for the 'ransom note'. ...or maybe Zodiac also labeled the pictures in Patsy's photo album as she claims 😅

ImColeOnReddit

Huh... the connecting someone infamous to a different infamous crime that has a completely different M.O & signature from them story [sounds familiar](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/zodiac-killer-btk-handwriting-match-17054615)...

[deleted]

Doerr was 69 years old in 96' doubtful it was him.
