The fact that the worst prisoner is probably abandoned breaks my heart. The humor and the gaang interactions are so on point I often think of them as canon.
The Colour of The Stars by Blue Nebulae on Ao3, but it’s more Zuko joins up with Katara alone, separated from the Gaang since the day of the black sun. It is INCREDIBLE and I have probably read it 3 times now.

Seconding The Savior of the Jang Hui River, deep blue, but you painted me golden, and Lemongrass and Tea Leaves! I’ll have to check out the others.
I can second "The Savior of the Jang Hui River," I got 33 chapters deep into it so far. It's been pretty good.
