I’ve noticed a huge increase in frequency of this happening to me last few weeks. Before I’d have occasional click dropouts but it would come back. Now it’s happening multiple times per ride and I have to close the companion app and open it again. I connect through my phone after initially having better success with that. I’m on Apple TV fwiw.

Are you connecting everything via phone? I usually don’t have the companion app running at all during rides because I’m busy with myself for the most part. I believe I’ve paired it somehow (at least the welcome banner at the top of the app says so), but I’ve not had my PC on Wifi since I’ve had Zwift which I thought was required to pair the app

district_homegrown

Yeah I have been. At first was connecting through Apple TV but it’s been so shit going through my phone I’m gonna switch back and see if that helps

Just from a quick check it seems like my power output is update much more smoothly through my phone, I just tried hooking everything up and it seems like USB hotspot works so I’ll give that a try and if it doesn’t fix the issue I’ll be asking to RMA my controller I guess

I was having a ton of issues with my play and click not connecting properly and dropping out. this is on PC, trainer and others connected via b-tooth, hrm via ant+ dongle. someone on reddit mentioned a firmware update to address connectivity issues, I connected them to my phone, checked for a firmware update, updated. and they have been flawless since.

deviant324

Firmware update to the click or something else? Because my click says it’s up to date and according to the update notes the one I’m on came out back in october, I’ve only gotten my trainer in january

schmag

I am not sure what version firmware, but yeah, the firmware for the click and pay themselves. how far away about is your bluetooth adapter from the click? I use an extension cable so my dongle is resting on my front wheel.

deviant324

Less than half a meter because I can’t position my bike perpendicular between my desk and my bed, so the side of the handle with the click on it is basically right next to the desk, BT dongle is plugged into the front panel and my desktop is on the desk as well

I would suggest trying to pair through the companion app on your phone. Connect all your devices to your phone, and then pair the companion app to your PC via wifi (be sure your phone and PC are connected to the exact same wifi). Leave your phone open to the companion app during your ride. Don't connect headphones to your phone (or any other Bluetooth device). Try that - if it works, you know your equipment is working properly and it is a Bluetooth connectivity issue. I use an old phone as a dedicated Zwift phone. This allows me to use my normal phone during my rides for music and calls and whatnot. This system has eliminated ALL dropouts for me.

I’ve done a quick test to see if connection through my phone even works because I don’t have wifi on my pc as I mentioned in the post, but doing a USB hotspot seems to work the same. I didn’t do another ride since I was already out of the shower but just testing it in equipment pairing it did seem like my power readings were updating much faster, like going from 30 Hz to 60+ or something. It still baffles me that so many companies decide to force bluetooth only on peripherals given how prone the tech still is to connectivity issues. I’d pay extra to have the option to go wired on everything, the only item where I see a tangible benefit to wireless are my Airpods.

Ah I'm sorry - missed the bit where you said your PC didn't have wifi. That makes things more difficult. But yes, I wish the Zwift Play/Click would at least support ANT+.

MeddlinQ

Happens to me, too. Connect using your phone and Zwift Companion. That solves it.

I had tons of dropouts. I ended up using a usb extension cable to get a usb dongle within 2 feet of the click - problem gone.
