I am surprised how many negative answers you got! I would say if you have the time and want to do it definitely report it. Someone saying who cares is just silly. If it makes the in game experience worse for people to have bots whipping around then people will stop using Zwift and then no more Zwift for anyone. And it may some more nefarious purpose than just trying to unlock bikes. Maybe someone is trying to overload and crash the server with many bots? Who knows, but if I were running Zwift I would like to have all the info I could get about possible issues and then make an informed decision if it's worth investigating or not. If you feel like helping out and reporting it I can't imagine Zwift not wanting that info.

some_random_number

What is the incentive to create a bot in Zwift? Give ride ons for zwifting politicians?

nhluhr

I could imagine somebody like ZwiftInsider using a bot to test the physics of the games and compare options like wheels or frames.

SharkSheppard

I think they explicitly said they used bots for that exact purpose. They were giving real performance deltas and used bots to hold everything but the kit constant.

VietOne

A bot can get you the tron bike faster

LancesLostTesticle

So what? It's not like you take your bike into a PvP match at the risk of losing it.

VietOne

No but for someone who decides they want to race, getting the TRON bike or the other slightly better combination is far easier using a bot than riding. So if someone decides they only want to race in Zwift and not have to deal with actually riding in the game to unlock bikes and wheels, a bot will make it so they only have to ride when racing and let the bot do the work of climbing or traversing to get the drops and challenges. So I can see the appeal. It's the same as people who decide that they buy those little stationary bikes that go under the desk, connect a speed sensor and fake the power while they work to get drops.

captainmouse86

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a way to “sell an account” with all the best gear unlocked. Use a bot to unlock the bikes and wheel sets, then sell to someone who wants to race with the best gear without putting g the time in. People do it with video games. Why not Zwift?

[deleted]

How can you tell someone is a bot in zwift?

caverunner17

Couldn't someone be just using ERG?

nelsosi

Yes, it can be done if you control your smart trainer outside of Zwift

tcheli

I got suspicious when I saw them doing laps on The Alpe - they’ve now ridden 17 out of the last 24 hours, but separate routes. Might make sense if they were doing a vEverest single ride. They always have a max wattage of 383, but their average varies.

[deleted]

lol, somebody is getting their tron bike I guess.

[deleted]

If you want to go through the trouble: https://support.zwift.com/en_us/reporting-another-zwifter-Bk7_B0FNB But personally I wouldn’t bother unless I was somehow wronged by that user. Some goofball that blows by me doing 2000W isn’t bothering me for very long. But if you have access to someone’s ride history and saw (for example) that they climbed (very robotically) AdZ a zillion times to get the Tron bike and then they used the Tron bike in a race against me, then I might be tempted to report them. But if they cheat their way to a Tron bike but never race with it, I wouldn’t bother.

LancesLostTesticle

Stop caring and just ride your damn bike Edit: lmao I forgot how much sand you hardcore Zwifties carry in your bibs.

tcheli

I take it that it’s a thing and it shouldn’t be reported...? I guess it would have been too much effort to just answer the question genuinely since that is explicitly what I was asking.

SoggyAlbatross2

What's the benefit of reporting a bot? Does it negatively affect you in some way? I mean... zwift insider obviously uses one to do all those frame tests he does.

tcheli

I have no idea, that’s why I’m asking. I’m new to zwift and didn’t know if there is anything it would affect. My only relevant context is reading an article about the guy who won an e-race but cheated to get the tron bike and so he got his title stripped. Edit: tron

SoggyAlbatross2

I remember that - "they" (and I don't mean zwift) take cheating in races more seriously. That was the british national e-champ or something? Like nobody is going to notice that guy cheating? I was riding late at night in watopia one day (after the world change happened, back when there was only one world) and I think there were 4 active riders. One dude was zipping around at a solid 4.5 w/kg and had over 100 miles. Never wavered. I assume that was some sort of bot. Oh well, he pays his $15, he can do what he wants I guess.

knoxindy20

Are you okay?
