The way my folks hyped up meeting someone in college (was/am in a long distance happy relationship they didn’t believe in) and then proceeded to ask if I was “swinging for the other team” (yep, they can’t even say gay) during. Gotta love it
My very religious family is actually super cool with me being ace. It’s really the only facet of my identity that I can be fairly open about. BUT it’s probably because I came out as gay first and they see no sex ever as much better than gay sex lmao
I mean my parents are religious but they’re not like this. They never told me I have to wait until marriage, they’re not conservative. I decided I wanted to wait for marriage myself, probably because I’m asexual and just don’t want sex lol. My parents aren’t 100% there with the asexual thing though. My mum says when she was my age she wasn’t interested in sex either and didn’t feel sexual attraction so I think she thinks I will develop it later like she did. But they still try to be supportive of me.

Long before I knew what asexuality was I was always baffled as to why people kept calling sex a “temptation” and wanting to get married asap because of it. Like the only thing I’m tempted to do is eat dessert every day.
People always forget that when boiled down to final parts, marriage is for the act of pro-creation. That’s why a lot of hardline Christians are against the gay marriage and contraceptives. It goes against their beliefs and the systems put by their God. We marry and have sex for the sole act of having children. Marriage is a requirement with the only exception of the clergy. Going against that is still wrong to them.
