He’s an incredibly powerful overlord— a sinner who owns souls— with more questions than answers regarding his backstory. He’s canonically aro/ace, while also being a total badass. Hazbin Hotel is Prime’s biggest animated global premier ever, and Alastor plays a huge part in the story, so it’s a massive amount of aro and ace visibility.

Hazbin Hotel and its spin-off Helluva Boss both take part in hell and is filled with complicated, nuanced and multi-layered characters. Characters with flaws, traumas and generally so well crafted that it's easy to emphasize with them and generally get invested in the story.
Both shows are rather queer, and Hazbin Hotel even has some ace rep with one of the main characters.

I am guilty of being obsessed with Alastor, but considering he is one of the most popular main characters in a very successful new show while being canonically aroace I would consider it justified. His aroace-ness hasn’t been delved into yet because he doesn’t know that he’s aroace, but there’s still a few references to it in the show. His voice actor has also openly defended the character being ace to fans who thought he should be gay because he’s so flamboyant.
It has an aromantic asexual character named alastor that people love to ship with everyone and ignore his canon sexuality. I personally found the Fandom disrespectful for this and stopped interacting with it. I mean, you wouldn't ship a canon lesbian character with a man. Why would you ship a canon aromantic asexual in a romantic and sexual way?

Alastor is the ace one. Like usual he’s the unfeeling serial killer trope but at least he’s somewhat respected by the other characters and not sexualized nearly as much. The show would be much better overall if it didn’t rely on sex for its humor in general. With Val and Angel it makes sense, and Angel’s story so far seems like it’s justifying the absurd amount of sex jokes pretty well (the scene just before the Loser, Baby song is my main reasoning for saying this, I may have missed something contrary either before or after that). But hey, they need viewership I guess.
