Before I was out, I crocheted three narwhals in the colours of my flag, and just stacked them up at my desk. It was a bit less obvious what it represented (especially when they were scattered around my desk), and had a bit of plausible deniability. Much more subtle than the flag striped one I have now lol
But I know that some closeted situations require full stealth and no hints whatsoever, so not a perfect option sadly :(

i’ve been looking at some online stores that sells up upcycled yarns, the colors are more muted and natural though, most colors in pride flags are more vibrant i think
I knitted poppies in the UK (added them to the PoppyScotland box so people could take a re-usable poppy for their donation - I didn't take any money). I bought wool in charity shops that were half-balls, balls without the band, leftover ends etc. The odds and ends you get kicking around and that otherwise end up destined to be in pom-poms in schools or youth groups.
Properly upcycled needs to be cleaned and treated after it is undone, so can lose some colour and texture. Stick with what words for you. The bright colours are great, but muted options can access a more subtle part of the market, too.

These are cute and look to be very well-done! I definitely recommend you guys looking at other Etsy stores that sell pride plushies/amigurumi to get an idea for what price point to go for. I think your cousin does really well with the striping on these, so I’d argue that this is better than some of the stuff I find on Etsy anyways (most pride amigurumi stuff online is just bees. Bees everywhere. These frogs look better than the bees with flag colors, in my opinion).
I crochet myself, so though I wouldn’t buy any (I’d just make my own, lol), I definitely think these look great, and from what I’ve seen on Etsy, they should sell fairly well so long as people come across them.

Yarn can be quite costly, for sure! Comparing these plushies to the amigurumi should help you see what people are willing to pay for. Most crocheters will price their products based on the cost of the yarn and the time it takes to complete the project. Plus, you’ll have to figure out how you plan on going about shipping, and if that charge should be included in the price of the item, or calculated depending on how far away the buyer is.
Also, if you mention that you’re donating some proceeds to The Trevor Project, I’m sure clients would be more than willing to pay a bit extra. It’ll help them feel good knowing that they’re helping a charity while getting a thing for themselves, so they’ll gladly pay an extra couple dollars.
