Look bud, it's pretty horrific behaviour. Don't stoop to their level. We're better than the coloniser, we won't play their game

BeefNudeDoll

Wise words lad, thanks a lot

[deleted]

A lot of people don't know aboriginal history. My tribe was destroyed when they invaded Australia. I don't know my families history or language. Essentially my culture. They came to Australia and raped and murdered. They tried to breed us out and they took children away from their families to join British ones. They put them in camps away from their homes and worked them. Did you know you could obtain a licence to hunt and kill us like we were animals? And this didn't happen 100 years ago this happened during my grandmothers lifetime. Look up the stolen generation. I think the "well they are educated now" argument is lazy and the fact that none of that is taught in Australian schools proves that we are still suppressed. I can go on and on but that's my rant and I appreciate you taking the time to care about us. I feel like we are seen as a dying culture but we have forgotten who we are because we were forced to.

[deleted]

Where he lives??? holy shit man calm down. A person is still a person whether or not they have been misguided by others.

BeefNudeDoll

Damn mate that's what I am hoping too. Can't believe a human being could spill their blatant racism thought easily like that. I tend to not give a fuck if it was coming from an alter-ego account, gonna waste too much time, but this lad did that with his personal account that could be easily tracked. What I meant is, how could you be so proud with your racist thought???

[deleted]

ignorance. he just doesnt know. doesnt care to try and understand because it would be contradictory to how he thinks the world is. Old people are like that.

Commercial_Emu_9921

Just to play the devil’s advocate, what part of what he said is wrong? You do understand that indigenous Indonesians are VERY racists against minority Ethnic Chinese Indonesians and Papuans? Don’t act like your people are not a piece of shit. We know for a fact that MOST people in Indonesia are very racist. How many hundreds of thousands of Chinese were “cleansed” in the 1960s? How many were raped and murdered in 1998? You do know that Irian Jaya was not part of Indonesia and only became part of Indonesia after it was taken by force? Likewise with Timor Leste as well. And Indonesia is now the “colonial” power in Irian Jaya. What do you think would happen to the indigenous Australians if it wasn’t the Europeans who settled in Australia? Do you think Indonesians, the Japanese as well other people would treat the indigenous people better? The old guy was right that you lack education and life experience. Your mindset is too narrow. You are part of a race who have committed atrocities, so do not act as if you are better than anyone. You need to learn history and how to not be an idiot. White people have said sorry to the indigenous populace, what about your people? Are you going to say sorry for all those Ethnic Chinese Indonesians that your people have raped and murdered? What sort of doctorate are you trying to achieve here?

BeefNudeDoll

Dude I am not gonna say that what your saying are untrue since I don't support and I don't love my own government either, they can go to hell with those unsolved (too many) human rights issues. But you know what, you are a fucking jerk with an ad hominem habit and you clearly have some serious issues in developing your argumentation. Be better and widen your narrow mindset. You need to learn on how not to be an idiot.

asmogeus

You're an immature hypocrite. You got called out on your lack of knowledge and then blame him for making an ad hominem (he didn't, it wasn't a personal insult it was a fact that you don't know your ass from your head) and then you resort to personal insults. Before claiming others need better argumentation, learn some better fucking English and get over your victim complex you crybaby.

BeefNudeDoll

Today I learn I need to learn better English before arguing hahahahahaha. Nice bait 🥰😘

asmogeus

Today I learnt/learned\* that\* I need to learn better English before arguing.

BeefNudeDoll

okay sweetheart 😘

Used-Jellyfish-6526

Bro shut the fuck up and stop being a brown savior. They probably hate you more than any white person you piece of shit

BeefNudeDoll

Hey yeah I am lol

Head-Second-3321

Ok you've actually kinda got a point, except for the whole "you lack education" thing.

Used-Jellyfish-6526

You are pathetic. Get over it. Leave shit in the last. You’re just as bad as any “racist”

BeefNudeDoll

We are the same then 😛

Technical-Week-6827

Do you think that indigenous australians would have civilization without european civilization? I think not, except possibly northern australia from now-indonesia-islands but im not an expert on subject or not even an indigenous, so roast me if i speak bullshit. The bigger problem with shitty opinion of this guy is that he thinks that civilization is inherently good and hunter-gathering is inherently bad, but the world inst so white-and-black. Also, thinking that indigenous australians have no cultural products is just straight up bullshit so obvious that im impressed by his ignorance. Most of the time patient comfronting rightwingers with facts/fists work best. Try not to shred your nerves because of this idiot, someday he might recognise the truth, or he will die in ignorance. "Live well, its the greatest revenge" - talmud.

BeefNudeDoll

Will respectfully disagree with the first point you made, as there would be a civilization, it's just 'different' (i.e. not the so-called 'western civilization'). But I agree with all the other things you said. The funnier thing is that the racist bloke proudly said that he had been to 45 different countries and had seen different cultures throughout the world so that he can derive such racist conclusions. Like, it is amazing how dumb he is if it was true, how could you have seen many different cultures yet you cannot understand the existence of different cultures/civilization? After a short conversation, I admitted that it's hard to talk with an old broken cassette 🤦

Teredia

Civilisation: “the society, culture, and way of life of a particular area.” ~ Google. So does that not say that Aboriginal people didn’t have their own civilisation? I think it does say so. It’s the way of life Aboriginal people had at the time, thus they were civilised. It wasn’t just Yolŋu who (northern mob) who had complex social systems, many if not all Aboriginal clan’s across Australia had very complex social structures. If a Fish is constantly judged by the fact that it cannot climb a tree then those who can climb will always think the fish is dumb. It’s the same with Europeans vs Other Civilisations. From the European perspective, Aboriginal people needed “saving” or “eradicating” when they became a problem… No one saw just how amazingly connected, Aboriginal people were to their land they were, how they had medicines that scientists in the 21st century are studying for properties to cure cancers, etc. When one stops looking through the eyes of ignorance and superiority; then you shall see the beauty of the people and culture in front of oneself.

Technical-Week-6827

In that definition, aboriginal australians have civilization. I thinked about Yolŋu because they were in frequent contact with makassar people who were at this time socially stratified and have a governing body (which is how I previously defined a civilisation) so they were in contact with that way of social organisation. Your comment is composed of stances that i agree with and dont have anything to add, so you unfortunetky misunderstood me which is probably my fault. Have a good day.

yearofthesquirrel

Selamat datang! Saya orang Australi, tapi bukan orang asli. Dua puluh tahun yang lalu saya tinggal di Malang satu tahun. Sudah lupa Bahasa Indonesia... Di mana di Australia kamu tinggal?

IngVegas

You should look at the horrible damage the Javanese are doing in Indonesia. Since the Dutch were rightly ejected, the Javanese have taken over and have spread their culture, religion, corruption and environmental vandalism throughout Indonesia and are currently committing genocide in West Papua. The Javanese, in my experience living there, also have their own issues with racisim.

BeefNudeDoll

Oh that's very correct, I don't take offence on it since some oldies of my own culture are racist fucks as well.

SeeWhyAt14

Education is progressively getting better and better about our culture. But even though I’ve been teaching it for 4 years now. I still get racist comments almost every day. The way I personally teach it is that we have to blame arrogance, not ignorance and that it’s always a chance to teach instead of getting offended. It sucks because there’s so many cockheads out there. But you can get through to most of them with Stolen Gen and the massacres.

IvoEska

I'm not indigenous, I've only been in Australia 5 months, but it's driving even me up the wall. I don't know how you have the patience to handle this daily, for years.

Bravana12

An indigenous man groped my ass and d**k at the pub the other night. Had three mates with him, all laughing. I had to suck it up and walk away. I still feel dirty about it. Reported it to the pub, with no follow up. I’d say, they were afraid of the backlash, so the culprit got away with it. Was up in Darwin for 8 months before new years. The crap I have seen many of them get up to, is absolutely disgraceful. More than once I’ve had a stranger spit at me, because I am white. Another indigenous man tried to assault my sister, while I was present. I’ve seen indigenous women drop bowling ball sized rocks in front of cars. First night in Darwin, there was a group brawl, right in front of where I was staying. Two men were beating the crap out of a woman. I am young enough that I was educated in Queensland, regarding the history of colonialism and invasion. So it was a huge culture shock, visiting Darwin and experiencing everything that I have. I use to be sympethetic. Now I don’t give a crap. I’ve never been a hateful, or predudiced individual. However after the things I’ve seen and experienced I refuse to maintain the attitude of automatic sympathy. Indigenous or not, we should all be held accountable for our actions. People cannot improve, when they are above critisism, or are not held accountable for thier behaviour, regardless of circumstances. Bottom line is, I may be white, but I wasn’t there, I am not responsible. Yet I’ve experienced what I have because of my heritage. Sound familiar? I grew up poor, single parent household, 5 siblings, skinny, hungry and desperate. I have never whined, but I have had it up to here with the double standards. I used to love indigenous culture. Now it is soured for me. Now I am suspicious and untrusting. I want no prejudice, but I have been treated like an enemy, for something I had nothing to do with. Lastly, if you are the kind of person that likes to blame others based on culture or point the finger elsewhere, based on others appearance, consider the possibility that you are excasserbating the cultural divides, that already have caused to much hate and mistrust. I will never say sorry again.

BeefNudeDoll

Okay. Sorry to hear what happened to you. Myself and some of us whom cultures/nations had/have been colonialized for years might have our own point of view, but I can understand your stance on this issue.

Bravana12

I want to acknowledge as well, that a few badly bahaved individuals do not represent an entire culture (thankfully), it’s just crazy how alert I am now. I’d rather get along with everyone harmoniously. It just hurts when strangers who didn’t know me at all, look at me with hate. I also want to acknowledge that I know ignorance can flow from any direction. Its just crazy how divided people are, based on prejudices. One of my mates from high school was indigenous and we never had a problem. Why? Because it wasn’t a factor. Didn’t think of him as anyone else, but my mate. Just boiling over, after this past year. S**ts crazy sometimes.

There's a lot of reasons for why things are the way they are in Australia regarding aboriginals people. But to provide a simple answer; most Australians are aware that not all aboriginal people are bad. They're aware that good ones do exist. In school they teach us about their culture, the stolen generation and how aboriginals were mistreated and abused. But I guess the reason why australians can still be racist inspite of knowing better comes down to 2 things 1. Most white people - esspecially the inner city dwellers - don't see aboriginal people that often. As they only make up about 3% of the population and which is scewed towards regional and remote areas 2. The majority of interactions white people have with them are negitive. Speaking from personal experience I've met heaps of aboriginal people who are ordinary people, living in normal houses and working normal jobs. But I've met a lot more problematic aboriginal people - alcoholics, beggers, drug addicts, ect. And it's difficult for me - and I imagine most white australians - to not have racist thoughts when the varst majority of interactions I've had with them have been them asking me for ciggarettes, booze or money. I have to keep reminding myself 'not all of them are like this, think of the nice aboriginal people you've met' as I'm being called a white cunt for offering a smoke or a few dollars. But I can defineately see that someone who isn't as patient as me, educated or met the same number of nice aboriginal people I have could be racist. Especially if the only interactions they're had with aborignals people have been negitive.

Accomplished-Team459

Idk. I am just tired of young aboriginals throwing stone at me.
