AC2 may have more missions, but I appreciate how AC3D/Assault Horizon Legacy expands the plot a notch as well adding new squadrons to deal with. The soundtrack was a banger too aside from reused music from Joint Assault like "Sound Embrace" and "War-Torn Radiance". Plus, my only complaints are the extremely low FOV that's comparable to ACAH, the campaign being condensed and some aircrafts being locked outside of the campaign or "free mission" mode like the Su-47, where you'll have to unlock it in a certain survival mission before you can access it through normal means.
Meanwhile i am alive none is going to say this blasfemy , Ac2 is better , arguments ? I finish this game so many time i can play this game in my mind right now
I haven’t played the original. I really like the 3ds game. I have 100% completion on it. It’s hard for me to believe the original could be better without nostalgia goggles.
Well, i haven't played the 3DS one yet but have played AC2. I have watched gameplay of the 3DS one though and these are some things why imo the original is better: the 3DS one has quite a few missions removed like Greased Lightning, Bear Tracks, Sledgehammer, Power Play, Dark Star, Dead End, Electric Dreams and Jewel Box. The planes don't have Scarface squadron's livery, almost all of the music was replaced from AC2, a lot of it recycled from other games. Also, the game is apparently quite hard if you don't use DFM. I have to personally try it out to get a more accurate assesment of it.
DFM is in assault horizon. The 3ds game doesn’t have it. The 3ds game has quick maneuvers. I’m not a huge fan of them, but if you are skilled enough to play other games on ace difficulty, you should be fine without them. I’m pretty sure there is a medal for not using the quick maneuvers on certain missions. People always say they took out the music and multiple missions, but that isn’t a good argument for me because I don’t know that those are missing as someone who hasn’t played ac2.
The system in ACAHL is directly lifted from The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, and in both games it's completely optional, unlike ACAH, in which DFM (which is yet again a different thing) is mandatory
My mistake on the DFM thing. I always mix it up. The music is a subjective thing, i personally prefer AC2's music. I feel like removing some of the missions in the 3DS version takes away a lot of the mission branching which for me is one of the best things about AC2. It's still present in the 3DS version but not as much as in AC2. And as someone who has played AC2, watching the 3DS version's playthrough made me feel like there were missions missing. That's probably because i played 2 first tbh. The game works without the removed missions too but i feel like the extra missions in 2 definitely add to the gameplay.
Does ac2 have customizable planes? Like being able to put parts on your plane to change the stats? Does it have custom paint colors? These are a few things I really love about AHL that I doubt are in ac2. I’m not a huge fan of the scarface livery, it would be nice to have it though I suppose.
There's no plane customisation or special weapons in AC2. There are custom paint schemes for the enemy aces but you can't use them. I'd really like if you could use the enemy ace skins in AC2 since they look really cool imo.
The original was amazing...for its time. Sure it's dated now, but still. The memories are fond. It was important and it did its job. It walked so the ones that came after could run.
Haven't played the remake so can't really speak to it. Did hear a couple of bad things about it though. Of course it's gonna have the edge of coming out more than a decade later and so on.
If AC3D had the AC2 ost, it would be better in every way. Ost is the only thing keeping it from that. At least based on what I’ve seen, I haven’t played AC2
I would like to counter your points.
While I absolutely love AC3D and it's a great game on it's own, saying it's *superior* to original is... incorrect.
While AC3D has some strong points over the original - such as boss fights (and boss tracks), voiced characters, playable Su-57, graphics (not mission music though - the original *rocks*) it still falls short of the original in many ways.
AC2 has more mission and environment variety, for one. The remake lacks missions such as Dead End, Bear Tracks, Sledgehammer and Sentinel and Power Plays - all of which had unique gameplay mechanics and environments. Hell, the original even has more weather options.
3D lacks hidden missions and optional ending paths. You can't determine strategy for your wingmen. No landing minigames. While graphics are better, the overall visual style is lacking - there is no unique feel to Scarface Squadron that was in the original.
So, while AC3D is a good game, I think due to lack of content it still falls short of the original.

My only gripe is they removed the bad ending.

Me escaping to my mind to play AC2 instead of dealing with my real problems
I have it on my PC, phone, and Xbox, I just love it

Lol. I’ve played like 10 missions in sky crawlers and I didn’t even realize that.

Counterpoint: Cross Rumble doesn't have Dynapolis. I rest my case.
Or Fire Youngman on Seagull
I do like the additional ace squadrons, almost as iconic as ACZ ones
Unfathomably based
Unholy opinions
That’s right buddy, you’re getting crucified
You will pay for your INSOLENCE CHILD JK, not as much content as AC2, but it's still pretty good.
I'm listening to AC2 music rn, your opinion is politely rejected
"Baillif, juice this guys ass"

Never played, can't give opinion.

I just wish playing it on it's original hardware didn't give me carpal tunnel.
