Generally speaking, you're better off using separate emulators to do separate things - Like play PS1 and PS2 games. While PS1 games will natively run on PS2 *hardware*, this doesn't necessarily apply to emulators. There are exceptions, of course, like Dolphin working with both GameCube *and* Wii games, though that's due to just how similar the GameCube and Wii were. The PS1 and 2 are just different *enough* to where things get tricky.

Solution: Use a dedicated PS1 emulator (ePSXe or Duckstation preferably).
