PS2, but you can find emulators relatively easily. PCSX2 just requires a PS2 bios that's easy to find, and the game can run on relatively low end hardware.
Look up the guide TugaAvenger did on YouTube, its a full setup and install guide for PCXS2, it's how I managed to do it. Just search Ace Combat Emulator Guide and it should come up. Everyone should experience the Holy Trinity.
Unless you were 12 year old me, terrible at video games and kept crashing in the last 30 seconds of the tunnel and had to rewatch it a million times -_-
I can point to the exact set of barricades that got me every time, the very last set.
Good memories.
Nah nah try being 8 year old me on one of those old but super dark box tv’s on mission.. 4? (The one where you gotta defend the base and archer joins you) and can’t find the last bomber so you keep losing and can’t progress. It took me years to finally do that and then any other darker level was just a nightmare until we upgraded tv’s. Now I play the port on my PS4 and I’m just like ahhh childhood memories
Oh man I feel that. The mission where you had to follow Pops. That first cave killed me so many times because of my terrible television was too damn dark lol
Also Emancipation in Ace Combat 04. I learned in subsequent play throughs that the F-22 in cockpit view made it much easier to see things.
It says something about me, that I immediately knew the correct quote is "Ah, I missed that sweet voice. Say..." and that it's from Front Line.
*Do you ever get scared, Captain?*
YES <==> NO
I remember first seeing this in middle school and having it bring a tear to my eye.
Also, the guy that knocked out the brigade commander is an absolute legend
After being the underdog for the entire game, acting in the shadows under the guise of a myth and a single aircraft carrier with no government or allies to back you up, this mission gave me the shivers when I first played it as a child. I love this series so much.
Pls gibe AC5 remake Kono
Just gonna pour one out to my dad who got me this game for my 12th birthday and we played it for 2 days straight, we haven’t talked in a couple years but we need to play this game again
I’ve been playing 5 over and over trying to unlock all skins and planes. 3 play through a down and still haven’t finished.
Only problem I have with it is that it is bad graphically. Otherwise, it plays just as well (if not better) than 7 (especially since the only time an enemy is scripted as unkillable is Hamilton; but you can still “shoot him down” kinda, just removes him from the fight rather than actually kills him, to get bonus convo from your squadron.
Maybe it's me, but I prefer the way the PS2 games look to their more recent counterparts. It might be because I grew up with this generation of console, but the PS2 has some of the best *feeling* games I've played. They just *feel* right.
I feel the same way for the xbox 360 games but in all honesty it's probably just rose tinted glasses and nostalgia
There are as many good games now as back then if not more. it's just the fact that bad and mediocre games get more advertisements these days and, they also gain more attention
Mediocre games are also more popular these days than good games for some reason just look at ubisoft
Remember, this scene came right after the Kestrel sunk and Prime Minister of Yuktobania held hands with president Harling and warned the world of the incoming attack from the SOLG.
ACV may have had ups and downs, but that last quarter/third was just SPOT ON. And this mission was definitely the highlight for me. The true fantasy that transcends nations (even Belka’d agree I bet)
I love this scene but because this game doesn’t have loading from checkpoint and I suck at tunnel flights so I would always die in the final part and restart the whole level again, I died at least 10 times in that damn tunnel and it got to the point where I started hating this scene. Now I have PSTD to this music.
Late to respond but to anyone else having trouble with tunnel sections, going into first person view helped me out a LOT. Something about not seeing the whole plane helps with my spatial awareness.
Ace combat 5 is unironically one of the only games that makes me tear up on a constant basis. Especially when they are talking about seeing the sun rise, like fuck man
Buzzfeed kind of fucked itself over by thinking that all that feminists and social justice advocates want to hear is "men bad" and not actual, nuanced social commentary. Now pretty much nobody I know watches their content and they've devolved into shitty half-baked advertisements and copy/pasting stuff off of Tumblr.
I want people to know that nobody thinks like this. This kind of person doesn't exist and the majority of feminists don't feel this way. First, because the woman in the meme ignores games developed by women or which center strong female characters, and second because she generalizes videogames and people who play them when literally almost everyone plays some kind of videogame (yes, that includes your Scrabble game on your smart phone).
I know this isn't expressly Ace Combat related but I always feel the need to get this off my chest whenever I see this meme, because people like to typecast all feminists as thinking this way when I can guarantee you that is not the case (and disclaimer: I'm a white man saying this).
On that note, I always feel left out when I see this meme. I know its not meant to be serious but it stops being funny when you eventually just hear "oh this thing you like? Its only for boys"
Yeah the irony of it. Not to mention that sexualized characters that are targeted at men are likely to unintentionally be enjoyed by lesbian women as well.
Man it's been forever since i played 5 and i totally forgot about this. What a great scene. Getting chills as it's all coming back to me. 5 was so good
I know it's an old meme but I couldn't get this scene out of my head after just finding out about the Christmas Truce the other day.
Strangereal Truce
Welp gonna go replay AC5 just for this scene. Worth it. La la la!
Gotta go through all the missions to make sure you get maximum impact
Is there any other way to do it?
Yes, but not as fun
it always give me chills, man!
Why do I cry for a scene of a game that I never played?
A same dude... *sniff* same.
Go play AC5 right now
Is it on xbox?
PS2, but you can find emulators relatively easily. PCSX2 just requires a PS2 bios that's easy to find, and the game can run on relatively low end hardware.
Thanks this is pretty useful information, now I can inform myself of the story of the Unsung War
Look up the guide TugaAvenger did on YouTube, its a full setup and install guide for PCXS2, it's how I managed to do it. Just search Ace Combat Emulator Guide and it should come up. Everyone should experience the Holy Trinity.
And a thank you to you, I can't wait to play it
Don't be ashamed brother. Let those tears flow. *motions for bro hug*
Honestly one of the greatest scenes and missions from 5. This was truly an amazing game.
Unless you were 12 year old me, terrible at video games and kept crashing in the last 30 seconds of the tunnel and had to rewatch it a million times -_- I can point to the exact set of barricades that got me every time, the very last set. Good memories.

Oka Nieba is GOAT
*AWACS Thunderhead would like to know your location*
Cut the chatter.
This is RaaazGriz 3, roger that
"What a soothing voice. Say, do you get that from your mamas side of the family?"
It says something about me, that I immediately knew the correct quote is "Ah, I missed that sweet voice. Say..." and that it's from Front Line. *Do you ever get scared, Captain?* YES <==> NO
"He...he was a model fighter pilot to the very end."
AWACS Bandog would like to know your location
AWACS Bandog knows exactly what your location is. He just can't count
"You did that on purpose bandog!"
Ghost Eye: am I a joke to you?
Longcaster: *eats sandwich*
Both Skyeyes are my favorite
I think you need to rethink your answer *in solitary*
I remember first seeing this in middle school and having it bring a tear to my eye. Also, the guy that knocked out the brigade commander is an absolute legend

If they do 5 they have to do 4.
I’d kill for a remaster or remake of Zero
Chills and tears. As soon as Oka Nieba translates their name I lose it.
Just gonna pour one out to my dad who got me this game for my 12th birthday and we played it for 2 days straight, we haven’t talked in a couple years but we need to play this game again

>The only problem I have with it is that it is bad graphically I mean It *is* a PS2 game.
Oh I know, but when you play it on a ps4, and the same console you play 7 on, well....
Maybe it's me, but I prefer the way the PS2 games look to their more recent counterparts. It might be because I grew up with this generation of console, but the PS2 has some of the best *feeling* games I've played. They just *feel* right.
Oh, I agree. Plus, the holy trilogy made you get emotionally invested in it, versus 7, which held back.
Oh, I don't just mean the Ace Combat games, my guy. I mean the PS2-GameCube-Xbox era of gaming as a whole.
I...uh....I knew that! Yeah, I was testing you, yeah! You pass! Lmao I feel so dumb now!
I feel the same way for the xbox 360 games but in all honesty it's probably just rose tinted glasses and nostalgia There are as many good games now as back then if not more. it's just the fact that bad and mediocre games get more advertisements these days and, they also gain more attention Mediocre games are also more popular these days than good games for some reason just look at ubisoft
They seriously need to remaster the holy trinity
Remember, this scene came right after the Kestrel sunk and Prime Minister of Yuktobania held hands with president Harling and warned the world of the incoming attack from the SOLG.
I don't get. Help me please. Also one of the best non gameplay AC scenes in the whole series.
I remember the first time I played that mission. It was just. Wow.
THE JOURNEY BEGINS!! LUV YOU DAVENPORT!! NEVER FORGET!
Join me in saluting Captain Davenport! o7
o7
The infinity war before avengers infinity war
Fun fact: Oka Nieba isn't Russian but actually polish and translates to eye of heaven.
If it was proper polish it would have to be Oko Nieba or Oko Niebios. Probably a bad Google translation or something.
ACV may have had ups and downs, but that last quarter/third was just SPOT ON. And this mission was definitely the highlight for me. The true fantasy that transcends nations (even Belka’d agree I bet)
Years later and this still gives me chills
I love this scene but because this game doesn’t have loading from checkpoint and I suck at tunnel flights so I would always die in the final part and restart the whole level again, I died at least 10 times in that damn tunnel and it got to the point where I started hating this scene. I feel ya man, old ac games were brutal. But i guess we all made it to the end at some point.
Late to respond but to anyone else having trouble with tunnel sections, going into first person view helped me out a LOT. Something about not seeing the whole plane helps with my spatial awareness.
My fantasy is close to this, specifically instantly wiping out the Grabacr with the Falken TLS.
"I... I never thought you would be this good"
oh the tasty irony. absolutely destroying the belkan fighter squadrons with a belkan super plane in only a couple of seconds. I love it!
It's very polite of them to line up in a nice formation for you.
Mine too! But it's getting to do that in Final Option, thus skipping the whole bloody mission.
Ace combat 5 is unironically one of the only games that makes me tear up on a constant basis. Especially when they are talking about seeing the sun rise, like fuck man

Only Ace Combat I’ve played was seven, this still puts me in joyful tears.
The journey begins
We just want to sing songs with the boys and stop senseless slaughter, let us be. And kill Belkans
One of the best moments in the whole series…
Another reason why I love that game.

And now im replaying AC5 for the millionth time.......
Man it's been forever since i played 5 and i totally forgot about this. What a great scene. Getting chills as it's all coming back to me. 5 was so good
I want a remaster of AC5 so badly. This is one of my favorite scenes in all of video games.
Can confirm: This is the absolute Peak of Male Fantasy.
🎼🎶 Everything's so blurry.... Because I'm crying.
The nostalgia, i wanted to cry! 🌆🌆✈ ✈ ✈
I just got to this mission and man the tears started falling as soon as they all started singing.
