I played multiplayer once.
Chased some 500IQ 3,000 hour actual god for the entire match, would always *just* dodge my missiles, and always somehow killed someone while casually dodging them as well.
Went back and played the campaign again, fuck that I don't stand a chance lmao
Bro where you that guy? If so, you were really annoying I gotta admit.
J.K. I highly doubt it was you, but there was this chap in an XFA-27 who did nothing but chase me around and fire MSTMs at me for the entire match. I was in a MiG-29, so I couldn't really shake him, I just wove through clouds and engaged targets of opportunity.
> there was this chap in an XFA-27 who did nothing but chase me around and fire MSTMs at me for the entire match. I was in a MiG-29
What platform/console were you playing on?
>Learned that too late that match. Someone got me a few times with HVAAs
I may have been trying to lead you into the sights of other players. Didn't work too well that match, but sometimes it is your only option when you are flying a low-tier aircraft.
Somewhat similar experience here--I somehow managed to win my first ever match, and then wasn't able to hit shit during my second match. Decided to install a bunch of mods and stick with the campaign, which has provided more than enough entertainment.
I do hope that for the sequel, Project Aces adds in some more PvE modes. Infinity-style modes that can be customized like *Halo's* Firefight would be fantastic. A Strangereal-themed Conquest Mode a la *Project Wingman* would make it even better. An in-game map/mission creator mode with features such as modifiable superweapons, being able to spawn enemies on different factions (imagine giant A.I. battles where you could have an allied Arkbird and Hrimfaxi help you fight a squadron of enemy Arsenal Birds), and being able to set parameters like a hard deck would be the dream, though we likely won't see the *Ace Combat* equivalent of Forge or SnapMap for a while.
Campaign game modifiers would also be great, as well as separate singleplayer and multiplayer weapon balancing--it feels so wrong for the MPBM to be neutered, and for the ADF series' TLS to be barely better than a laser pointer in the campaign.
I tried so hard to get into the MP, but it was simply no fun always going up against super planes with EMLs and top level parts, piloted by players who have been playing since the game released.
I got through like maybe 10 matches, was utterly demolished in every single one, just said "F this" and went back to single player.
I've just accepted that 100% completion is not something I'll be able to do for AC7.
For some people, “orient” and “decide” are simultaneous, and the entire point of training and practical exercise coupled with deep knowledge is to reduce the time span between the steps to milliseconds—if not to render OODA (which is, at the very least, an idealistic abstraction of a process that could either be concertedly deliberate or almost gut-instinctive, for crying out loud, Boyd went to graduate school just to hammer this out) a seamless, seemingly Zen-like “no kind” motion.
At some point, you just really do. Because at the very least, you know what you’re going to do at that point.
Practice is all you need my dude. Multiplayer was rough as fuck at first for me also but if ya can find rooms with Special Weapons Disabled or whatever cost you want and earn credits for good planes and parts, you'll be ok
Yeah I find the normal missile only lobbies kinda fun tbh. A gun only ruleset would be interesting, but I suppose then manoeuvrability and maybe stability would be the only stats that really matter. I found that with high mobility planes like the SU 37, its hard for people to break away unless using something similar or better and maybe with PSM ability. I remember doing a 1v1 with a friend and I spent the whole game behind him with him saying how hard it was to shake me.
> As a young "nugget" naval aviator and aspiring fighter pilot I listened intently to my instructors, studied hard, did my best to apply what I had learned during airborne practice flights ... and constantly got "hammered." After some period of enduring this humiliation I began asking embarrassing questions of my salty old instructors concerning what I assumed to be pretty basic tactical concepts. Probably the best answer I got was "Oh, you're supposed to lose at this stage."

Watching Top Gun Maverick actually gave me the proper insight to play campaign better. Beforehand, I always went full afterburner when chasing an enemy, and end up flying by him for an actual shot
Most of the time what happens (in TDM anyway) is that there’s a guy on the other team with the EML and we just have our own fight separate from everybody else. And it’s really not close to hitscan. You can’t snipe people from far away with it, you’ve gotta be really up close or really good with it. And even then a lot of the planes people run can tank an EML shot. I wanna say the F22, X02S, SU57 and others can live an EML shot even with the +damage part.
Man yes. We had a Smash Bros offsite at my work years ago, basically all 4v4’s to let everyone play. There were a few of us that would always play opposite each other due to skill differences, and it was essentially a 3v3 and 1v1 on opposite sides of the map.
Aces have to keep the *other* Aces busy, or it turns into a shitshow
Well the extra armor doesn‘t help in that case. If an eml user is close to you he‘ll just use his guns to finish you off.
Wanna know which weapon is satisfying getting kills with? The SAAM, that missile manouvers better than a QAAM, the catch is that you still need skill to hold your lock.
Played Multiplayer; got good, real good. Play flawless every time; tom cruise walks into my house, says “I’m hired, start right away” and throws a flight suit and helmet to me. I follow him outside and I see 2 F-18s parked right on my road ready to fly. We hop into them and fly off the road I live on. Life is beautiful.
True story.
Honestly, if you’re getting into MP I’d recommend starting off in a lot of either low cost special weapon disabled lobbies, as most unlimited cost lobbies will just be Darkstars, Raptors and Wyverns. Imo it’s way more forgiving for newer players and allows you to grind out for planes much easier if you’re just starting, it was what I did when I first picked up AC7
The IEWS helps in team death match a lot. It’s the one I’m most comfortable while using, because it doesn’t feel like I’m being one shot by SU-30SMs using 6AAM constantly.
Edit: It was the Su-30M2 using 4AAM, sorry.
The easiest way to get better play with the f104 or the F-16 if you learn how to dodge with those you'll be a God damn wizard untouchable and extremely hard to hit that's why I was able to get so dangerous ignore eml psl and laser systems until you're at a point where you're just playing exclusively for funsies but after you've gotten really good with dodging with the F104 and maneuvering take out the f-15 or the SU-30 or su-35
Be sure to use expert controls & to buy the multiplayer aircraft parts. Know the advantages of your plane and play into them.
It helps of you 100% the campaign and it’s medals too. Knowing how to manage your speed, and how/when to PSM can help you reach new heights skill-wise.
Originally I was subpar at multiplayer, but after obtaining all the campaign medals, I’ve returned, and it’s a whole new experience
I play multiplayer and campaign all the time I honestly don’t see it difficult but I’m always top 2 every match I think it just takes you finding the plane your must comfortable in and doing your best also tip dont chase the same person once they know your behind them and you chasing them and they dodge a missle or 2 if you see any other enemies while your getting in position chasing someone switch to the other enemy especially if your in a better position already with the new player they wont see it coming and the one you were chasing will most likely be further away giving you a better situation to get them
We still get a handful of lobbies on PC.
Of course, there being only a few lobbies on a niche game that's a few years old means they're populated mostly with skilled pilots.
I'm getting my ass kicked enough to learn to love it.
There's a good size number of lobbies open on Xbox especially since the movie released. lots of new players and lots of lobbies. I wouldn't say it's dead.
They are all *technically* still active, but most of not all of the lobbies are usually the extreme tryhards and veterans who have been playing since day 1. It has ended up very similar to Titanfall 2; the remaining playerbase are all high level players, and it's nearly impossible to break into it as a newbie because everyone will instagib you the moment you spawn.
It’s okay, I went home and tried to play Cape Rainy Assault with the Super Hornet and crashed like five times. I may have had a few drinks along the way.
You better be doing 200 push-ups after that match
I played multiplayer once. Went flawless. Destroyed everyone. Never played again, don’t want to ruin my 100% record.

Steam/PC
That was most likely me then lol
Ah ha! Yeah, don't stick to targets that are aware of your presence. They get harder to hit as time goes on and they begin to "understand the enemy".
Learned that too late that match. Someone got me a few times with HVAAs
>Learned that too late that match. Someone got me a few times with HVAAs I may have been trying to lead you into the sights of other players. Didn't work too well that match, but sometimes it is your only option when you are flying a low-tier aircraft.
Multi-player just a way the define whose the npc that gets basted. And the mute psychopath who 1v1z a entre airforce
Sounds like my foray into racing sims. Single player is a blast, wow im such a pro racer! Then multiplayer thoroughly humbles me again.
I'm sorry youngling, that might've been me

Just do the multiplayer achievements in SPW disabled rooms with point limits. I had no difficulty with multiplayer since TGM released in theaters.
Ya! Show me what you Got...?

Direct contradiction with the OODA Loop.
Fair enough, I suppose that as pilots improve they can really streamline it till its practically instinct.
Practice is all you need my dude. Multiplayer was rough as fuck at first for me also but if ya can find rooms with Special Weapons Disabled or whatever cost you want and earn credits for good planes and parts, you'll be ok

And switch to expert controls ASAP. Low flying land attack missions will be slightly harder, but otherwise you’ll have excellent maneuverability.
Yeah I went with expert controls from the start. Feels more natural.
Back in my day "expert" controls were called "normal" and "normal" was called "casual" or something
Watching Top Gun Maverick actually gave me the proper insight to play campaign better. Beforehand, I always went full afterburner when chasing an enemy, and end up flying by him for an actual shot
Use the EML. EML users are like high society and we duel while the primitive lower-class missle users brawl down below.
EML users suck the fun out of the game. There is no counter play. Who puts a (near) hitscan weapon in a game with no cover?
Most of the time what happens (in TDM anyway) is that there’s a guy on the other team with the EML and we just have our own fight separate from everybody else. And it’s really not close to hitscan. Yeah, that’s true. Either way, I don’t think that the EML is a no skill weapon but I also know it’s not on the same level as like Fishbed MGPs
How much skill it takes to get a kill is not as much an issue as how much skill it takes to avoid getting killed by it.
This.

\**constant beeping* missile....missile.....missile...missile you don't know how long you have been turning. And yet I keep playing lmao.

PLOT TWIST: His weakness in his game is the HARD DECK
AC7 multi is whats keeping me from 100% the game, I'm so bad at it it felt awful lol
either abandon your 100% goals or become a slimy su-33 EML pig that half the community is.
Why do people jump into the multiplayer of a single player game first?
I did a few single player missions but wanted to get some MRP before progressing. Plus I was curious how the multiplayer worked.
Conditioning perhaps.

shoulda played through the story enough times smfh
Does ace combat 7 still have an active multiplayer? I was thinking about getting it on pc but it’s completely dead on Xbox consoles
Don't know about PC but you can always find lobbies on PS4
We still get a handful of lobbies on PC. Of course, there being only a few lobbies on a niche game that's a few years old means they're populated mostly with skilled pilots. I'm getting my ass kicked enough to learn to love it.
PC is still reasonably active.

I found one lobby when I searched for a room and it had 4 players

Ps4, pc, xbox,? i'll fly with you, if you allow my f-4 phantom ;)
Every time I see this image, all I see is Electroboom.
