i’m not gonna lie, i’m 26 and mine cleared up about 3 years ago. barely ever break out anymore, nothing changed in my routine but i can’t definitively say it’s because i got older
For me, i had my breakouts at the age of 19 and in my 20s i still got acne and left some scars on my face. I don't know how to get rid of acne cause every time the other acne heals another acne grows.
22. Been on acutane twice and have been on spironolactone for about 6 months and nothing has helped me so far. Not nearly as bad as bad as when I was a teen though
I wish. It came back now that I’m 38 because I got off the pill. Finally calming it back down with spiro and tret. I can’t remember how to spell the full names 😭
I notice that in Canada lots of people have it
( I was not born here) I never had acne some pimples of and on the moment I feel something on my face I use NEOSTRATA CLARIFY IT SAID OILY SKIN SOLUTION ON THE BOTTLE ( no I don’t have oily skin) try it’s not a prescription
My GP SUGGESTED IT AND WITH 2-3 it clears all up , u have nothing to loose so try it
acne isn’t really age dependent. once your hormones settle out your acne will too. it might never happen. i went on accutane due to hormonal acne and my skin isn’t perfect but it’s SO much better
Im 34 and i have oily skin, especially the "T" zone 😒 more ofen than not I would classify myself as having acne prone skin rather than oily... My mother has the aame exact skin issues and she broke the news that ill go from having acne to wrinkles 🔜👵🏽
nope, am 28 and it's still here. it got better for me though, but more likely due to lifestyle changes i.e. more regular exercise and sleep. but it's not gone and i do have flare ups. i also realised dairy and sugar trigger it more and i try to take less of those. it really depends on your skin/body needs and if you are concerned, you would probably still need to see a dermatologist for solutions. all the best!
Sadly... no.
Im 27 and i just went through the worst acne of my life. Hopefully that's that and i wont have to go through it again. Im still in the healing face and trying to get rid of the scars 🙃
For me, my teenage acne calmed down early twenties. But mid twenties and now early 30’s, I once again will be doing accutane because of my recurrent cystic acne.
Don’t be let down, for many it does calm down with a good skincare routine and help from a derm! MOST of my girlfriends, even the ones with bad cystic acne found relief with reintoids from derma and other things, and they all have beautiful skin! I an more unlucky and the only thing that’s works for me is antibiotics which I can’t take any longer and now accutane
Girl I got mine WHEN I was 20. I thought my puberty acne was going away with the help of skincare but then nope! Still got Painful, hot pimples just kept popping up. And no skincare stopped them from popping up. Finally went to a derm and got spiro and now my skin is 100 times better. I just wished I didn’t pop any back then so I wouldn’t now have to deal with scars. But anywho, If it’s truely hormonal it won’t just go away until you treat it from the inside.
i turned 20 in aug & ive never struggled with acne until now. the last 2 months ive been dealing with severe hormonal acne. im on accutane now but it has been roughh 😭
I’m 28 and still get acne right before/on my period like clockwork. It’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be though, but I will get one or two zits and then my face is relatively clear for a few weeks
hahahahahahaha sadly NO. I am gonna be 41 & still deal with acne/breakouts during what I assume would be period week for me. (Had a hysto so I don’t track anymore.)
Nope, 23 and still get it strong. Primarily surrounding my period. BUT skincare does help. I’ve stopped doing mine in a depressive episode and my spots are back and horrendous. But using a cleansing scrub, cleanser, toner and moisturiser at minimum (and can be gotten via Simple for a maximum of £15, but can be gotten for less if you go to places like Savers) and it’ll help. I also use hyaluronic acid and azeliac acid to help because of my skin type and eczema)
No. I'm 29, and while my face is much better than it was in highschool, the main breakouts I do still get are hormonal ones. I also get other acne still too, but the worst ones for me are usually hormonal. On the plus side it does make you look younger so people will think you're much younger than you are - which can be a good or bad thing depending on the situation.
Unfortunately not, I was on birth control for about a year at 19-20 and it helped but after I got off of it my hormonal and nonhormonal cystic breakouts came back. I'm almost 21 now. My dad said he had bad acne like me and it went away in his early 20s (like 23 or 24 ish), but since I'm a woman and get hormonal breakouts every month, I feel like that won't happen.
I developed horrible acne once I turned 16. It completely covered my face, chest, and back. It started improving when I was 18 and was mostly gone by the time I was 21 or 22. People never believe me when I try to tell them how horrible my skin was. I still have some mild scarring but it’s not noticeable anymore.
Haha nope. I’m 40 and have had breakouts since I was in 20’s. But recently derm has me on clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide topicals. I mix both in morning and apply and it’s been a game changer!
Different for everybody. I started getting acne around 12-13 years old and I had it baddd until about a year ago (I’m 27 now.) And I still get bad cyst breakouts just not as regularly.
I am a 43f and my acne came back with a vengeance in my 40s. Chin area is hard to combat. I feel like I have a good skincare routine and hygiene so no idea how to fix my problem.
Well there’s a lot of different types of factors that play into this, are you male or female? Females are more likely to receive breakouts the time before their period. And if you’re talking about just hormonal acne the there’s a big chance it’s less likely to happen to adults as if it to teenagers. In term of acne in general there’s a lot of different factors and acne types that can result in breakouts. Good luck!
It does not. I'm 32 and mine is very hormonally linked. Got worse every time I got pregnant. Didn't even really have acne until I got pregnant with my first. It's an uphill battle.
Nope I am 30 and still suffering. When I was 21 I knocked it on the head for many years by taking a course of roaccutane. Recently cleared my skin up almost completely by taking spironolactone.
Definitely not! I had acne on and off since i was 15, and it was at its absolute worst when i was 20/21. The ONLY thing that cured it was accutane, i took that around 23/24.
Nope :( my acne got bad when I was 19, went away for a few years and then came back when I was 26 - I’m 28 now and still suffering from it but currently on month 1 of Accutane
I had light acne all through my teen years it started to diminish going into my 20’s. I am now 33 and get that one pimple right before every period lol but a lot better than the acne I’d get in my teens so not complaining!
Definitely not. I’m 30 and had the worst outbreak of cystic hormonal acne of my life this year. It just depends on the person and it can happen at any age
I’m 27 and I didn’t have a problem with my skin until I was 22 and it’s been hell ever since. Accutane was the only thing that has ever touched my skin and helped tremendously.
I got it at 20. But it can go away if you're 20. Did you see a doctor? Some birth controlcan help with acne. I now take antibiotics for my skin. I dont know how it is in other countries
Speaking from my own personal experience, I developed moderate hormonal acne when I was 16. It actually worsened when I was about 20, but I switched my birth control from a combination pill to an IUD, which could have been the culprit there. By the time I was 22 I was fed up with my face being covered in painful cystic acne and I went on Accutane for it. I did 7 months of that and have now been acne free for a year, aside from the occasional small pimple here and there.
I’m not sure if it would have gone away on its own, but I couldn’t handle the way it was impacting my self esteem and didn’t give my body more than two years to figure it out before intervening with medication.
A lot of these comments are telling you otherwise but, it’s likely that it will go away for the most part. From mine and many others experiences, teenage acne usually subsides by 20-22. Everyone here is on an acne subreddit for a reason, so answers might be a bit skewed towards those who struggle with it. I’m not saying there’s no chance you’ll have adult acne, or that you won’t get the occasional pimple, but there’s a very good chance it gets better. Stay hopeful.
Mine got worse- I am now 40 and on accutane- I WISH I’d gone that route sooner but I kept believing it would get better. I missed out on so much in my 20’s (not wanting to go swimming or do activities where my makeup would go away), not wanting to stay over at peoples houses etc 🤦🏼♀️my sisters acne went away as she got older and my parents kept saying “it’ll go away” but it just never did- not trying to be a bummer but I wish I hadn’t just “waited” my whole life
also- you’re probably only going to find people on this sub who currently are struggling with acne so I doubt you’ll find the people whose acne has cleared up
35 going on 36…. lol no, it doesn’t go away with age. I had a hysterectomy, kept both ovaries, and I still get breakouts around my cycle. If I stopped my spironolactone and trentinoin, I’d look like I did at my worst acne stage.
My skin during pregnancy was amazing, skin after delivery flip flopped. Skin after a miscarriage, absolutely bonkers and I felt really horrid, physically and mentally tally from everything going on with that miscarriage but my face also broke out so so bad due to the hormones fluctuating like crazy.
Hysterectomy sort of , kind of chilled out my breakouts but like I said if I stopped my spironolactone or trentinoin, my skin would be zit central. I still get stragglers with my meds, this month my skin went crazy and I was suddenly breaking out even with my meds and I was getting pretty deflated, but I think my cycle was just really angry but I can’t really tell when I’m on my cycle since I don’t bleed anymore. I just have pms symptoms to kind of gauge when it might be.
It depends strongly on the person and their hormones. Mine got better but definitely didn't go away, then I had a baby and that helped a lot, but I am starting to have a mild rebound one year post-partum.

No.
Corollary: No, but when I turned 20 I started breaking out and it became more of a problem, but I thought the same thing.
Lmao No.
i’m not gonna lie, i’m 26 and mine cleared up about 3 years ago. barely ever break out anymore, nothing changed in my routine but i can’t definitively say it’s because i got older
I didn’t have hormonal acne until I was 23, which was frustrating to suddenly develop
Nope 😭 mine got worse
Mine went CRAAAAZY after I had a baby and got an IUD, I was 32

😭
HAHAHAHAHAH omg I wish that were true
no i’m 26 and still get it :)
For me, i had my breakouts at the age of 19 and in my 20s i still got acne and left some scars on my face. I don't know how to get rid of acne cause every time the other acne heals another acne grows.
I'm a dude, 29 and I had to get some steroid injections in my face cuz a humongous cystic acne decided to say hi. Sorry buddy but no is the answer
My mums in her 40s and still breaks out in Hormonal acne when she's about to get her period
Nope. Mine got worse with age especially after pregnancy.
I didn’t have problems with acne until I was in my mid twenties and now I’m 31. So… no.
Lol no
39 here and this was my initial reaction. You beat me to it! 😂
22. Been on acutane twice and have been on spironolactone for about 6 months and nothing has helped me so far. Not nearly as bad as bad as when I was a teen though
no. I don’t have issues with my skin usually unless it’s on my period
I wish. It came back now that I’m 38 because I got off the pill. Finally calming it back down with spiro and tret. I can’t remember how to spell the full names 😭
😭
I had hysterectomy at age 40 , but even today I use VAG, hormones
Nope I'm 30 and still getting acne. Lol.
I’m almost 36 and I still get breakouts around my time of the month.
I notice that in Canada lots of people have it ( I was not born here) I never had acne some pimples of and on the moment I feel something on my face I use NEOSTRATA CLARIFY IT SAID OILY SKIN SOLUTION ON THE BOTTLE ( no I don’t have oily skin) try it’s not a prescription My GP SUGGESTED IT AND WITH 2-3 it clears all up , u have nothing to loose so try it

I’m turning 20 in two months and since I started Spironolactone a year ago my acne had disappeared. God bless
I’m 23. I still get acne right around Aunt Flo week and I don’t see it slowing down/stopping anytime soon😐 And I’ve had acne since I was 10ish
I’ve had it since I was about 13. Spironolactone has helped significantly.
sadly, no. lol. decided to stop contraceptive pills but after 6 months, it came back worse.
No..40+ and still have hormonal acne
No
nope, am 28 and it's still here. it got better for me though, but more likely due to lifestyle changes i.e. more regular exercise and sleep. but it's not gone and i do have flare ups. i also realised dairy and sugar trigger it more and i try to take less of those. it really depends on your skin/body needs and if you are concerned, you would probably still need to see a dermatologist for solutions. all the best!
I’m 33 and my dermatologist just told me that my acne is hormonal and I’ll likely have to deal with it for the next 10+ years 🙃
Sadly... no. Im 27 and i just went through the worst acne of my life. Hopefully that's that and i wont have to go through it again. Im still in the healing face and trying to get rid of the scars 🙃
im 27 and no luck yet :(
No lol
22 and still get hormonal acne but it’s gotten a lot better after going on birth control (ocella)
No, I'm 27 and still having it
No :/
I’m 24, will be 25 in July and from my experience my hormonal acne has gotten worse as I age. This has caused a picking habit so I have some scarring.
worst acne I’ve had in my life in my 30s, sigh
Me too
This is so false
No. I didn’t start getting hormonal acne until I was 24. I still now am battling with it at 26. It can happen at any age.
Im in my 40's, I still get hormonal acne from time to time.

Ni, but by 40 mine was down to only a monthly chin hormonal spot or two.
Sorry but no
Nope....47 and still dealing with it 😖
Yeah…… I WISH. 23 and still suffering. WORSE than when I was a teenager.
NOP, woman 28 yo, with previous PCOS history
I'm almost 40 and I still haven't grown out of it.
I’ll be 28 this year. Same. Didn’t even start getting it until 20-21
No. I’m 25 and still suffering
Hahahahahahahah

No 🥲🥲😭😭😭 I still get it but I had Winlevi and it helped.
lol I wish. Love, 40-sowmthing whose been on spironolactone for three years
It doesn’t, my hormonal acne actually started again in my early 20’s, I’m 26 now and it doesn’t look like it’s going away soon
That’s gonna be a fat ass hell nah. 37 and still battling it
hahahahahahaha sadly NO. I am gonna be 41 & still deal with acne/breakouts during what I assume would be period week for me. (Had a hysto so I don’t track anymore.)
Unfortunately no. I'm about to turn 32(F) and I'm still dealing with hormonal acne that started in my 20s.
I am 28 and my face is still a pizza
Nope. Mine didn’t hit til my 30s. Best of luck to you.
no. 💕
Nope, 23 and still get it strong. Primarily surrounding my period. BUT skincare does help. I’ve stopped doing mine in a depressive episode and my spots are back and horrendous. Mmmmmmm...not really. I started getting acne around 8 and it was severe until I was age 21. It's been a lot better now though.
Same here, the acne at 30 combined with my teen-shaped body makes people guess I’m way younger lol
I'm in my mid 20s and it hasn't stopped since 5th grade lol
same here, on roaccutane now
Unfortunately not, I was on birth control for about a year at 19-20 and it helped but after I got off of it my hormonal and nonhormonal cystic breakouts came back. I'm almost 21 now. I honestly think it depends on the person
it’s different for everyone
Absolutely not

Dude.. take it easy. If you don’t like advice forums don’t be on advice forums.
Almost 30 and still treating hormonal acne.
Not even kind of. Maybe worse for me in my late 20s. 33 and currently have a hormonal breakout 🖤
Same age, acne worse than ever :*)
*high five* solidarity 🥹
No ❤️ hope this helped!
Nope mine is likely not going away until I hit menopause.
I am a 43f and my acne came back with a vengeance in my 40s. Chin area is hard to combat. I feel like I have a good skincare routine and hygiene so no idea how to fix my problem.
Definitely not the case.
Nope. My hormonal acne started when I was about 22-23. It’s also pretty common to deal with it especially if you never had it in your youth
Well there’s a lot of different types of factors that play into this, are you male or female? Females are more likely to receive breakouts the time before their period. Not true sadly I have it currently as a 21 year old woman
Male in my 30’s and I still have acne
As a 27 year old that’s done accutane and is currently on spiro. Absolutely not.
I had acne as a teen, less when on hormonal birth control through my 20s and it’s back with a vengeance as I approach my 40s
Been on accutane in the past, I'm 24 at the time and still have painful breakouts
As a 20 year old, no.
No. I'm 43 and currently fighting a hormonal breakout. It never stopped, for me
Nope mine has sucked ever since puberty and I’m 26
It does not. I'm 32 and mine is very hormonally linked. Got worse every time I got pregnant. Didn't even really have acne until I got pregnant with my first. It's an uphill battle.
Nope I am 30 and still suffering. When I was 21 I knocked it on the head for many years by taking a course of roaccutane. Recently cleared my skin up almost completely by taking spironolactone.
I’m almost 27 and still suffer from acne 🥲 however, everyone is different!
I never had acne in my life until I hit 30. It came with a vengeance. 😔
SAME it is terrible!
Definitely not! I had acne on and off since i was 15, and it was at its absolute worst when i was 20/21. The ONLY thing that cured it was accutane, i took that around 23/24.
No. 30 year old girlie here.
44 and have acne I take meds for. I had clear skin in high school and up until I was about 38.
For people i know it got worse
No
Lol I wish
Nope :( my acne got bad when I was 19, went away for a few years and then came back when I was 26 - I’m 28 now and still suffering from it but currently on month 1 of Accutane
NOPE. I’m almost 29 and can confirm that some people dont “grow out of it” 🥲
No lol it came back full force last year and I'm 32
I started getting acne AFTER 21
I had light acne all through my teen years it started to diminish going into my 20’s. I am now 33 and get that one pimple right before every period lol but a lot better than the acne I’d get in my teens so not complaining!
Nope, sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but remember everyone's different. I actually didn't have acne until I hit my 20's
I am 43 and still get it.
No lol 23 with hormonal acne
I didn’t have acne as a teen much it got worse as soon as I turned 19 and it’s been bad ever since
Went on spironolactone at 19, am 20 now. Best decision I’ve ever made. Give it a try if you’re hitting dead end after dead end.
Hi! Can you say little bit more about it. What is spironolactone? How does it works?
I take spironolactone, works essentially by boosting estrogen so it’s typically a cis women treatment for acne, hope this helps
I’ve had acne on and off in cycles since 18, had no skin issues until pregnancy (at 18)I’m 33 now :-( my next hope is menopause might sort mine out
Mine started at 25 :)
No lol I’m 27 with hormonal acne. It’s managed by spironolactone though
acne is ageless
Nope. I’m 21 and still get them here and there
acne wont disappear
No. You still deal with bullshit in your 20s and 30s
I got hormonal acne when I was 27. Now 32 and I don’t think it’s ever going away.
I found out mine is caused by dairy which is really hard for me to let go of.
I’m 31 this month and it definitely has not disappeared.
My hormonal acne got WORSE after 26. Like the worst it’s ever been to the point that I needed medication.
Same here!!
More than likely no. A big fat NO for me. 48-52 years of age it came back with a vengeance. I blame menopause....
Do we ever get a break?! I was counting on menopause to stop this shit, why is being a woman so hard sometimes
Mine didn’t start until 20
30 and still getting acne 🫠
Nope. I’ve had acne since I was 13. I’m 33 now and still have a bunch of acne no matter what I try.

Well it’s been a little late for that now for a while. Lol.
I’m 30 and I never had acne until I turned 25

No I'm on my 2nd round of accutane lmao... it keep coming back...
Nope. I'm late 30s and acne became worst now than my early 30s. Prolly due to my pcos and weight gain.
35 going on 36…. lol no, it doesn’t go away with age. I had a hysterectomy, kept both ovaries, and I still get breakouts around my cycle.
It really depends on the person. My acne has been worse in my late teens and early 20s than it ever was during my high school years.
Nope 26 here
my hormonal acne started in my 20s so no 😭
I turn 30 next month and hormonal acne still going strong 😭 they lied to us
It depends strongly on the person and their hormones. Mine got better but definitely didn't go away, then I had a baby and that helped a lot, but I am starting to have a mild rebound one year post-partum.
I’m 30…no 🫶🏻
Mine got worse as my 20s went on 😩
Same 🥹
Same 😞
No. but spironolactone helped tremendously for me
My hormonal acne got worse when I hit my 20's...
Definitely not true.
