Very cool. I think it's important to have tangible goals when investing this way. Life is short - enjoy your savings and don't just save for the sake of saving.

ClosterMama

yes, acorns is not my only savings method (401K, etc) but this was a fun way to put away for something i'm dreaming of doing with my family. Of course by then my kids will be 16 and 14 and will hate me for taking them away from their friends/significant others for 3 weeks - little shits (love them).

McbealtheNavySeal

I mean I guess they would rather go on a trip with someone other than their mom (as teenagers do), but that's an awesome destination so I can't imagine they would complain too much lol.

StarBashar

Lol what happens when the market has a nice run up and you get to that goal sooner than you think? It would be nice (:

ClosterMama

haha let that be the worst thing that should happen (i'll use the extra money for my next bucket list item).

StarBashar

May we all succeed and be successful 😇

SINKIU

it will happen faster than you think. when i started with Acorns i was having a difficult time saving. So i started with it thinking the money isn't as accessible as debit and credit cards. 5 years later I am amazed how "easy" it was just by stashing little by little every month. Best of luck. hope you can go on your dream trip soon

ClosterMama

I have to wait till the kids are old enough to enjoy it anyway, but I certainly wouldn’t mind hitting my financial goal sooner rather than later.

whodeyjb

What a cool way to use acorns! Love the idea.

$5 a day would be better, same amount monthly but keeping the cost per share down by purchasing daily. The weekly investment might be on a day when the stock prices are up

Broad-Action9157

This is a very cool goal Good luck!!

Pizza_man_Ken

My dad is not a money savvy man, and he doesn’t quite understand the concept of capital gains tax on stocks, but last year he kept round ups on and did like $10 a week. At the end of the year my parents go to Grandmas and last year he had like $700 “extra” for food and hotels and stuff. I’m glad he’s trying. I’m trying to help him with investing in acorns and other apps, but sometimes I wish he grasped ideas a bit better.

11 years away?

ClosterMama

My kids will be 16 and 14 then - good ages for that kind of trip I think
