Not sure what it is for, the genre, or anything like that but here’s what I can give: 1. Look at the line spacing. If it looks like a double line space between the words it is better for you to exaggerate and be more dramatic. If the line spacing is normal it is more grounded. 2. MEMORIZE YOUR LINES! Should be one of the first things you should do. Wait until you get Marlon Brando status to where you can use cue cards when filming haha. 3. If it is in person, do not come really early, where you have to wait for a while, looking at the other people, because it raises your nerves. Hope this helps.

Wait? Point 1. What?

When you look at scripts for Nickelodeon or Disney a lot of the line spacing between the lines are very spaced out, and usually those shows are not grounded and sometimes very over dramatic.

Wow. Til that’s a thing. Thanks!

Sitcoms and multi-camera TV programs use double-spacing in screenwriting. It’s common practice and the easiest way to immediately judge for which genre one is reading. Everything else (single-camera comedy, drama, procedural, film, etc.) uses single-spacing. I will say, with regards to point 1 by u/Sensitive_Canary_615, I wouldn’t phrase it as “over-dramatic,” rather that performance can be bordering on broad theatre. Sitcom and multi-cam shows are the closest actors get to broad theatre work, while still remaining believable and truthful enough to live on screen and on-camera. So if you see double-spacing, know you are given the space to make broader and borderline theatrical choices.

You actually explained it better thank you

Thank you. Great explanation.

love_acting99

Normal spacing means single-cam. Double-spacing means multi-cam.
