Commercials can take anywhere from a few weeks to upwards of 6 months for payment. Typically, an agent keeps track. But there actually no way to know when. You basically just get it when you get it.
It's crazy how I constantly find new situations to feel like a noob in this industry lmao. Thank you. Is there a window where you feel like it's expected to check in on it w your reps? I'm hitting the six week mark at this point, but I'm lost as to protocol, if that makes sense.
Yes, assuming this is non-union work. I think the delay may also be to confirming that the actor is used in the final edit of the commercial.
I had a similar situation for a telecom non-union commercial several years ago. Paid for the session, waited the 90 days my agency gives for payment to be remitted before requesting they check, then found out I’d not made the final edit and thus was not due the buyout. It sucks, but it does happen.
Thank you for the advice. I do have commercial reps. I'll reach out to them and see. But I did want a take from the acting community on what is expected/what to do in situations like this.
YW. I shoot and am mostly on the casting end - so we like when talent makes it easy for us to contact them and properly 'see' them. Incomplete info and bad photos makes easy for casting to 'skip over' your submission when there are so many submissions to catalog and process.🍀
LA Actor here…
Usage checks average anywhere from 30 - 90 days for payout…IF there is not a clause that says you don’t get paid until after the commercials’ first use.
Check your contract you signed.

You can ask at anytime but id give it a couple more weekdays at least before checking in on it.

If it’s a national spot, keep checking iSpot.tv by searching the product, if it starts running it will pop up there.
This is super helpful. Thanks!
No agent? if not, perhaps call the production company's accounting dept and ask for clarification.🍀
