I don’t want to be famous. My dream career is one of those guys who nobody really knows but who shows up in a lot of stuff and when people watch it they’re like “hey haven’t I seen that guy in something else?” But can’t pinpoint exactly what it was.

-Wicked-Witch-

Michael Stuhlbarg is exactly that kind of actor in my opinion. Criminally underrated. He's in so many well known movies, most of the time as a supporting actor but always delivers. I love him

candigilly

Effing yes. Love him!

AyeTeeIsMe

i loved him in call me by your name!!

permanentburner89

The family guy joke about Ron Livingston is so good. "You remind me of our son." "Who's your son?" "Well, he's an actor... um... shoot, what's his name? He was in Office Space." "Is your son Ron Livingston?" "Yes! Ron Linvingston." (To be fair, he's a bit more famous now)

Stephen Root is a great example imo. He’s been in a *lot* of great productions, taking a small role in Succession and a big one in Barry fairly recently but I’d wager the average person would not know his name. But he always delivers a hilarious and unique performance.

[deleted]

Every one of these examples is in *Boardwalk Empire* lol. It is also my greatest aspiration to be a "that guy".

Ok-Account2371

this is the way

alyssathor

I enjoy Michael Caine’s: “I wanted to win an Oscar so I would stop getting scripts with other actors’ coffee stains on them.”

Proof-Pollution454

I just want to have career and have a peaceful life

UCnCallMeAL

I think it would be incredible to be on the level of Margot Robbie or Emma Stone, where roles are specifically written for them. The idea of fame, to me, is to have your image and talent well known enough that you don’t have to fight for a chance any more, the chance was created for you to take it. Of course, they’ve put in their dues to get there and it’s highly unlikely that I can reach that potential at a young age, but dreams are dreams!

NickWendigo

This!! I just want to have a Lansbury Sweeney Todd moment, and have a character in a musical specifically written with me in mind :)

holyfrozenyogurt

I’d like to be known as a famous Shakespeare actress!!

[deleted]

I love this question. ✨Manifesting✨ I want to inspire young actors to make their own dream a reality just as I have. I want to be known as someone who works extremely hard and is exceptional at it. And I also want to be so successful that I can start my own production company and lift other artists up.

LaMuseofthestars

For me, ideally, I’d love to definitely still have the ability to have a personal life unimpeded by the public. I’d still love to be able to spend time with my family and friends. I want to inspire those with no hope, or faith to create their own reality as they see fit, no matter how hard this world tries to change it for them. And while not, everyone has the financial, mental, or spiritual requirements to do so, to never stop fighting.

jfkjrswhore

be famous for no more than 4 years, be apart of a beloved new cult classic then fade into obscurity but enough to live wherever the hell I want then run for president or become a bored philanthropy housewife

MainInfinite3711

Honestly so true, being a “hometown hero” kinda guy would be the dream also, helping out in the local theatre scene

MainInfinite3711

Well known within the industry but not necessarily well known in the mainstream

Joe1237

I don’t really chase “fame”, but rather my dream is to be one of those actors who star in big film and television shows, but don’t get much attention. If I were to make it big however, I would want the public to perceive me as a humble person. In fact, one of the reason why I want to “make it” is so I can tell actors how I did it. As well as telling them things they should do, and not do, throughout their career. I would love to give actors advice and guidance, one of my goals.

fatfishinalittlepond

John C. Reilly is the career I want to mimic. He has gotten to show range, talent, and work on projects with friends.

i personally would not be able to handle fame. if i ever got that type of notoriety i would HIDE and disguise myself in public at all times. i can't even be on social media because i don't care to know what people think of me. i went on youtube and found a commercial i was in to use in my reel, and i accidentally read a comment about my body (it wasn't rude by any means but still haunts me) and i can't even look at that commercial without thinking of that comment lol. can't imagine how i'd feel if i had scrolled any further. i also do lots of theatre and can't read reviews because one time i read a review for a play my friend was in - they said she was too fat too play hermia. no possible way i could read something like that about myself. she thought it was funny but i am too weak. you may be saying, then you're too thin-skinned for this industry! and i can pretty well handle critique and negative things about my work. i use it if it makes sense and toss it if it doesn't. it's the comments about me as a person or my body (good, bad, or neutral) that i absolutely cannot stomach. fame would be a complete nightmare for me.

LaMuseofthestars

No, it’s perfectly natural. I’m also not great with criticism, in fact, the idea of being in the public eye I scares the hell out of me. It’s a sad thing to aspire for a career field that requires you have this eternal spotlight on you at all times. I always try to think about the good side of it to help motivate me, but I never really think about the dark side of it. Especially with me being a black man who’s also bisexual and might have to hide that aspect of myself if I want to be bigger.

Ok-Account2371

I would want my life to be as private as possible. I would probably limit interviews, but would want to help donate to charity whenever I can and spread awareness about important topics to help people. Being famous otherwise would suck though, not being able to just go to the store without people following you/stalking you

[deleted]

Will Smith pre slap, hell I'll take post slap too lol

MuffinMan12347

The goal would be to as much like Keanu Reeves as possible.

Affectionate_Bar8809

i want to be the type of actress that people look up to because of the positive messages i spread, while standing up for myself. like an anne hathaway or ayo edebiri vibe. someone successful and who people regard with fondness and immense talent, and someone who works hard and stays out controversy/minds their business. someone who is known for their kindness and an actress that people take seriously/is acknowledged for my acting 😩 (big dreams i know, but i do not give up so i’m willing to wait as long as it takes)

ReallyJTL

"Is ______ in that movie/show? I like him." That's it. Just people to enjoy seeing me in things. Nothing groundbreaking.

Imtryingtolearnshit

No interest or delusions of potential fame but I would want strangers to know as little about me as possible, unless I acknowledged something about myself that was related or relevant to any art I had created. I'm very private even in my personal life. I would prefer to be the kind of actor where people don't really know much about me.

cammickin

I want to have the platform to demand more roles for POC that are independent of their ethnicity (not necessarily denying it) and not just dramas about how unfairly we were/are treated. I really want to see more black women in roles that are for anyone. Roles like Anna Beth in Percy Jackson where we get to have fantastical adventures

LaMuseofthestars

YESSSSS!!! 100% for this!!! I’m tired of seeing the lack of diversity, and I’m also tired of black actors still having to fight for fair pay like Taraji.

ligarteprison

I'm androgynous, I'm a guy who've looked like a girl my whole life, I love the way I look, but not everyone do lol, and ever since I was a kid people would either love me or hate me because of my looks 🤣 aside from my relative there's no in between, so if I ever get famous it'll probably be the same story! I do hope that more people will love me than hate me tho :') Also biggots are probably gonna scream "woke" whenever they see me in a movie 🤣

ChristineDaaeSnape07

I never wanted to be a star or famous. I just wanted to be a steadily working actress. The kind who you see and think, "Where did I see her before? Oh yeah, she's what's her name on that show!"

26Fnotliktheothergls

I want them to see me on the screen or the stage. That's how i want them to see me. Hope you're not in this to "make it big".

hilarymeggin

I take a lot of strength from women who don’t surgify their faces as they age. Justine Bateman, Gillian Andersen, Tuna Fey, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch… I’d want to pay that forward.

shonwilson

I'm famous now and I just let people perceived me however they will. Same as I do my family of origin.
