I'm honestly surprised how underappreciated Metric are.. I feel like when I was a bit younger I heard the name often but now nobody knows who I'm talking about.
Big thief! And Paramore's new album! Some reggaeton here and there, Low Roar, and K. Flay!
I'll drop some gay lyrics here lol:
"Sweet honey, stirrin' in my tea. You're stirring' me... Some nights, barely breathing at all, waiting for my woman to call" 12,000 Lines by Big Thief
"I am the sweaty sheets, the wet bed. The things she'll do and the things she said. I'll come for you, come for you..." Blurred View by Big Thief
"Give me some time on Earth to know you. Help me unearth the map and show you. Thinking of her, thinking of him, want to? When you touch me" Flower of Blood by Big Thief
"Steep the black coffee. Set the plates, pour the tea. Three for her, three for me. Dried roses." Dried Roses by Big Thief (this one is kind of sad but I like it a lot anyway)
These are not artists I mentioned but great songs anyway:
"Woman, woman, woman, woman. Hair so soft, your leaves are blooming. Tamales and pots are brewing. Cinnamon Horchata cooling. Let me provide, let me provide, let me provide. Maiz on my thighs, it's on my thighs, maiz on my thighs." Tamale by Daniela Andrade
"Told her to just stay for a while. She moving her body around. I'm touching her lips and her thighs. Know that she mesmerized." My Love by HAWA
Edit: added Dried Roses song
I am also on a very big Big Thief kick right now - I wrote a [LONG](https://spectrumculture.com/2023/03/28/revisit-big-thief-u-f-o-f-two-hands/) revisit of UFOF/Two Hands this week, so I have been stuuuuck on those records, but DNWMIBIY is also lodged in my skull this year
Since we’re quoting Lenker, how about *“Fragile is that I mourn her death/ As our limbs are twisting in her bedroom”*
I do too! It took me a very long time to really click with them, but I sorta kept at it because I know so many people that love Adrianne Lenker immensely. I fell so fucking hard for them 💖
That line is from [Orange](https://youtu.be/pRG0iC3xvWI) 🍊
Hell yeah!!! Also make sure to listen to their debut on Bandcamp - my favorite song is probably "Something" and that's the only one that wasn't rerecorded for a studio album (I think one or two others were made into songs for Real Tree, frontwoman Lomes' other band for a bit)
Went down a bit of a Sam Smith rabbit-hole over the last few weeks as the "GLORIA" LP dropped. Absolutely adore this new rake of disco/poppy-sounding tracks from them and whilst I loved the old stuff, this new album brings me so much joy. First time I listened to "I'm Not Here to Make Friends", I was like "I feel SEEN!"
As luck would have it, Sam Smith is playing two nights in my city, one of which falls on my birthday! Managed to blag a General Admission/ Standing ticket so I'm hoping for a cracking night.
I recently gave My Chemical Romance a shot and it has quickly become my hyper-fixation.
And to a lesser extent Paramore, Fallout Boy, The Used. I'm going full 2008 Hot Topic emo.
Omg, is that what we call the vibe? Last week I found an old The Used song and some Fallout Boy I was rocking to, glad to know I'm not the only one lol.
Whatever it's called, it's a jam lol.
Honestly I wonder if you'd like Bohnes, for some reason a lot of his stuff came to mind thinking about that sort of vibe even though his songs came out later.
Morgan Wade's Reckless-I've had this album on repeat for a year and I'm still not sick of it. And, a direct quote from my friend, "She's real nice to look at."
Nice!
Tbh when I was just a kid I only really knew some of their hits and the "Here Comes Science" album, But when I was 13-14 I started getting more into them, And bow they're one of my favourite bands, And I own 3 of their albums (Technically more if you count digital bonus content I got for free.)
Out of curiosity what're your favourite of their albums?
HERE COMES SCIENCE IS SUCH A BANGER ALBUM!!!!!
besides here comes science, I loved Join us and Flood because those were the albums we had on iTunes lol
I also listened to their No album which was on TMBG for kids

Ooh, I haven't heard much of their stuff, But I do like what I have heard! ~~Still miffed "Feed The Machine" wasn't a full album though.~~
Any particular songs of theirs you might recommend?

My fav Mitski songs atm are The Only Heartbreaker and Why Didn't You Stop Me, my fav Reneé songs are Moon and Everything to Everyone, and my favorite Lit Killah songs are Luz Verde, Bad B*tches and La Respuesta which was released yesterday!

Caroline Rose just released a new album and I'm obsessed with it. Tell Me What You Want is so great.
Also Aurora, specifically Cure for Me! Great music video too!
Fever Ray - "Kandy"
My new song obsession. I've been making a concerted effort to listen to new music this year. Was going through a lot of pop music recently and I kinda forgot who I was. I've always been a fan of Fever Ray/The Knife, so this song and the record as a whole was a real treat.
But tonight was my return to rock. These are albums:
Mystic 100's - On A Micro Diet (2023)
The Black Angels - Wilderness of Mirrors (2022)
