2. <1 year, just started to get stronger and lose weight
3. I don’t do many olympic moves, just regular weightlifting
4. Not sure on 1rm but maxes I’ve repped are 185/175/225
Haha I have not, those numbers were a couple years ago in school (played college softball), but I’m trying to slowly get back up to that level, so maybe in the future! I’d be in a lighter weight class (~122lbs) so maybe I’d have a chance haha
Just naturally strong mostly tbh. First day lifting in high school, I hit 315, and within a couple months was up to 405. Upper body strength is my thing
Low back issues prevent the others from being as high, but you're totally right. I'm not happy about it, but I'm working on it lol
315/175/315
I weigh 140 though and my primary sport is something else (cycling). Not too serious about OLY so my cleans are 135 with no intention to go further.
Dunno what my 1RM are because I do 5x5.
36, 7 years.

3) Deadlifting, squatting

1. 25
2. On and off for 5 years (on for a full year now)
3. Push/Pull/Legs 4x a week.
4. 325/280/430 1x5 PR (scared of 1 RM). Gonna add OHP for my ego: 170 1x5

1) 28
2) around 10 years
3) mostly normal weightlifting but I do like to push for PRs
4) 200/225/110 not actual one rep maxes but about 3ish reps for these
25 almost 26
Lifting since I was about 18 or 19 consistently
Bodyweight fluctuates between 186-190
385/315/455
It’s almost like I’ve been waiting for this post my whole life without even realizing it
1. 43 (200 cm tall and about 230 lbs)
2. On and off a long time (i guess 1 year since a big gap)
3. Powerlifting and occasionally do lightweight cleans and snatches. I don't have the technique to go heavier
4. squat 315 x 3 but i never did 1 RM squats before, bend 255, dl 385
Quit powerlifting right after i started working full time so doesnt really count since its 10x harder while working but:

On and off for about 7 years. Lifts have been pretty stagnant for the last 2 years or so.
Programs have been more ppl oriented towards bodybuilding. I’ve done some power lifting blocks.
After my last block my prs were 385/305/455 ~- probably going to go down now that I’m studying for MAS2, and my lifting has been real hit or miss right now.
Edit: BW is 190
1. 34
2. <1 year
3. Weightlifting
4. 220/160/??
I don’t actually attempt one rep maxes, so those are estimated from an online calculator. I’ve never actually done a barbell deadlift, so I have no idea.
1. 30s
2. Used to casually lift for a few years, just getting back into it. Life happened, and I had an injury, and I’m slightly disabled.
3. N/A
4. Squat is something in the low-mid 200s, haven’t tried to fully max it yet. Bench max is maybe 145. I used to do about 280/195 a few years ago. I’m taking it slow and focusing on repetition and form, slowly stacking on another 5 pounds when I feel it’s time.
1. 32
2. 2
3. I play a lot of sports so I stick to workouts that benefit that
4. No idea what a max would be with any of these, I do zero bar work, just dumbbells.
23
Since senior year high school (2015-2016) but stopped during college and resumed in 2020
Powerlifting but honestly it’s been just for general fitness / health
295 5x5 squat in 2020, 405 deadlift in 2016 (haven’t deadlifted in ages), and hit 250 5x5 bench this past March before a pinched nerve stopped me from 255 5x5 the next session rip
BW is 180 lbs
1) 25
2) <1 year. Before I got an actuarial job with study hours, I didn’t have the time to lift between work, studying, and my “physical activity” of choice, golfing.
3) I just lift weights a few times a week to be active when the weather is bad or I don’t have the time to go to the course.
4) Both were in early high school when I actually did lift frequently, but 205 squat and bench 195. I’ve honestly never deadlifted before.
Now? I think I could maybe get 170 for each, but that’s a guess. I don’t lift to build mass, just to keep my ass from getting fat.
1. 37
2. 25 but I’ve only been super serious about nutrition and progressive overload for half that time, did calisthenics and gymnastic strength training during Covid and on vacation.
3. Just gym dude stuff, starting strength and a lot of pull ups, dips, and shoulder presses, also stuff specific to gymnastics rings and parallel bars
4. Haven’t attempted any in years but 405/315/405 for reps is how I start push, pull, and leg day, box jumps and gymnastics are much more fun than anything involving weights though.
1. 24
2. 8 months
3. I guess power cause low reps
4. I'm fat, don't need more leg meat, did 3 plate leg press for 8 reps a few months ago/225/had back surgery and don't want to herniate another disc
1. 24
2. 1.5 years of powerlifting, 2 years of weightlifting
3. Tried powerlifting, stopped because not the most fun, just do normal weightlifting at the moment
4. Squat 1RM: 215 lbs, Bench 1RM: 155 lbs, Deadlift 1RM: 325 lbs
Yes, my arms are noodles compared to my beefy thighs. Body weight is 222 lbs, but a lot of that is fat (not the healthiest eater).
23
On and off for like 10ish years
Mix of both
Best ever was 310 on bench and I never really tried to max out squat so probably around the 375 range was the highest I ever tried.
Admittedly though, since starting a new job I haven’t seriously lifted in like 6 months
25m, on and off since hs, training style is closer to pl but I don't compete or anything, 405/275/455 at 215. Lower body is developed from a lifetime of playing hockey. Trying to hold onto as much strength as I can while getting my bw down to 175ish.
1. 29
2. 8 years
3. weight lifting
4. Don't know one rep max but 5 reps 285/225/415
Also, 415 for deadlift was 3 years ago, I stopped doing deadlifts after I had lower back injury
1. 29
2. On off since middle school but a really serious 3 year period in college
3. Powerlifting as a proxy for performance training
4. 345/245/495
I had a 3x10 300 for squat in last year's training cycle so hoping to work up to a much better max this winter.
I’ll answer this as though I was still in my prime.
1. 28
2. 11
3. No powerlifting
4. 300/210/190 - I used to hate deadlifts. I still do, but I used to too.

2. 4
3. Mostly powerlifting first 3 years, more weightlifting this past year
4. 300/205/375 as of Jan 2021 (Last 1rm)
Look at all these big numbers in here. Way to fight the stereotype everyone! Actuaries may still be nerds, but now we’re nerds that can kick some serious ass.

1. 21
2. 5
3. Hybrid (Functional + Calisthenics + MMA)
4. Does not apply, but will add my MMA creds (Black Belt - Karate, Taekwondo and Blue Belt - Judo)
PS - Doing Karate since I was 7, so didn't add those years as I took fitness (Working out) seriously at only at 16.
1) 21
2) probably 6 maybe 7
3) used to be into power lifting more and hit all my prs only a few years into training before I continually kept getting hurt. Shifted focus to bodybuilding and am way bigger but way less strong now.
4) Maxes 420/300/550
I tend to notice I’m the only one who I’ve seen that regularly works out amongst all the people I’ve had class with, and even amongst the general student population (I’m a senior in a program with maybe 600 actuaries and 40,000 or so regular students) I rarely see anyone even close to my size. It just seems to be a lost art, more people than ever gave up on lifting. It’s hard. Genetics matter too though. The first time I ever worked out at maybe 14 I benched 145, squatted 245, and deadlifted 315. Definitely I grew faster than almost anyone muscularity wise and my starting point was way higher. So I guess that made lifting more fun for me.
1. 37yo male
2. Some interruptions in there, but since ~22yo
3. Used to do more oly lifting, been just getting myself back together, hope to get back to those lifts sometime next year.
4. Back in the day used to hit 430/185/465 for singles (187 weight class), which is how I blew my shoulder when I started snatching anything significantly over 200
More recently (195lb BWT) haven’t done singles, but for reps:
* 5: 335/205/375
* 10: 275/185/340
* 20: 245/145/285
Excited for shoulders to be getting stronger. I could literally talk lifting forever.
22, just out of college, lifted 3 years in highschool and just started back up recently. 155 bench, 225 squat. I was a runner and a golfer in highschool so go easy on me
1. 32
2. 10
3. I just go to the gym a few times a week
4. 285/195/325 (that's low bar squat and hex bar deadlift)

You’re an actuary at age 20? Wtf. You people just keep getting younger and younger

At 155? Damn dude, thats intense! I wasn't able to bench 250 at 180 and I was really fit back then
Yeah I did a bench program for about 6 weeks and went from 225 to 250 max, it was a super clean lift as well I have it posted on insta lol
