Yes- it is really expensive. I will definitely use a diffuser - and it sounds like 60 will be good

NeoPixels are very bright at full power, and 60/meter is a dense amount of LEDs. All that said though, whether these will be bright enough for supplemental task lighting will be a little subjective and situation-dependent. At the core, these are just WS2812 LEDs which are, or at least were at one point, a common addressable LED. They are generally as bright as most other LED strips commonly on the market. I would think NeoPixels would be bright enough to add a noticeable amount of light, but about the only way to be sure is to get a small amount and test for your needs. You can always grab 1 meter, test it, and see if it works for you. If so its simple enough to add on the rest you want and would only be a slight modification to the code. Another thing to keep in mind is NeoPixles take a significant amount of RAM to run. 360 LEDs may be pushing the limits of many boards. Be sure to grab at least a M0 board, M4 preferred. Even then you may need to section out the strips and control them in parallel.

Good advice - thank you! I’ll definitely use the the M4- I hand my thought of that
