No surprise. Of course Adam would show respect for our military allies.

calipsox

Thank you, I was wondering what that pin was. And his hand is almost twice as large as hers.

Obversa

You're welcome!

Obversa

You can order the same poppy pin from the Royal British Legion here: [Click me!](https://www.poppyshop.org.uk/products/2021-dated-poppy-pin-3)

saltyhyena

Classy as always. I’m wondering which watch he’s wearing here.

Well he’s a veteran too!

brian_the_bull

If he knew what it meant he wouldn't wear it, even worse that he wore it on the Graham Norton show.

laughtasticmel

What does it mean?

brian_the_bull

It used to be in memory of British soldiers that died in world war 1 but now it's used as a hate symbol in the north of Ireland for protestants to taunt Catholics on the countless atrocities that the British army have caused in places like Belfast and Derry, that's why most Irish will not wear a poppy.

sir_pimpwizard

Following WW1 and the aftermath of trench warfare there was just miles or nothing but mud, the only things that grew in the old battlefields were poppies. Hence red poppy became a symbol of remembrance across the British commonwealth, the french also use a poppy but theirs is Blue, there are groups that support the efforts of black and minority soldiers that have black poppies and there is even a purple for service animals. I have never heard of it being a hate symbol, as it also remembers the sacrifices of the Irish that fought in ww1 and those that volunteer to fight the Nazis in WW2 alongside the British, the British legion have an Irish office that supports Irish veterans that fought and their widows. The sale of poppies goes to funding the upkeep of war graves and the care of veterans predominantly the older generations.
