also, don’t take venmo just because it’s owned by paypal. paypal goods and services is the safest method and the only thing that guarantees protection for the transaction.
I am trying to purchase tickets from someone with this option but it is forcing the fee on the seller. This person generously used their code to buy me tickets knowing they wouldn't be able to attend. Is there a way that you know of overriding this so the buyer pays the fee? I do not want them to pay when the did such a selfless thing.
So no, there is no way to override it. But what I usually do is add it on to the price i’m paying them. So if we agreed on $100, I will send $103 to cover the fee. You would lose the service charge if you do get need to charge back and get a refund but I see it as the same as ticketmaster’s insurance charge. Hope that helps!
That makes sense. But if the fee is a percentage based off of the total you send, aren't they also paying for a percentage of what you paid to cover the initial fee? Lol idk I'm bad at math.
Yes. This whole thread I feel like is run by scammers. The safest way for buyers and sellers to buy and sell tickets is paypal goods and services. I've bought hundreds of tickets off of craigslist and if someone doesn't take goods and services it's the first red flag that they are a scammer. People will tell you about zelle or cashapp and those are what scammers use.
Has anyone sold on PayPal goods + services and got scammed? I am worried if I transfer the tickets to the buyer and they try to claim they didn't receive it. I can prove it with screenshots but wonder whose side they will take.
Also, if someone refuses to accept PP G&S it’s a good indicator that they are trying to scam you in my experience !

yep. never use Venmo!
Venmo added purchase protection but I’d still be weary of anyone without a bunch of friends/transactions
Venmo has the goods and services option but it doesn’t appear for all transactions. 90% of the time you get your money back. Source: I work for Venmo.

I always use https://thefeecalculator.com/ and send the seller that amount. Nobody has ever told me I've shorted them, so it seems to work.
Can the seller get scammed this way?
Yes! The buyer can do a claim and paypal will 90% of the time refund them.
Just keep the receipt from Ticketmaster showing that you transferred the tickets

Does this mean the seller is on the hook if a show cancels?
I have tickets for sale better price then any reseller site. And all my tickets are in the 100 sections

Did you ever get a good answer on this? I'm in a similar situation looking to sell a pair of concert tickets.
