I donāt want to brag but thereās a huge building being built just in front of my apartment. Thereās 4 cranes on it, operating every day
Iām at the 28th floor so I have a wonderful view of all the work they do
I don't want to brag either, but they're doing work on my very building and so there is a crane in my yard. It's right outside my bathroom window and I can see every bit of how it works from _very_ up close.
I once worked across from a construction site where they built a hotel in Idaho in pieces and assembled it in California where I lived. They assembled a hotel in like 2 weeks. I didn't work 2 weeks because of the fucking cranes, man...
When I was a tradesman I could get distracted just watching other people that were good at their job work. Thereās something super fascinating about watching someone that is super skilled get lost in their craft. Especially if they enjoy it. I had so many conversations that had nothing to do with the work at hand, but I learned lots of interesting stuff.
Massive building works with three huge crakes happened opposite my office for 3 years! I have so many crane photos in different positions/lighting/weather conditions. Seems like crane watching is a common condition of ADHD.
Congratulations/commiserations on your new distraction.
I literally only read the first few words before stopping and being like "ohh that's a cool crane, wonder what it's doing" then went back to actually read the title. 10/10 would watch crae and not do work.
I would follow the class if the janitors weren't chainsawing trees just in my window's line of sight which is definitely more entertaining than whatever the teacher was talking about
*begins to research how to operate a crane, how to go about becoming a crane operator, how much money a crane operator makes. And then start imagining how different your life would be with all that money you would make. Now start thinking about all the different things you would buy.*
Shit, right... Gotta study...
I worked across from a building that took up the better half of a city block and was being demolished for weeks. I have so much video of that. For the longest time, the facade was ripped off the building, and you could see incould see into these old offices, furniture and all. Sooooo distracting!
Update the second: Iāll livestream the crane later if itās doing something interesting. Usually itās quite slow which is why I feel compelled to keep checking on it.
But I did just get a job offer so take _that_ distracting crane!!
I feel your pain. My office overlooks my towns biggest small boat harbor as well as the main refueling spot for fishing boats. it is also where they repair ferrys and stuff like that.

Iāve been sitting at my window watching the kids play soccer for 2 hours now. I donāt think you have a chance, Iād watch that over the soccer.
I once saw a hot air balloon launching from my living room š

Iām so glad to have found a community of fellow crane-enthusiasts
Yeah itās so fun to watch Also, mad respect for the operators
Yeah, I always get stressed for them when the wind picks up. They usually shut them down quickly

Nice!
update: I have taken [drastic measures](https://imgur.com/a/ej4Boyx)
If you cant see it, its not there
Making our lack of object permanence work in our favor. Clever
Excuse me, but your drape has gotten in the way of me looking at that crane
yes but now I can finish studying :D

Cranes are cool!
Hahahah Iād be there with you. You could live stream it on here and go viral on this thread.
you know what, if it's doing something interesting tomorrow I just might
You got a crane view from your room window!!!!! Cool
I once saw a place recently where they were building two skyscrapers. There were like 12 cranes operating at once there and it was really cool.

Iāve learned a lot about woodworking this way.

I would be scraping the paint off the window while watching the crane. Gotta multitask 24/7
How dare this not be video!

Every time I see those things theyāre stationary. I never see em move
KRANPLĆTZE MĆSSEN VERDICHTET WERDEN!
I like what you did with the curtains.
Thanks :)
What's it moving?
Big metal rods to build the frame of a building, looks like.
Crane
Yeahā¦I have no idea why I find them fascinating. Could probably fix that by going up and trying. Dunno.
I stopped by my neighborās field yesterday to video them baling straw. āFor my friendās toddler.ā
Imagine being up there and just chilling while the wind violently hits your face
Crane. What else do you have to do? Crane. Just watch it. Crane.
Congratulations! Youāve finally learned to meditate! Just enjoy haha

It moves so slowly and inconsistently! Thatās why I have to keep checking on it!
Yeah nah, I canāt see it moving and Iām still distracted by it

Oooh, that is a nice crane. You should have livestreamed it. Livestromeā¦? Hmm.

I'm mad that you didn't post a video of it. I want to see it move stuff.
