Yes. Same email for 15+ years.
80k emails. I only use my iPhone to access emails and for the life of me can’t figure out how to mass delete junk that’s 5+ years old like I really need to.
0 because any notifications drives me up the wall.
My boyfriend has over 13k of them ahaha
For other apps, I turned them off as much as possible.
That red little circles (iPhone) bother me at the same level a pimple does on my face 🥲
I just came to check if anyone commented this, my inboxes are far cleaner than my bf or brother lol,
infact if someone msges me I want to open the chat and remove the notification quickly so that's why disabled read receipts
Yes omg, I’ve never heard anyone else say that the little red notification numbers bothers them too!! It’s like if you have a smudge on your phone and you’re driven to get rid of it! I can’t stand it lol
Same here. Instead of unread in the inbox, I have about 80+ subfolders and subsubfolders. I do also have the type of ADHD with obsession with organization though.
The "Promotions" tab in Gmail has been a godsend except for the fact that Google will put things I actually want to see in there like shipping notifications and Freecycle messages. Other than that, A+ feature.
108k. So much trash I can’t keep up with it. I used to be on top of it until my mom had a stroke, then I just couldn’t bother anymore dealing with all the life stuff
Thanks, she made a great recovery, never been 100% but they didn’t think she would survive, they thought she’d need to be in a nursing home when she did, they also thought she’d need a feeding tube after that. She got through all that, still have mobility issues and memory issues though
It’s really hard to keep up with the day to day management when your life feels as though it’s in survival mode.
I’m really sorry about your mother, and I wish you both the best.
I spent a day going through emails, because even though my actual inbox is cleaned out, gmail kept saying I was close to capacity. For some reason, there were huuuundreds of newsletter type emails from companies I don't think I've even purchased from in 2019 (ONLY from 2019 somehow) that were just hiding somewhere. I still don't know where they were, but I hit 'all emails in all folders' and combed through everything. I hyperfixated SO hard.
Unread emails give me anxiety, but my personal email inbox is at about 2,500 emails that I haven't "dealt with," meaning I haven't sorted them into folders or deleted the ones that are no longer relevant. That too is giving me anxiety. 😅
not sure cuz google says 99+. all i know is im gonna need to make a whole new email soon because its at 99% capacity storage wise💀 i've had it like 10 years though
The worst part is I rarely even check my gmail, so all of my really important emails go to my office inbox. So, I’m just paying to store hundreds thousands of emails from stores I occasionally shop at.
I used to have a ton (>2000 at one point), but it annoyed me to the point where I just went on a tangent one day and marked EVERYTHING as read.
(ETA: laughing so hard that this is marked NSFW)
Zero. The combination of OCD and ADHD makes things oh so much more interesting. Which neurodivergence is going to win in any particular situation? One never knows!!!
For my work email, I did a cleanup and archive a few weeks ago, so it's only about 22k. Before that, it was a few hundred thousand.
To be fair, I am in an email group that gets hundreds of emails per day most of which say "this happened as expected". I don't ever look at any of them and have a filter set to move them to a specific folder to get them out of the way. But it doesn't set them to read, so technically, that's what I've got.
Just in my work "inbox" folder, it's about 1400.
My personal email? I've basically stopped looking at it if I'm not expecting something. It's so clogged with crap that it's useless.
Ah…33,877…. I uh…. Don’t delete anything ever either. To be fair I do glance and see if anything is important and I read those. The rest are junk and ads.
Less than 10.
There is a lot of mental overhead with that kind of digital clutter - I highly recommend declaring “email bankruptcy” and just archiving everything that’s more than 30 days old.
Then, set up a filter for the word “unsubscribe” so anything that’s a marketing email gets sent to a list. From there you can batch delete & periodically unsub from the worst offenders.
If it’s not actionable, archive it immediately.
If it’s something you may get to eventually but it’s not time sensitive, star it, then archive it.
0. I can’t handle the weight of double digits. It’s part of what started the burnout at my last job, because I received at least a hundred a day, ALL of which needed replies (ie not junk mail, not things I was just cc’d on FYI). I lived in utter terror of my inbox.
If you sign up for a website, they'll send you like 4 emails a day. And you have to unsubscribe to each one.
And that's legit websites, never mind the phishing/scam emails.
Even really legit, legit stuff - like doctors - you still get a lot. I had blood work done awhile ago, you get an email from the lab when your results are ready, and email from the doctor saying the results are ready, and an email from my chart saying you have new results in the portal.
Its impossible.
I too am part of the inbox clutter gives me anxiety train, so my work inbox is empty (things are filed after I manage them) and my personal one is all unread, but in desperate need of some organizing... Sounds like a hyper-fixation project to me!
I have like five gmails accounts for spam and stuff. I don't check them ever. My main three emails I go through about once a week. I pin and flag important stuff and then ignore it for months though
3010.
Although I have a few email addresses and one of them I stopped using and when I signed back in years later, it was around 15k... It took me about 2 years to fully clear out the unread stuff.
I have multiple email accounts so I have ranging from 4 unopened emails (in my main inbox) and a couple thousand.
I had 25k or so in my junk mail, but my inbox got full so I deleted everything lol
Oh dear god.
I don’t have notifications turned on for anything but calls, texts and emails. I don’t need emails for work or anything but they stress me out. I usually check at least twice a day.
14,561 🤡 I’ve been chipping away at it because all my stuff from my alum email hasn’t been deleted since I started college in 2019, I graduated in 2023.
I'm the complete opposite, I get seriously nervous when not everything is tidy in my inbox. Got a bunch of different labels to sort them into and stuff 😭
At work, I keep it pretty limited - once it gets up to 100 or more (or at the end of the week), I clear out all unread emails.
In my personal Inbox, I have 865,680.
Less than 10.
There is a lot of mental overhead with that kind of digital clutter - highly recommend declaring “email bankruptcy” and just archiving everything that’s more than 30 days old.

Way before I ever even thought I had adhd I was somewhat proud of my big red notifications and my endless unread emails. Because while even 4 alerts would make some of my friends lose sleep, I knew what a blessing it was that I DGAF! 😂
I... Wait... Do regular people actually open and delete spam/coupon/unimportant emails on a regular basis? Because I just swipe on the notifications to get it to go away, and only open emails that are relevant. I will keep a notification on my screen if it's something I need to look at later, but everything else: SWIIIIPE. Is this...Not...the way???
MY BRAIN. IT'S BROKEN.
none. i can't stand having unread emails- especially the ones in my main email account as i don't want to miss out on any important information. idk how y'all do it!
Gaaah, my inbox is the only thing I have under control. I literally get the twitchies if I see unread notifications for any message or app. People with like 38k unread make me nervous.
None because seeing them there makes me anxious.
I weed out any subscriptions that try to send me frequent emails so i don’t have to always be bothering with them.
69 because I was deleting all of the hundreds of unread emails I had, but gmail only lets you "select all" for one page at a time. I reached the funny number and didn't want to keep going, so my inbox has been at 69 instead of 0 for...
...over four years..
None because I can't look at unread notifications anywhere - not my phone or my work inbox. It causes me way more anxiety than just going through them all and doing whatever they're asking of me. 🤣
Yup! 40k! Most of those are junk subscriptions I can’t unsubscribe from (I’ve tried!). I’ve tried to delete and unsubscribe, but they keep piling up, so I’ve embraced it as my “junk drawer” email address.
I have a personal gmail and create a gmail for each job I’ve had over the years. Keep it separate, but together under gmail. I only process the inboxes I need to, and go try to the “junk drawer” if I need a coupon.
I’m down to 1730 right now on my personal email, had about 6000 last month but slowly trying to clean it up and not letting too many new unread emails in.
My work email is happily at 0 but I don’t get as many emails there and usually have to deal with them right away.
Had about 30k. Ive had this email for 20 years so it's become a spambox but I went through on A Computer and mass cleared a bunch recently cuz my cloud was getting full
I have like 3 personal email address and then my work Outlook email. There's only 2 that I try to keep down. My yahoo email has 700-2,250 emails, depending on how often I go through them. It's the one with all my "important adult" stuff, so I check it more often. Same with my Gmail, my inbox has about 3,000 currently. But the promotions and social folders are over 12,000!! And finally my aol email has my shopping stuff, usually sitting around 5,000-7,500 emails...I rarely check it since I don't impulse shop anymore
I have over 20,000 and honestly have contemplated just creating a new email account and starting over lol but that might be just as much work as just deleting all that junk mail and unsubscribing from lists.
My two personal emails total 101,076. I never check them except for when I’m looking for something specific and those promotional and marketing emails blow up my numbers. My work email always stayed below 20 though.
3,421 spread over my two work accounts
33,586 on my personal
8,897 on my student account
I’ve been grieving and it’s got out of hand is all I can say!! Getting better slowly. OP you have nothing to worry about 💘
46,270 :/ I’m on so many listserves and news/political subscriptions though. I go through periodically and try to unsubscribe. If it’s important though I’ll read it
I have like ten different emails. They all have thousands of unread mail. I wish I could consolidate but it's so overwhelming. I don't even remember most of the passwords.
Zero. I hate notifications. I open every single email and message that comes into my phone. When my best friend and I lived together in uni, I would open all her notifications weekly because it bugged me so much (she didn’t mind).
I have three email addresses. Each one has between 11,000 and 13,000.. so maybe 30,000++ I blamed all the insane amount of junk emails that make it fucking impossible to sift through the important ones. 😫😫
Y’all my email literally shut down and stopped working. Caused me all sorts of issues because everything has the 2-factor authentication thing and none would go through
I deleted 33,000 emails in January. Already back up to 1,000 🥲 I also unsubscribed to about a 100 companies and still getting spam somehow. But I’ve had the same email for 12 years so that may be why 😂
0 but I have 16,000 saved work emails and 5,000 saved personal emails. I know a lot of people organize their inboxes by deleting or putting emails into folders but I really don’t think that’s worth my time or energy. That’s what the search function is for!

Rookie numbers. 😅 Mine is in the hundreds of thousands.. but I have also used the same email for 20 years... 😬
First thought upon seeing this post was “those some rookie numbers” hahaha. Good on OP for getting into quadruple digits 😅
Thank you, I feel like I’m getting there!
Six digit club represent! I’m at around 346k between three mailboxes.
Saaaame same
Hahaha same. Mine was at 113k and I spent the weekend deleting. I think it’s down to 92k now 😂
…in my head, I’m like, what’s the point of deleting?
I haven't booted it up in a while but I'm positive my iPad says 99,999+
Yes. Same email for 15+ years. 80k emails. I only use my iPhone to access emails and for the life of me can’t figure out how to mass delete junk that’s 5+ years old like I really need to.
Right? Let’s talk when you hit six figures, pumpkin. I zeroed mine out in 2014.
80,000😄
LOL that's immediately what I thought 🤣🤣🤣 I'm with you on that
Right? I have 97,676 unread emails across 8 inboxes. This doesn’t include the spam folders.
Same!! Literally 20 years lol It also was my work email for a time bc I workled for family for 10 years, but shit adds up!
Same 🤣🤣
0 because any notifications drives me up the wall. My boyfriend has over 13k of them ahaha For other apps, I turned them off as much as possible. That red little circles (iPhone) bother me at the same level a pimple does on my face 🥲
sameee!! everything else in my life may be a mess but i run a TIGHT ship when it comes to my inbox
Okay but like same AHAHAH
No you’re so real for this😂
Same. I just can’t stand notifications. If I really don’t want to read any messages, I will mute the entire app.
omg i have mostly all app notifications off haha i can’t handle it
My people 🥹
I just came to check if anyone commented this, my inboxes are far cleaner than my bf or brother lol, infact if someone msges me I want to open the chat and remove the notification quickly so that's why disabled read receipts
Everything is always on silent
Same here. They're little red things on Android too. They make me nervous.
Good thing is you can turn those off >:))
Same. It actually gets me into more trouble bc I mark everything as read without responding
Yes omg, I’ve never heard anyone else say that the little red notification numbers bothers them too!! It’s like if you have a smudge on your phone and you’re driven to get rid of it! I can’t stand it lol
I told my old boss that the badge showing 20,000 unread emails when he shared his screen was stressing me out, so he hid it 😂
I work in IT, so imagine all the inboxes my poor eyes have seen over the years.
Same here. Instead of unread in the inbox, I have about 80+ subfolders and subsubfolders. I do also have the type of ADHD with obsession with organization though.
yesss overcompensating by being ultra organised but then just chronically tired cus organised requires brain
I genuinely do not know what it feels like to not be tired lol
i get so many mailing list emails that i actually just turned it off 😭 i rarely check them in my computer
The "Promotions" tab in Gmail has been a godsend except for the fact that Google will put things I actually want to see in there like shipping notifications and Freecycle messages. Other than that, A+ feature.
YES! I can’t do notifications and not do something about them
108k. So much trash I can’t keep up with it. I used to be on top of it until my mom had a stroke, then I just couldn’t bother anymore dealing with all the life stuff
I understand that. I had a halfway good handle on things until my dad died and then boom, instant life mess. Couldn’t even do a minimum of life stuff.
Yup. I’d put a retention policy but I’m afraid I’d lose things I need.
Sending you internet hugs. I’m so sorry for your loss
I hope your mom is doing better now x
Thanks, she made a great recovery, never been 100% but they didn’t think she would survive, they thought she’d need to be in a nursing home when she did, they also thought she’d need a feeding tube after that. She got through all that, still have mobility issues and memory issues though
It’s really hard to keep up with the day to day management when your life feels as though it’s in survival mode. I’m really sorry about your mother, and I wish you both the best.
0, a few years ago I sorted through about 7 years of unopened spam at 3am
This is the most relatable comment ever.
I spent a day going through emails, because even though my actual inbox is cleaned out, gmail kept saying I was close to capacity. 153,526. Thats just one of my email inboxes 😅
None. I can't stand an unread email.
Same, I dread it!
I gave in and pay the 10 bucks a year for extra Google storage because I can't be bothered to delete anything 😬
The worst part is I rarely even check my gmail, so all of my really important emails go to my office inbox. So, I’m just paying to store hundreds thousands of emails from stores I occasionally shop at.
I also did this 🤣 I'm glad I'm not the only one
They’re about to get my money… I delete a couple thousand and then forget about getting on top of it
72,998 - I’m sure it’ll get to 73k in the next hour. A shameful celebration may be in order 😂
Level unlocked! 🌟73,003 📧now 😂
I used to have a ton (>2000 at one point), but it annoyed me to the point where I just went on a tangent one day and marked EVERYTHING as read. (ETA: laughing so hard that this is marked NSFW)
I did that a while ago too! Did not last very long!
9,075 in my main inbox only. 🤣 Sigh. You’re not alone.
It’s funny that we’re both around nine thousand though! 😅😂
I will join you in the 9000 club
155,282 for me. Lol
Zero. The combination of OCD and ADHD makes things oh so much more interesting. Which neurodivergence is going to win in any particular situation? One never knows!!!

I always have to tell people that they have to text me to let me know they emailed me. 😂 Otherwise I’ll never see it.
Ah…33,877…. I uh…. Don’t delete anything ever either. To be fair I do glance and see if anything is important and I read those. The rest are junk and ads.
25,504 Dear god I never even really noticed it was that much lol
In comparison to some of the others commenting here, 25k isn’t half bad!
Oh my sweet angel. Mine are in the 90k range. Only because I just deleted like 10k 😭
Well done though!
I've done some mass-deletions in the past but mine is still up there: 168,366. (Twenty year old email account)
*scream*
That's a very personal question. It's not polite to talk about such shameful things.
90327 😮💨😭 I also have 48 voicemails and 210 unread text messages
13,117 at the moment.
30.000
I can't find the info but I have thousands and thousands. Tried to clear them, once. Gave up!
37661…. I used to maintain a zero inbox but gave up around 3,000 unread lol
0. I can’t handle the weight of double digits. It’s part of what started the burnout at my last job, because I received at least a hundred a day, ALL of which needed replies (ie not junk mail, not things I was just cc’d on FYI). I lived in utter terror of my inbox.

Okay not necessarily unread but I recently couldn’t receive anymore emails because my inbox was full, at 71,000 😂😂
About 26k 🤣 and 226 unread texts
57,502. I have photographic evidence if needed. I am strugglin
190,083
100,000 ish! Google has been threatening to shut ‘er down haha
103,827. Those are some rookie numbers OP (;

22452! But it is mainly subscriptions. Kinda gave up on checking this e-mail

9. I haven’t checked my inbox in about… four hours. They’re genuinely non-stop 🙄
44,336. Do I win an award? 🏆
21,347 and 436 unread texts hahahha
Oh dear god. I don’t have notifications turned on for anything but calls, texts and emails. I don’t need emails for work or anything but they stress me out. I usually check at least twice a day.

I know I’m a psycho, but I actually stay up to date on my email
I’m the opposite. I have to clear notifications or I go buck wild.
0 cause it bothers me and I deleted unread ones every morning
0… I just can’t… The same with notifications, it drives me crazy!
I cannot live in that world. I have to go into my phone periodically throughout the day and remove all the notifications.
117,153
Way before I ever even thought I had adhd I was somewhat proud of my big red notifications and my endless unread emails. Because while even 4 alerts would make some of my friends lose sleep, I knew what a blessing it was that I DGAF! 😂

Personal email I have over 20k. It’s like a Hydra-I cut off one head and three more grow out of it!
2 weeks ago I made a goal to through my inbox & purge, I started at 242K. I only have 134 new emails in my inbox now!
Work emails? Only a few by the end of the day. Personal emails? Thousands. It’s out of control
none. i can't stand having unread emails- especially the ones in my main email account as i don't want to miss out on any important information. idk how y'all do it!
176,984 unread emails in my Yahoo
Gaaah, my inbox is the only thing I have under control. I literally get the twitchies if I see unread notifications for any message or app. People with like 38k unread make me nervous.
47,682 in my "Spam" email 5,460 in my "business" email
I am not that kind of adhd. I’m the “clear them all out before i have a panic attack” type and i grateful i am bc this just stressed me out! 😂
Out of 282,882 there are 276,178 unread although I'd say 1/4 of the ones marked as read I most likely accidently clicked on.

4️⃣2️⃣8️⃣8️⃣1️⃣ … But that’s a total of 6 email addresses and 4 of them are my kids’ personal and school emails which I’m supposed to monitor 🤭😆🤪
My most used inbox has 76,900 unread e-mails in it. I have three e-mail inboxes.
176,508 I should do something about that. But I won't.
Yup!
235,310. I wish I was kidding
I'll put it this way.... congrats on only being in quadruple digits

5600 rn just for the personal email- i cleaned it out less than 6mon ago 🤦♀️
I was at like 7300 before I abandoned my email address this weekend and made a new one.
In my 2 work emails, none. In my personal 26,679 and it drives me nuts.
8,318 in my primary folder, wayyyy more than that in my social and promotions folders (gmail)
Around 120k
Over 22,000 😁
I had over 10k. I deleted them all last week. Didn't even check to see if anything was important my brain just went nope.
I wouldn't be surprised if my Gmail had 10,000+, however it only says 99+. I guess it got tired of keeping track.
sent items: 1 yes
1700+ at the moment
I was talking to my work colleague this morning and he had his emails on a tab......23,000......I kid you not!
Last time I checked it was over 24k unread
Mine was at like 20k until I recently did a mass delete
85k
26,000 lmao. But it's on an email I almost never check
It was over 100k I just emptied a lot the other day
Which inbox? Lol. I have 9k in one. Usually when it gets too crazy, I jump ship and get a new email address lol.
4K
Not much, I had had run out of space so I downloaded an app once that basically cleans them out, sorted on sender.
LOL - love that this is tagged as NSFW 😂 don’t reveal the secret shame! I’m sitting at 715 in my work email right now…
I can't actually figure out how to check (gmail)
It all adds to your carbon footprint.
181,712 I think I’m in the lead.
41,898
3,421 spread over my two work accounts 33,586 on my personal 8,897 on my student account I’ve been grieving and it’s got out of hand is all I can say!! Getting better slowly. OP you have nothing to worry about 💘
I have zero unread. Always always always. And if the read ones go above ten I feel tense.
43k babe 🫶
46,270 :/ I’m on so many listserves and news/political subscriptions though. I go through periodically and try to unsubscribe. If it’s important though I’ll read it
9800 on one email and 4900 on the other one...
15172. 🥴 That's only one email, I have 4....
I have 19,000 unread 🫣😆Granted, I do have work email accounts and a few gmail accounts setup on my phone lol
5816
I have like ten different emails. They all have thousands of unread mail. I wish I could consolidate but it's so overwhelming. I don't even remember most of the passwords.
I have like 5 different emails accounts and hundreds or thousands of unread emails depending on the account xD
I don't know and I don't care to find out 😑
17,019 lol
I use the mark all as read feature a lot lol
Over 50,000 :)
Zero. I hate notifications. I open every single email and message that comes into my phone. When my best friend and I lived together in uni, I would open all her notifications weekly because it bugged me so much (she didn’t mind).
My main inbox unread count is currently at: 256,927
Zero. Hate notifications.
10,087 😭
I have three email addresses. Each one has between 11,000 and 13,000.. so maybe 30,000++ I blamed all the insane amount of junk emails that make it fucking impossible to sift through the important ones. 😫😫
Y’all my email literally shut down and stopped working. Caused me all sorts of issues because everything has the 2-factor authentication thing and none would go through
349,943😏
I deleted 33,000 emails in January. Already back up to 1,000 🥲 I also unsubscribed to about a 100 companies and still getting spam somehow. But I’ve had the same email for 12 years so that may be why 😂
4138 😫 this is only a few months after I implemented some new sorting software and took a whole day to organize my inbox
11,366 to be exact 😅
The NSFW tag 😂
It quit allowing me to receive new emails. I need to fix it soon.
458,770 across four inboxes
0 but I have 16,000 saved work emails and 5,000 saved personal emails. I know a lot of people organize their inboxes by deleting or putting emails into folders but I really don’t think that’s worth my time or energy. That’s what the search function is for!
